When I click on a post in mews. In the preview pain I get click here to download message. Is there a way to have the post appear in preview pain ,when I click on post?? If I click 2 times it opens in a new window.
View 5 RepliesAgain. Last time this happened, everyone blamed McAfee, so I killed McAfee and installed AVG Free which is good because it is free. But now I have exactly the same symptoms:
a) Won't download load messages from the server, tries, but eventually times out
b) Happens with Windows Mail, Windows Live Mail and Outlook 2007
I've now uninstalled AVGFree re-booted and the mail client(s) still stick at "downloading measage 1 of 65" then timeout after 180 seconds. here do I look next? Webmail is fine.XP and McAfee was rock solid problem free for years - Windows Mail performance is shocking even when working properly? My son bought a new Dell laptop last month with Vista , he has ripped out Vista, installed XPSP2 (he used MY spare licence!) and he works grief free. I've been using Vista for 6 months now - is time to quit and return to XP peace and stability?Oops I'm using an Acer 5630 laptop with 2GB of RAM Vista Home Premium, Intel Core Duo 1.66G CPU. At idle Vista is grabbing just less than1GB of RAM (I've only the standard gadgets running + IM, A/V is uninstalled while I try to get eMail working again. Is it me, but isn't an O/S that needs 2GB to run a basic suite of MS office applications reasonably well, a bit out of hand?
i'm trying to play a game (which i think is 16bit) i downloaded but it keeps coming up with an error message telling me that i'm missing the C:WINDOWSSYSTEM32CONFIG.NT file. i have looked up ways to fix this, but can only find solutions for Windows XP, & when i found a solution here from a user called Josh, he claimed there is an HKLM pathway in regedit but i don't see this my system is Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit.

The problem is , i erase something that made me preview images without opening.

not sure if thumbnail preview is the right term. - wanted to ask about why or how i might be able to fix ....... scenario: when i open a folder....
1. if its full of pdf files (ex.: e-books) i dont see the preview / covers of the e-books any more as before - just the foxit icon
2. if the folder is full of videos (ex: movies) i dont see a small clip of a scene as before now i only see my VLC Player icon. (the big orange cone) was there some setting that i might changed, not realizing? new things that ive done lately:

it's possible to get Vista to preview an animated gif. It will show it but not animate it. The only way I've found to see the animation is to drop it on to I.E.

Anyway, until the last few months, when opening the Pictures folder I was able to preview each picture/photo at a glance - using Windows Photo Gallery - without having to double-click on any one in particular, before being able to see the photo. Now unfortunately, for some unknown reason, I am only able to see the filename of each picture/photo with some sort of cover - Does anyone know which setting previews each picture/photo when viewed as Large Icons?
View 8 Replies View Relatedafter spending almost 30 min (yeah yeah I'm a newb or whatever you call people like me these days) trying to figure out how I can preview the tabs as thumbnails when I scroll my mouse over the task bar, I see that IF you have Vista Home Premium or better, you can change your Color and Appearance to Aero and then supposedly the option (under the Taskbar and Menu section in the Control Panel) for previewing tabs as thumbnails is supposed to be click-able... I have Windows Vista Home Premium, AMD Turion(tm) 64 X2 Mobile Technology TL-56, etc. ... I tried to change the color to Aero and it won't let me, so of course it won't let me preview the tabs as thumbnails either.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a lot of videos and the thumbnails are not showing a preview of the video, but instead show an icon (see "Attachment 1"). I already tried the following:
1. Deleted Thumbnail cache via Disk Cleanup.
2. Verified that "Show thumbnails instead of icons" was checked via Visual Effects in Performance Options.
3. Verified that "Always show icons, never thumbnails" was NOT checked via Folder Options.
4. I also heard that this happens when the "K-Lite Codec Pack" is on the computer. So I uninstalled this (to no avail) and reinstalled it (again nothing).
The preview does not appear for any WMV or AVI files. All pictures and other videos are perfect (that I know of).
I am having exactly the same problem as Thumbnail problem. Computer not generating them or something. - I have done all the things list here and I still cannot see any preview icons for any files or folders. Unless I use the list view which doesnt show previews anyway for picture or movie files. I have done a repair of Vista and that didnt fix the problem. I really dont want to start from scratch. I also cannot change my desktop image, and any file I try to upload wont change it.

