It shows my front jacks. But when I plug in my headset nothing pops up, and I can't manually click the jack. Having to pull out my entire computer every time I want to plug in my headset it really really annoying, which is the whole reason I got jacks on the front of my computer.now they don't work?
View 4 RepliesI recently got a new motherboard for my computer to fix the BSOD's I was getting (the motherboard i had previously was faulty) however now Realtek HD Audio Manager has disappeared and i cant seem to get any sound out of my computer, apart from when I use a pair of USB headphones that don't connect to the standard audio jacks on the back and front of the computer (they connect to the USB). I thought this would be a simple fix just remove Realtek (did that) and go and find another copy to install but i cant find/work out what i need ... i downloaded several different drivers and they all did nothing. How do I reinstall Realtek HD Audio Manager to manage my speakers?

View 7 Replies View Related1) Headset plugged into front jacks is not working and it looks like my PC hasn't even sensed the headset bcos I expected it to it ask me about what I have plugged into the jack if it was not sure.
2) Rear speakers are working fine for playbacks. Rear jack microphone is working for recording but the issue is the audio being recorded cannot be heard from speakers. After I stop recording I can play and hear the recording but not while I am recording it.
Has someone faced this and has some solutions for me? Let me make it clear that same hardware works absolutely fine when the OS was XP. I had a fresh Vista install couple of days back on hardware with Intel motherboard, Intel core 2 duo 946GZ Express chipset. I have every possible (also all optional) latest update for the OS. I have installed latest drivers meant for Vista (audio and graphics accelerators) downloaded and installed yesterday from Intel site.
I have a really annoying issue with Vista Ultimate SP1.
My PC specs are as follows:
Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40 Ghz
Nvidia 680i SLI PCI-E
2x Geforce 6800 GS
HD Realtek Audio (onboard)
4.0 GB RAM
My issue is that I can't get any non-USB microphone to be picked up on any input, front or rear panel. I have installed the newest Realtek Audio HD drivers (2.00) and just recently did a fresh install of Vista with SP1 thinking that that would solve the issue. My system is fully up to date according to Windows Update.
However, though the sound manager realizes when I plug in a microphone, there is absolutely no level of input no matter how much I yell into it. I have two separate microphones (both working on other computers i.e my laptop's Vista install) which are not picked up at all.
I have cross checked and triple checked that the sound settings are all unmuted and corresponding within Realtek's sound manager as well as Vista's. This solves nothing. There is still no recognition of a working mic.
I am totally stumped as the microphone used to work on Vista when I had the automatic HD Audio Driver installed from Microsoft and then suddenly stopped. However, I have since tried to revert to the old driver but to no avail.
My computer has Realtek HD Audio Manager installed on it as the main audio manager. I have 4 speakers plus a subwoofer, so I set it as 5.1 speakers and unchecked the button for a center speaker in the manager so that it won't make my sub act as a center. However, on the back of my desktop, the jack for the sub is also the jack for the center speaker. So, whenever I listen to my music, it won't use my sub, but if I check the option for having a center speaker, it tries to make my sub act as a center speaker, which makes it sound awful.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Pi1505 laptop with Windows Vista 32 bit home premium installed. When I got the laptop there was an icon in the system tray near to the clock which when you clicked on it opened up a nice looking graphic from which you could alter the realtek sound settings and choose things such as concert speech room etc. It had graphics depicting speakers and other things.
That has now completely disappeared and I cannot seem to get it back or find it anywhere on my computer. It made making adjustments to the sound settings so much easier and I miss not having it. Is there anyway to restore it back so that I can alter my sound settings more easily
I know that Acer displays the Realtek HD Audio Manager as ACER's. I have no problems with the name being different. The problem is, after 4 successive times of uninstalling the driver and installing the new one, the HD Audio Manager does not update. Its stuck at one version. Do i update the HD Audio Manager? My dumb guess is that Acer is not updating the HD Audio Manager as it'll be changed to Realtek.. I have tried downloading and installing the Driver from Acer's website but its still the same......

See the attached screen shot of my HD audio manager. The speaker and mic works fine, the problem I have is. when I plug in the headphone jack into my s/pdif slot both the speaker and headphone plays sounds. I heard I can change this in the advanced settings. which I can't acess.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI noticed that recently the little speaker icon for the Realtek HD Audio Manager (on the taskbar next to the clock) seems to completely disappear at times. One minute it's there, and then Poof! it's gone. It started a few weeks ago. I would restart the computer, and it would be back, but then later disappear. (I checked everything I could think of, enabling the notification, checking all the boxes in the control panel and in the realtek control panel, making sure it wasn't a "hidden" icon, etc.)
Now it's back, but instead of being white, it's red. I used to be able to right-click on it and the volume slider would appear and I could adjust the volume easily. Now when I right-click on the red icon, I get a list--> Sound Manager, Audio Devices, System Sound Events, etc. but no volume slider like before.
The sound itself works fine--no problem with the speakers--but I just can't figure out what has caused the problem with the icon disappearing and now re-appearing but with a red color.
Any ideas? I just want my volume slider back!
I am trying to adjust my mixer to accomodate my new speakers, the voice is too low, and the base is too high. I have accessed the mixer and tried to make it tollerable, but have failed. There is no direct bass and treble adjustment, and there is not a "user" or "custom" setting. There are only presets, the problems with these presets, is that they work in certain situations, but not in others. Any advise? Am I looking in the worng place? Can I put software in place to adjust the levels indepent of each other? I am using the onboard sound card on an Abit IP35 Pro, and I am using Home Premium 64.

