Potential Logitech G7 Intermittent Mouse Freeze Solution

Oct 9, 2008

For all of you G7 owners who continue to struggle with random freezing:

As others have so eloquently noted there is a strong consenus that this is a hardware issue potentially related to multiple factors including radio interferance, battery malfunction / contact issues, usb power, etc.

Here is a list of things to try, any of which may (or may not) solve the problem:

1) unplug the usb transmitter from the adapter and plug it back in. This did the trick for me about 50% of the time. Sometime toggling the DPI buttons (the + and - buttons on the mouse) up and down also helps.

2) if the freeze gets so bad that the cursor wouldn't move try shutting down the PC, unplugging the cord to the power supply, toggling the power supply switch to discharge the motherboard capacitors, then turn on the PC and reboot.

3) clean the battery contacts. Remove the battery and use one side of a Q-tip soaked in isopropanol and clean the contacts on the battery and inside the mouse (the 3 prongs sticking out of the end of the battery slot). Make sure to use the dry end of the Q-tip to remove all of the isopropanol before sticking the battery back into the mouse.

4) if the transmitter is near a wireless router or other transmitter (bluetooth radio, modem, etc.) place it as far away from these devices as possible.

I have had a problem with my Logitech G5 mouse since i got my new Computer. I did not have this problem on my old Computer (Vista 32bit) and now, it randomly freezes, and then works again. I have tried it on another Computer which is running a bit lower on specs, but runs vista 32bit, and theres no problems, what so ever on there. I have tried to reinstall the drivers (Also for Windows Vista 64Bit) from logitechs homepage, and reconnect the mouse in a different usb port, but no luck yet.

I have an old Logitech but fully functional mouse (cordless optical).

When I ran Vista x86 Ultimate, I installed a small program that allowed me to double-click with middle mouse button. Now, with Vista x64 Ultimate, it doesn't work anymore.

Do someone know another small program to allow me that?

Logitech Wireless Mouse C-BN4 Stops Working

Oct 27, 2009

If I let my computer sit for roughly 1 hour or more the mouse stops working and I have to restart the computer via the keyboard. I've tried reconnecting from the transceiver and switching the mouse on/off and pressing the reset button. None of these things seem to do the trick.

LogiTech USB Wireless Mouse Suddenly Stopped Working

Dec 12, 2009

Two days ago my LogiTech USB Wireless mouse just suddenly stopped working. I was using it when playing LoL (League of Legends), and just went to restroom and when I came back, it's not working anymore. I have thought that maybe it's just the batteries, and I've change it but still not working. I convinced myself that maybe it just died. I bought today a MS Wireless Mobile Mouse 3000, to my surprise it doesn't work. I've checked all my drivers and they we're up to date.

Mouse And Keyboard Freeze At Startup

Jul 29, 2009

I have been running a Vista Ultimate 32 SP 1 with 4G RAM for a year now. 3 moths ago after a slew of updates from Vista, at start-up the Mose and Keyboard began freezing. It would happen at the initial boot almost every time. If I hard restarted the machine then it would boot normally and they would not freeze once the system is running though. I thought it may be the latest Nvidia graphic driver ( I have the GT9600 ) so I rolled back to the initial one which was working perfectly. I also updated to SP2.

Keyboard & Mouse Freeze Immediately On Boot

Feb 12, 2010

I've got a major problem on my home machine ... No new software or hardware additions in the last month. I re-booted after MS latest flurry of updates and it seemed to come up OK but BOTH the mouse and keyboard were frozen. No reponse whatsoever although I can see the desktop fine and the machine seems to be running. I determined this by trying to plug in a USB keyboard & mouse. Upon doing this, Vista beeped and recognized them & installed drivers, but they too were frozen. Thinking this could be a virus or malware problem, I tried booting to the NAV disk to try and scan, but instead of booting, I got a BSOD complaining about the file: rdacdisk.sys & the error that it unloaded with pending operations. Since the machine is a Fry's OEM box, it didn't come with a repair CD,

so I grabbed a spare disk & reloaded virgin vista to it. It booted fine & that's what I'm running on now. My original system disk looks fine.I then made a repair CD from the torrent file at neosmart.com. It too found no problems on my original system disk. The disk I used to reload vista is actually too small to load NAV, so I'm going to have to dig up something bigger if I want to scan it. Or move it to another system with NAV. Does any of this sound familiar or match a known problem ? I just realized that my above description was naccurate. When I plugged in the USB keyboard & mouse, things remained frozen because the OS popped up a box prompting me to install the drivers for the new devices. Without a keyboard or mouse, I couldn't tell it to proceed........

