Everytime i start up vista most of my programs 'dont respond' and vista prompts me to close them. This happens with 7-8 programs, but as soon as this is done. i can re run the programs afterwords without any problems. Any ideas why this happens and how to fix it? ive run a virus scan and spyware scan and nothing has come up.

View 5 Replies View RelatedAnyway, I was running Vista32 for about 6 months with no real problems. I changed to Vista64 last night so that I could start using my current 4GB of RAM and be ready for more later on. When I tried to install the files would copy to the HDD just fine, but when the PC would reboot for the first time it would crash at the "green motion bar" loading screen and restart... over... and over. I removed my extra hardware and went down to 2GB of RAM in dual channel mode and reduced timings from 4-4-4-12 to 5-5-5-18 and was able to install. I then got all updates and hadded my hardware back... no problems. I then added my other 2GB of RAM back... no problems. I then increased my timings back to the correct 4-4-4-12... no problems, or so I thought. I'm currently getting random crashes when loading Vista... same as before it will get to the "green motion bar" loading screen and either reboot or give a BSOD and force a restart. I've turned my timings down to 5-5-5-12 and it still happens... so I put them back to 4-4-4-12. I've heard that Vista x64 might have problems with 4GB of RAM on certain systems but I'm not sure how true this is. I guess I'm wondering if anyone else has heard of this and if there's any known fix for this? Maybe a beta update from MS or something? Also... once I get past this "glitch" and Vista loads... it runs rock solid with no issues. All my drivers are the latest available and signed as required. ((downloaded them all last night))

I need some assistance. I have a Dell Inspiron Laptop that runs Vista Home Edition. Whenver I boot up and try to open a program or application, it takes a really REALLY long time for it to open. For example, whenever I try to open Firefox or Internet Explorer or even my control panel, the window will open and will be blank. Then it will start to load but either take an enormous amount of time or, after I've become tired of waiting, I'll try to exit and it will say (Not Responding). Now eventually this goes away and the window does close, but like I said, it takes a ton of time trying to open and close these things up. If I do wait it out and I do get into my Internet Explorer or Mozilla, any links that I click or addresses that I type, it again, takes forever. I've run a deep system scan with my Anti-Virus software and came up with nothing. I did a system restore to a point where the problem was not happening and, again, nothing.

The program it is blocking is by eMPIA technology, Inc, BDA Monitor application, file name hcwemmon.exe. Can anyone tell me if this os okay to permit to run or not? Or even if i need to run it? It receives a "Windows Experience Index" of 2.0. The first thing you are told to do to improve performance is eliminate programs from startup. But when I go through the long list of programs, I often can't tell what they do. For instance, I see in this list "Avantquest
Digital Line Detection," "Dell Quick Set," "Synaptics Pointing Device," and "Java (TM) Platform SE 6U5," among many others. Do I just start experimenting and see what happens when I turn them off? That seems very risky. After all, that "pointing device"--that's my touchpad, isn't it? If I turned off my touchpad, I think my computer would be useless to me, because I do not know how to turn the touchpad on again without the touchpad. In short:is there a way to know which programs would be the best ones to turn off? In case it is not already obvious, I do not know a lot about computers. My experience with Vista has been frustrating, because I feel like I do not have the specialized technical training required to make my laptop work well.
I am just eager to know if there is a method to check if the programs are executed in desired sequence during the startup of the windows without actually restarting windows? Should i need to restart for sure to check it?

However I noticed one file that stands out and I'm not sure if it spyware or something else that could be a threat. MAagent.exe is in the start up tab and the description for the file is in korean. View 8 Replies View RelatedA friend had issues with his laptop, the system (Vista Home Premium)came with lots of preinstalled acer software, he had tried getting rid of them but had no luck, anyhow, he ended up turning off all the startup programs in system config, upon rebooting, he had the error no os found, i have since managed to get passed htis, however i cannot get any further.
The HD is recognised in Bios. The repair from a disc was completed Now it will boot into windows but nothing, no user, no task bar, nothing just an arrow on the screen with a background. I have tried removing memory and starting up repair for a second time bootsect via cmd nothing, i cant boot into safe mode, it just loops back to normal boot, it has no restore points.
I only have vista basic and vista business discs, and he does not have a disc, it came with a partition, i have tried recovery but it tells me there is not backup, yet i can get the task manager up and into cmd, this shows me all the files, so i know there is no issue there. I am assuming that the boot file in boot.ini is up the duff. Is there any way i can get this thing to boot up with his user and all back to normal?
Was using the program explorer to try to cleanup what gets loaded and probably went too far too fast. Didn't realize on of the default startup programs enabled thumbnail viewing. Got tired of the popup messages that there were disabled programs and chose to delete blocked programs. Anybody know which one that is and how I get it to load up again? It is faster though:>)