I would like to use my Nokia BH-501 (Bluetooth) as a wireless headset for Skype, MSN or any other voice programs available. Generally, I do not have problem paring headset with the computer. I can easily establish connection between computer and device but that is all. Computer under Bluetooth settings recognize device and installation is done. I use Realtek HD Audio with latest driver. Once device is paired with computer, I do not know how to make it work. If I log on MSN, Skype, etc. under sound preference my headset is not on the list so I can’t select it. Also in Realtek HD Audio Manager there is no option to add new device.

I do not know much about it as it is not mine, but the problem is the audio was cutting out and now there is nothing. The computer is not recognizing any type of audio device installed. Even in Device Manager, there is no option for Sound, game and controllers. I have tried downloading the driver and installing, but no luck there.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI just got a new computer with 64-bit Vista Home Premium, and am having some issues with devices. When I connected my Lexmark X6100 printer, Vista recognized it and even took me to the website to download drivers, which I then installed. when I bring up Printers in Control Panel, the Lexmark is not listed. The X6100 also includes a scanner which again Vista found, but it directed me to the same download as for the printer (not surprising). There is an entry for the Lexmark X6100 in my Start Menu, but the only option there is to uninstall the software.
My old computer ran XP Pro and the Lexmark worked perfectly there. There was even an icon in the system tray that appeared at startup. A second issue has arisen with my webcam, a Logitech Quickcam Pro 5000, which Vista also recognized, and there was a prompt which looked as though it was from the Logitech driver asking for a disk which I did not provide, because I didn't think it was necessary. The cam also worked well under XP without any additional software installation.
Vista's Device Manager reports that both devices are working properly, but I am unable to access either of them. I also installed a program called PDF Factory which I used as my default printer on my old computer, and it's working just fine - and it shows up in my Printer panel.
Im looking for the audio driver for the sound for the gateway gt5628 and vista ultimate. I checked the gateway site and it seemed all drivers were 32 bit.

When I boot up my notebook, the sidebar doesn't appear, the network icon in the taskbar has a red X on it (but I'm still connected to a network),and the task manager won't appear after pressing ctrl-shift-esc or right clicking on the taskbar. View 8 Replies View RelatedAfter having some difficulty with "the black screen of death" and coming to the realization that my CA anti-virus wasn't picking up the bug that was causing my problems, I've switched to Norton 360 and eliminated the virus that was giving me fits. However, now that I've got my desktop back and things seem to be (a bit more) back to normal, I can't open my task manager or get into my disk manager or registry editor. The task manager just simply won't show up as an option and opening mmc/regedit just brings up the notepad.

The Microsoft 6to4 adapter showed in the device manager that it was not working properly. If you look at yours it may show the same. I think I disabled it trying to update it. This was before I found this short sweet article from Microsoft. Does anyone know if I will experience problems in the future when this new technology gets more prevalent? If so, how do I get it back. I followed the instructions that a vista pro gave me to fix this problem and it shows in the reliability monitor that it was installed...but it is not showing int he device manager. Would it be installed but not show on the device manager?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a weird problem with my Vista partition and my creative x-fi xtreme PCI express card. Drivers / control panel can detect my headphones being plugged into the port in my front panel. If I do a channel test I can hear the "left channel" / "right channel" test audio track play through the headphones. But for the life of me, no matter what I do, I can not get normal windows sound (media player, power dvd etc...) to go through the head phones when they are plugged into the front panel and it's driving me crazy. I've set headphones to be the default play back device but nothing.
What kills me is that if I boot into my windows XP partition, everything is fine. The speakers are even muted when I plug my headphones in and sound comes out of them perfectly. Am I doing something wrong? or is it just a driver bug? I'm using the latest vista drivers (via creative update). I'm running 64 bit Vista business by the way

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an expensive motherboard (ASUS P5N32-SLI SE Deluxe) with 5.1 sound (Realtek AC'97) IO on the back panel and an internal 10 pin (with 2 pins missing) AC'97 header to which I should be able to attach the AC'97 lead from my case's front panel headphone + mic sockets.
However, when I plug in the internal header, I lose the front left and right speakers from my 5.1 back panel socket (without getting it out the front socket either). I assume this is something to do with the way vista has only one "speakers" thing in control panel's "sound" thing and how it detects if things are unplugged. The only way I have been able to get the back panel sound back has been to unplug the front panel from the internal IO header.
Does anyone know how to fix this so that I can use both the front panel (headphones) and back panel (speakers) without turning my computer off to attach a lead to the motherboard?
Can not get my HP 7400 scanner to work after upgrading to Vista Ultimate 32 bit. Not the hardware - works fine under XP pro using same hardware configuration. Did a clean install, installed motherboard BIOS updates, scanner BIOS updates, Vista updates and the correct driver from HP. The scanner installed and Device Manager says device is working properly. When I try to scan, scanner initializes, starts to scan then locks up. Then can no longer be seen. ASUS M2N-E motherboard with AMD dual core. Other than that Vista works OK with the rest of my system
