I am running Vista SP0 and Outlook 2003. On the admiistrator account, I can send and receive mail in both Outlook 2003 and windows Mail. On the non-administrator account, windows mail sends and recieves, but Outlook 2003 can send but not receive. The "test accounts settings" responds properly. All settings look to be identical.
View 4 RepliesI have an AT&T Yahoo! wireless set up. I can get to the Internet. I have set my POP and SMTP servers to the port numbers and secure connection settings in Outlook as instructed by AT&T Yahoo. However, I cannot get my e-mail to send or receive in Outlook. A tech told me to set up the Windows Mail to correct the problem but that just caused more problems because now my e-mail downloads from the server to Windows mail.
1) disable Windows mail and 2) find the patch I need for Vista to work with my AT&T Yahoo! e-mail account?
I am using Windows mail and don't like the way it works, especially the autocomplete feature in the address bar. Can I move all my settings, email, etc. to Outlook 2003 and if so how? I am only doing this to hopefully access the auto complete feature that I expect is available in Outlook like it was in Outlook Express.

I have called my isp and they tell me all my setting are correct. I have called so many time they know my voice now but they still can't get it to work. I have a vista computer that has it's own email. My provider is MSN and I bought an email service. I have directions from all three on how to set up pop3 on outlook. None of them will complete without errors and I can't send or receive emails in outlook. I realize I have to have correct user and passwords and those I have. There are different incoming and outgoing directions for all three.

Sending' reported error (0x80042109) : 'Outlook cannot connect to your outgoing (SMTP) e-mail server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).' i have tried to change my account settings but to no avail. 'my outgoing server requires authentication' is on.
Can receive emails via Windows email/Outlook but cant send them, problems with the outgoing server, changed the ports to all advised still nothing.

I've talked to my provider, they tell me that my set up is fine, but they don't know what's wrong. I'm getting error message of 0x800ccc0f. I've even tried other mail programs, like Thunderbird and Outlook. They don't work either and are giving me the same error message. I'm using a cable connection and haven't had this problem before, until a bought a new computer with Vista. The first day or two, my emails worked great, did not change any settings nor added any programs. Then all of a sudden, started getting the error messages. The only way that I can view my mail is to go to my providers web site and use web mail, which is a pain. I'm just about ready to junk vista and go back to Windows XP. at least, I didn't have problems like this.