I located the program in Windows Defender, Category: Startup Programs but all options to "Remove, Disable and Enable" are grayed out. I also noticed the majority though not all auto startup programs in the Startup Category are grayed out. Why is this? I went into the registry and deleted the item from the startup tab and I also disabled it in the startup tab. View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell XPS M1530 and recently it has stopped going into sleep mode. Whenever I try to put my laptop to sleep its pretty much like it "restarts." I hear the 2 clicks from the cd drive and then after login all of my programs are booting up again.I have already checked the power settings in the control panel. Mylaptop is set to go to sleep when the lid is closed on both battery and ac.
Additionally, my laptop goes to sleep whenever I manually use "Fn + F1" and when I press "start - sleep." Has anyone had this problem before? How did you fix it?
Since I had my Vista Small Business reinstalled, Excel is closing down and sometimes restarting again. Sometimes just closing down. After it has reopened automatic I can close without problems. The closing down also often happens upon opening a new Excel page when Excel is open. See attachment. I have complained to the company who did the reinstallation but the claim that it is a Microsoft probloem which has nothing to do with the reinstallation. I have reinstalled Office Enterprise 2007 with no effect. When the problem started I received a message from HP that it was due to selecting the Printer HP Photosmart C5180 as default. I have tried to make another printer default but it has no effect. The computer is a Lenovo Think Pad T-61.
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy CD Tray is now opening and closing every 2 min. If i put in a disk, such as a game disk, and start the game, the tray will stop opening and closing. Once I stop the game, the tray starts opening and closing again.
auto execute does not work when I put a disk in.
I have run Norton 360, it shows no vurus or spyware.
I just brought a new laptop with vista home premium 64 bit 4G RAM. However, while i'm playing a online game for about every 10 minutes, it just closed by itself and didn't give me any warnings. It can stay w/ no problem on the game login page but just not in the game. I'm wondering is there problem with the graphic card? I had tried 2 different brand laptop with 64 bit 4G RAM, both have the same problem. But the game worked well with my old laptop with vista home premium 32 bit 3G RAM.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have 4 user identities on my computer. Three of them work no problem. When I go into my user id (which is also the admin ID) it automatically reboots the computer. The computer starts up to the normal screen with the 4 user IDs on it. And as soon as I log into my ID it reboots in about 5 seconds once again. keeps happening. All 3 other IDs work fine. Whats up and can I fix it? I ran a McAfee full scan and nothing came up.

all the emails, but then will prompt an error in 10 min and ask me to close the program. Is there some problem that no fix has been released for this?
An odd thing as occured in the past week. I am using Vista 64bit OS. As we all know, when we click the (x) in the upper right to close a web page, it should close on one click. Also when going to the task bar and right clicking to close the page. It is taking me three or more clicks to close the page. The back arrow seems un-affected. The open web page seems to hang and then closes.I have no problems in closeing normal windows within the os.I've checked for malware using malwarebytes and nothing comes up. I also have no viruses according to my payed version of AVG. I keep my system clean of junk files etc.

Once you have watched the Mov/Vid and stop it and say you are done it sits in the main screen menu as now playing - eventually to start again of its own accord. The only way to stop this happening is to close VMC and reopen it.

For example I have been trying to uninstall Itunes and everytime I do Windows installer says it is preparing to remove and then it stops and a window come up that says "The system administrator has set policies to prevent this installation." and then another one says I do not have sufficient access to uninstall Itunes and to please contact system administrator.
So I spoke to a friend how recommended this forum subject and I followed the Take Ownership steps a few times but to no avail it still does the same thing. I can't update Itunes untill this one is uninstalled!!!!!