Mouse And Keyboard Randomly Freeze Up. ( Home Premium 32 Bit)

Sep 16, 2009

I have the problem with the system fully updated, and after a base install with no updates. The problem started 3 days ago and have had the PC for 2 years without this problem. I have not added anything to the install recently that would cause this problem. I have done automatic updates from Microsoft, but as stated above, problem persists from base install to fully updated. Problem persists in safe mode.

I have edited the registry "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SYSTEM CurrentControlSet Services i8042prt Enum" and set the value of INITSTARTFAIED from 1 (enabled) to 4 (restricted). Sadly this did not fix the problem. I tried this in response to Event ID 7026..........

Potential Fix For X-Fi / NForce 4 SCP

Jun 20, 2008

I have had this X-Fi Snap/Crackle/Pop issue for a few weeks now. It started when I got my 2nd 8800 GTS and an additional 2GB of RAM. The X-Fi card worked great prior to getting these two new pieces of hardware. Then the SCP started happening. My best two leads was that the X-Fi card didn't play nice with 4GB of RAM nor the NForce 4 chipset. After tons of forum research and trying a bunch of possible solutions I have come down to my final try.

My Asus MOBO has a beta bios (1405) that may have the fix for this SCP issue. Since Asus does not release bios information on betas, I am going off of what other people had mentioned about the fixes in this beta bios. I flashed the bios last night and have reimaged my C drive so I know that currently everything is working correctly. I have created a Complete PC Backup image this morning. I will install the X-Fi sound card tonight and see if my SCP issue is gone. If nothing else I can go back to my backup image and try something else. I will update this thread with the results this evening.

Sometimes appears a warning triangle sign between my pc and the network icon then I get "limited conectivity" and it fixes by itself after 15 to 20 secs. Is like that all day.

Intermittent System Slowdown

Jul 3, 2008

I have an intermittent slowing issue. Sometimes on system startup, the computer will be running very slowly, as though there is a huge drain on system resources- taking 10 seconds plus to open IE, for example- but when I open the task manager and take a look, I'm never using more than 10% CPU (its usually more like 4%) and physical memory is usually around 30-50% used.

This problem can persist through a reboot (where the system will appear to hang on the "Shutting down..." screen for up to 10 minutes), but through a restart or two I can usually get it to go away.

Internet Connectivity Is Intermittent

Jul 29, 2009

I am facing a strange problem with my HP Dv6705 laptop running on Vista Professional. I have a Wi-fi router configured for internet access. Now, the internet connectivity is intermittent i.e. I am connected to the internet for about 5 seconds before it gets disconnected. I get the connectivity again after a few seconds before it gets disconnected.

Now, I started using the uTorrent application after which I got prolonged connectivity. From the past few days, whenever I need uninterrupted internet I need to turn on the uTorrent application. It is quite strange that I am the only one who needs to do this while the others in my house (who have similar laptops) do not face any problem. Is there any way to detect what exactly is happening and how I can resolve this uTorrent workaround?

Intermittent Blue Screen: BCP1 0000009A

Mar 25, 2007

Since I have installed Vista Home Premium I have had an intermittent "Blue Screen" problem with the following Stop Message:

BCCode: 4e
BCP1 0000009A
BCP2 0007DF69
BCP3 0000006
BCP4 00000002

Files that help describe the problem:
F:WindowsMinidumpMini020407-01.dmp
F:UsersRogerAppDataLocalTempWER-84968-0.sysdata.xml
F:UsersRogerAppDataLocalTempWER918C.tmp.version.txt

BCP2 has different code every time this happens but other codes remain the same. To get out of the situation I select "Last Known Good Configuration" at Start Up and then I can go for an extended period before the problem re-occurs. In original received a message saying there was a problem with the graphics driver but this driver came with Vista.( Nvidia FX5200) also at one stage Microsoft told me that there were some issues regarding the driver but nothing has come of it.