Is this safe and if not, can I turn off the preview mode. Who needs it. If I select a message, even to right click it, so I can delete it, it goes into preview mode. Is this strange or is it just me.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI click any image on my computer to preview it in Windows Photo Gallery, it automatically shuts down and restarts explorer.exe and it started after I first updated to Service Pack 2 for x64 bit Vista. Now these images open in QuickTime, Photoshop, and my IE and Firefox browsers so it's only the one application.
I usually try to research and fix my problems on my own since I'm the only one able to at home without resorting to paid services and I've tried System Restore which worked and Windows Photo Gallery/preview worked again but then I had to reinstall the service pack 2 again which let me pin point that it IS the update causing this issue.............

View 7 Replies View RelatedJust copied some new jpgs from my card reader to a folder full of jpgs from the same card, same camera, same card reader - and they show up as the Photoshop icon instead of picture preview. ALL other pictures in the folder show the picture preview. The card reader folder shows the pictures too! Opened a picture and edited it in Photoshop then saved it as a jpg with a new name and IT doesn't show the picture preview. I cleared the thumbnail cache - no joy. Maddening! Running 64 bit Vista on a Pemium HDX HP laptop. I apologize if this has been covered in here somewhere before but I couldn't find anything (other than clearing the thumbnail cache, but that was a bust). when opening the folder for the first time after a reboot, the picture previews flash for a nanosecond then revert to the Photoshop icon.

I installed a program that I didn't like. I uninstalled it, but it didn't remove it's own association with JPG and other image files. I want to reassociate them with Explorer's Preview (which is still available on the rightclick context shell menu, but unavailable on any "open with" or "default programs" dialog).
Is there any way to do this? Maybe a explorer.exe command line parameter?
I was wondering if you know if there is a way to improve Vista's Video Preview on the Details Pane.
The problem I see is that Vista shows the very 1st second of video, while Windows 7 shows the 4th. That's why many of the video previews on the details pane show a black screen on vista instead of actual video.
I was invited to download the Office 2010 preview from Connect. Not too impressed so far. It has no stationery at all & the only wizard I've found thus far is the envelope wizard. Office 2007 was bad enough with its plethora of already-written forms and hardly any decent smart-looking templates for business or personal letters, but this one has none at all, meaning not even one.
Generally I see little difference from Office 2007 except a much plainer "look". Which isn't always a good thing. Perhaps I'm being impatient. I only installed it 5 minutes ago but do NOT like it, sorry!!
Earlier I was told with preview pane viewing on you could receive a virus or whatever, without acually opening the mail message. Is this still the case?

Today I wanted to print a color document and it always shows in the preview as a black and white document (which it is not). It also prints it as Black and White. Yet , I checked all on the printer and it is set for Best quality Color and I just cannot figure out why the preview shows it always in black and white. I have a newer Epson and it shows and prints it fine in color. So the document is OK. It is something on the HP printer, but I cannot figure what.

View 9 Replies View RelatedPreviewConfig is a very useful utility written by Microsoft MVP Ramesh Srinivasan that allows users to easily register file types with the Windows Explorer file preview pane.
Start PreviewConfig and you can view all of the currently registered preview filters on your system for the different file types. Adding a new file type to register a preview for is as easy as just typing in the extension and then selecting the type of viewer.
PreviewConfig works great for text based files that windows does not recgonize by default. For example, .NFO or programming language files such as .vb or .cs.....
I don't know why this happened, but for some reason whenever I single click on a file the preview pane no longer generates a preview of the file. For files that a preview cannot be generated it still gives me the "no preview available" message, but for files that a preview should be present the preview pane just goes blank.
The most common files I use the preview pane for are .txt, .doc, .wmv, and other image files. Strangely enough, images still show in the pane, but I have had no luck with other files. My default program for videos is still Windows Media Player 11 and my default .txt program is Wordpad [I use Word for .doc]. Is there a way to simply reset this feature or could someone
