View 9 RepliesWARNING: only for advanced users who like to clean the registry. Quicksys regcleaner normally $25 free - only 4hrs left from here: http://www.giveawayoftheday.com/
Win 7 compatible - have used this and deleted all 1200 entries it found. It makes a backup - been running for several hours and reboots with no probs. Also working fine so far on my Vista x64 and Win 7 x86 installs. After cleaning you need to shut the app. and reopen it for it to find it's backups. (Easy to find them by hand - it can compress them to.7z files, too ). Have used their regdefrag a lot - identical scans and results to the Auslogics and Glary versions- so use whichever defragger you already have. WARNING: not recommended to defrag registry across drives.
Currently using Vista 64 Home Premimum. Can anyone recommend a good registry cleaner? I tried PCTOOLS and it promptly wrecked my registry.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've read in some posts that a registry cleaner isn't recommended for Vista, primarily because some can install malware instead of getting rid of it.
But I've got some issues with Vista and I swear it's from leftover software installations - such as SQL 2008 beta. I don't want to reinstall Vista because it's a pain in the butt. Are there any registry cleaners that are recommended as safe?
I just upgraded my desktop to Vista Ultimate and my question is: Is there a registry cleaner on Vista comparable to the regclean.exe on XP?

I am thinking of using Wise Registry Cleaner Free, I did a scan with it and it found about 2000 invalid entries, I am not sure if it is safe to remove all of the 2000 entries as this does seem to be quite a lot and I don’t want to muck up my pc. Any one used it before and if so does it do a good job without mucking your pc up?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have vista home premium and am experiencing the following problems: a) Internet explorer 8 suddenly disconnecting. this is happening frequently b) Slow PC- poor navigation response times. I have attempted to speed things up by doing a win disk clean and disk defrag. Also downloaded ccclean to clean up my system. All this improved PC speed marginally (say 5-10%) but my internet explorer disconnection issue continues. I am considering purchasing a registry cleaner to resolve my main 2 issues.

Now that my registry is supposedly "clean" i no longer can access my Control Panel and Personalize options. These programs really should not be recommended without knowing the full consequence of what harm they can do. How can i re-install the files that Eusing Free Registry cleaner corrupted? Or do i need to do a fresh Vista re-install?
View 5 Replies View RelatedVista Home Premium 64-bit Since I started using a registry cleaner program (Advanced SystemCare Professional), I've noticed that every once in a while the system will go through two startups. The first startup begins normally, but then after the Welcome screen there's a pause of several seconds. Then a window pops up in the upper left corner of my screen that says "setting up personalized settings" followed by "msiexec /fuo {product ID} /qn". There's a second window that appears right after that but it disappears before I can read it. The system then goes through what appears to be a normal shutdown, and then immediately restarts a second time, and from that point on everything seems fine.
This doesn't happen at every startup. I'm pretty sure it has something to do with Advanced SystemCare, but I can't pinpoint the cause. The anomaly disappears if I disable all of ASC's automated functions. It's not a critical problem, but it has aroused my curiosity. I'd welcome any insights anyone can offer.
I have several utility software programs. I am afraid to use any of them. I am using Vista home premium 64 bit. I bought this computer back in april. after I bought it I purchased a new program called Advanced System Optimizer. When I google for information on a quality utility program this program had very high recommendations. I also have Fit-It utilities 7 and an older version of System Mechanic. My computer is running slower now and I know it needs cleaning up. The last time months ago right after I purchase Advance System Optimizer I ran the registry cleaner and it reeked havok on my system. I called the company and they told me their program I purchased was not designed for 64bit systems. Of course they didn't refund my money. Question is: My computer needs cleaning up I can tell it is running slower than it used to. What utility program is out there that will work on my system. My system is Vista Home Premium 64 bit Intel core 2 Duo 2.6 GHZ.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am using this program to clean up my registry and it seems to work fine except the errors keep coming back. I can do a scan, clean up all the errors and then shut down and start up and I have a new 20 registry error list and most or all of the errors relate to "bad path for the value" and its windows files that seem to be at fault. I don't understand why Microsoft operating system would create registry errors on a startup, before anything has been installed etc. is RegistryBooster misleading me or what. I am running win7 but it did the same thing on vista home premium so I think the question is valid for this group.

I was going to do use Disk Cleanup to clear some of the clutter from my computer but was not sure what all to put a check mark on. There was one file in particular "Hibernation File Cleaner" that had 3.24GB of stuff in it. What is that folder, why is it storing so much stuff in it, and is it safe to "Clean" it?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI downloaded a highly rated registry cleaner from CNET (download.com) and ran it on my Vista Ultimate (x32) laptop. When I rebooted many of the programs I had installed were missing from the start menu. All the programs are still there in C:/Programs but the folder listings are all gone in the start menu. Is there a way to restore all these? I did a system restore but that didn't fix the Start menu issue.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a big problem! Yesterday everything was fine then all of a sudden I could not delete certain files and every time I would open an explorer window another window would open and to finally get to where I want.. I have to open all of these windows very annoying. Also I have never had all the folder options like thumbnail view and so on. Thing is most of this was fine yesterday. I do believe it might have something to do with running CC cleaner because after that all of my setting for explorer were lost. and now I cannot get them back. Then when I tried dragging certain files into other folders I would get a message saying "Target cannot handle this object" I tried in folder options to reset folders also to open folder in same window but nothing. seems Vista is not responding to my requests . I have a UAC tweak installed to minimize vistas requests for confirmation and also had sp1 installed and uninstall ed it but all of this happened before the uninstall of sp1. This started with the cc cleaner so I deleted that don;t trust it anymore seems it has deleted all my vista settings. Also in folder options i do not have the option of viewing thumbnails which is also annoying because I cannot see the photos I want when I want to choose a photo for instance to post on a blog or other. All this is very annoying and the worst of it is that I cannot do a system restore because I have not restore points prior to cc cleaner. shoot what to do?
