Funny how one simple player can make you scream. Ive tried: Apple Quicktime, Quicktime Alternative, VLC The players and IE plugins just dont work. It took my computer shop to get my Quadro driver to work right. Im running Maya and Photoshop.

View 4 Replies View RelatedWith Protected Mode enabled, our signed plugins no longer operate as they should due to limitations on where they can write files, etc. Is there any way to get around this programmatically, without the user having to disable Protected Mode manually? I must admit that I appreciate Microsoft's continued efforts regarding security, but the entire point of having signed plugins was so that the user could explicitly grant trust to the plugin. Unsigned plugins were not allowed by default in IE6. I'm not sure who thought that was inadequate.

(Code 19) Click 'Check for solutions' to send data about this device to Microsoft and to see if there is a solution available. Annoying that i cant use any discs . . . i have tried all of the solutions device manager has gave.

I transferred some mpg files to it from this computer (XP) and tried to play them. A 9 minute file screeches through in about one second with only a weird audio noise like a robot talking into a tin can, and no video at all. So I installed GomPlayer on her computer and it plays the files perfectly. What do I need to do to get Media Player to play mpg files??

At first it wouldn't do it, then a prompt told me I could try & run it if I wanted to. It played but now Media Player won't run on web sites, particularly the Nasa homepage (it used to ). Now I am forced to use QuickTime, which just isn't the same. I won't have RealPlayer on my computer either, just in case anyone suggests I download it.

View 8 Replies View RelatedSomething weird just happened. I was downloading entourage season 2 i was watching the episodes that were completed early and they worked fine. Finally when the torrent finished downloading, i moved the files to from the completed folder to my tv shows. And now the audio doesnt work. I tried playing some other files and they all work fine. But entorage season 2 doesnt work, even the files that worked earlier dont anymore?

I would go to the MSN site, choose the genre, choose the station and it would automatically open and begin to play in the media player. I eventually put a shortcut to my preferred station on my desktop.
About 2-3 months ago things changed. Instead of the media player opening up and playing the selected station immediately, it started downloaded a file (the station's?) before it would begin playback. All audio that opens in the media player (from MSN's music sites) will not begin before the player downloads a file; it is not the music file itself. This is strange. I have tried, unsuccessfully, to uninstall the media player. I thought by installing it again it would work properly. Does anyone have an idea of what is happening? Is this a new change in the media player?
I got a virus which I was successfully able to remove from my system but now Windows Media Player doesn't work. Clicking yes just takes me to their website where there isn't a version of WMP for Vista, only for XP. From what I've found there isn't a way to reinstall WMP for Vista. Is there a way to repair this error?

I opened Windows Media Player 11 and it started with Welcome to Window Media Player 11 for Vista window. It wants me to Choose the initial setting... Express or Custom. I can pick either one and the Finish button appears. I try click on the finish button, but nothing happens... the button doesn't animate to show it=E2=80=99s been clicked on. View 5 Replies View RelatedI have been wracking my brain for weeks now, trying to play C&C First Decade with Red Alert 2 Yuri's Revenge over the LAN, it will only run on IPX networking which I could setup with 2x XP machines, I have Vista Ultimate on my PC, and XP on another, I found some drivers for IPX to work on Vista, didn't work ... So I loaded Hamachi which had built-in IPX support. Now when I open RA2, it no longer says IPX unavailable, it shows 00 00 00...
So it can see my Hamachi adapter with IPX support, great! The other XP machine has Hamachi installed, and they are both VPN'd (Connected) on the same Hamachi Network. They don't see each other... The XP machine shows a few IPX networks, I have tried switching to them all, even put the Hamachi adapter and the LAN adapter to the top of the preferred networks list. This was sort-of a breeze with both XP, but with Vista it's looking to be a bit tricky. I have no firewalls running on either machine and I am pretty cluey when it comes to networking (TCP/IP that is).
Ive just bought some new headphones yet when i plug them in the sound still comes out of the speakers. I know the headphones do work because i use them with my mp3 player
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a brand new HP Pavilion Media Center m8100n with DVD super multi drive/CD writer. I can play my wedding dvd, but when I try to play commercially purchased DVD's (either with Windows Media Player or Windows Media Center) I get some message and am unable to watch.
Windows Media Player states: cannot play this DVD because there is a problem with digital copy protection between your DVD drive, decoder, and video card. Try installing an updated driver for your video card. Windows Media Center states: DVD may be in use by another application. If all other applications are closed, the video resolution may need to be loweredor the display connection type may not support playback of the DVD. I contacted HP and a nice person tryied to help via internet connection. They had me uninstal/reinstal Roxio and also send me to a site to get an updated driver.

I don't know if they are related but a couple of weeks ago I down loaded from the Microsoft site programs for reading the newer versions of Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.
I have tried to find the Media Player software on the Microsoft site thinking I could reinstall it but all I can find is updates to it. I don't even know what version of Media Players I have. I am using Vista, with all current patches.
Does anyone know of any good DVD player software that works with Vista 64bit, I have tried Power DVd 6 but that keeps crashing even with the patch from Power DVd's web site. I have tired Windows Meida Player but that keeps crashing to, I have even tried another disk drive but the same thing happens.

After I put the CD in my computer shows me that the software of my mp3 player cannot be installed. I tried my host's computer which is windows XP and it worked fine. running Vista Ultimate
We have a security camera that takes a short video when motion activated. The file is then emailed to the tech guys. I cannot view the video. It opens Windows Media player and then just sits there with a blank screen. I can use XP and the file plays just fine, just not on my Ultimate computer.
First of all I'm on vista home basic, second of all wmp was already installed on my pc when I received it. Lastly, it's always had this problem When I click on a mp3/avi/any wmp associated file it will launch the file audio, I can hear it BUT wmp doesn't open, I have to manually launch wmp before I can stop the file or do anything else.
I googled the problem many times and tried solutions but never got anywhere. I reset the assiociated files, I've checked for updates , I've run out of ideas. I was even going to unistall and reinstall it. Yet I can't seem to get a vista version from the microsoft webpage ?! So I don't want to uninstall it and loose it, or even try using wmp 10
instead, I'm worried it will mess up my machines default settings and/or media center!