Microsoft's online support here in Australia is very poor at the moment, taking a week or more to respond and then they keep on repeating themselves now they have admitted that due to the release of Vista they are receiving alot of emails and suggested I phone them instead but I can never get through. So there we are. Does anyone have any idea what these codes mean and what the files mean? Everything works fine in "Safe Mode" so there must be a an issue with hardware/ software?

5. Removed software firewalls and AV
6. Complete reinstall of Vista with slipstreamed SP1

Intermittent Connectivity: Connects On Reboot Then Disconnect

Feb 24, 2009

I have a new ASUS Laptop with Vista Home SP1 (with a sweet 512M dedicated video card) connecting wirelessly via a Linksys WRT54G router. The firmware on the router is current and Linksys assures me that there are no known issues with Vista and internet connectivity. I have a MacBookPro that connects w/o issue (wireless) and three XP machines that connect just fine (wireless and direct connect) so I know my network is solid. The laptop always connects on reboot, but conks out without warning after 45 minutes or up to three hours. Even when it seems like the laptop is offline, I can often ping a website through the command prompt. The "diagnose and repair" option just tells me eveything is fine. Windows Firewall has default settings. Already disabled IPv6.

Finding A Goodbackup Solution

I am in need of a good reliable backup solution. My wife is a PHD student, and loosing her work would be a REAL issue. Ciurrently I am useing Mozy Online Backup: Simple, Automatic, Secure as a online backup but just found out that files backed up over 30days old are not kept. meaning, lets say I have a doc thats 30 days old, was backed up 30 days ago and not modified since then. On day 31 there is no backup. So as a interum solution I am makeing a DVD of her "My Documents" folder every 2 weeks, but again, thats a pain. I guess what I am looking for is a backup/archive solution, which, I dont think I will find online. I looked into a in-expensive home NAS device, but havent been able to find one that has decent reviews.......

Solution For Creating A W7 Newsgroup

Oct 23, 2009

I've done several times and in many cases they care, unlike country where I was born, companies here listen to customers. I am one (if not entire?) reason for example Nestle Conglomerate based in Switzerland has changed plastic in their water bottles branded in USA as PolandSpring, Deerpark, Appalachian or whatever it si (i forgot all thei rnumerou sbrands) from dangerous HDPE to PETE plastic. Likewise if you keep secrets who will KNOW??

Share with Microsoft your desire to create a W7 Newsgroups, in addition or to oppose MS's drive to use Web interface from no won. Share your reasons, like less time to participae in NG than in Web, THREADING, filtering, etc - sheer power of a Newsreader is incomparably better than a Web interfcae. Midcrosoft's site-->COntact-..CustomerService, and navigate thru severla menus, it's free, though takes effort to get thru their clutter as no company in the world wants email/phone contact to be too easy to avoid their cust servive being overloaded.

Otherwise you post here and why would MS care beyind a few Usenet server operators, you think they transmit everything said here to Redmond? No. I wrote about my desires for WinExplorer nonsense in Vista to be fixed in Windows7, i see it was done, so it's more like good old WindowsXP in terms of Explorer remembering views finally, unlike ***** Vista. SO write now about your wish for a W7 Newsgroups.

Vista Audio Solution - What You Hear

May 31, 2008

Many of you may have been as frustrated as myself by Micrsoft bowing to the RIAA and pressuring the soundcard manufacturers to remove the "What You Hear" feature from their drivers. This supposedly prevents you from recording web radio and other sound card audio.

The short term workaround has been to loop the line out audio back around into the line in jack. While this works, it's a kludge.

The good news is that Version 7 of Total Recorder (just released) now comes with a true kernal mode driver that restores the capability to do direct recordings.

On another note. if you've recently wanted to uninstall and reinstall solution center and are finding it hard to find the software online to reinstall, you'll most likely need to use the printer cd. (If you still have it of course). Then you can go to the hp website and download the update to 13.0 and hope it works better....

Logitech G15, Freezes

Sometimes (and only sometimes) the "unplug it and plug it back in when the game is loaded" work around actually works, but it is rare. I would love for my keyboard to just actually work without having to jump thru hoops each time I wanted to do something. Also, turning off all the extra drivers for it, well that kind of defeats the purpose of using it if i kill the drivers for it's monitor and macro keys
