No video picture, only sound with Real Player and other video programs after
upgrading to Vista Ultimate (from clean installed Vista Business). Windows
Mediaplayer works fine but it does not play 'rm' format.
My autoplay function is being change automatically and I can't figure out why. I have to load what ever ie.. jumpdrive, sd card, thumbdrive, cd/dvd and so on then the last program I used to do what ever with said media thats what opens. Instead of giving me the choice to pick what I want it to do. I have to go in manually and change everything to default and click save.
All is ok untill I use say copy a music cd and it starts all over again. Say this time I have a picture cd, I put it in and the copy cd opens up. I have to go in agian change it back and start agian. It just a pain in the butt. Is there a way to stop this from happening on a permanent basiss.
I can be playing a video - divx, mpg, VBO, anything - and all of a sudden it becomes distorted, as shown in the attatchment. It also distorts the mouse, which I can't screen cap. It doesn't take long after this happens for the machine to freeze up; it muts be reset via reset button, because using Shutdown or Restart from Windows goes to a plain blue screen.
At first I thought it was the codecs, so I removed the K-Lite codec pack and installed a Vista 64 codec pack. I've done a Memtest and its fine, and the video and CPU temps are all fine. It ONLY happens while playing videos, and then randomly. I can watch a 2 hour movie sometimes with no problem, other time it happens in 15 mins. Sometimes after a reset I can continue on without the issue, other times it crop up again in 5 mins. I can play games for hours without a single problem, and I'm talking intense games like Crysis, and Age of Conan.

What I would like to do is make home movies (no editing) and drag and drop thes video files to Vista pc and then be able to watch the video on my media extenders. I am going to buy a new video camera, a hd model with a hard drive. My question is can I do this without converting the video to another format? Does anyone make a camcorder that records in a format that is supported by media center or does anyone make a plugin for media center that will allow AVCHD playback? Which format is used to record standard def. video as opposed to high def.
View 4 Replies View Relatedi just reinstalled vista ultimate x64 on my machine after replacing the motherboard. while in the process of the setting up the system, i found that my video card would work correctly unless i had downloaded the latest drivers [drivers on the disc did not work correctly]. that issue is resolved but thought it might be relevant to this current issue.
if i open ie7 [no add-ons, straight off a fresh install] my computer freezes completely and a reboot is needed. this same issue happens when i try to play a .avi in wmp11. the first time it froze i thought maybe it was the lack of codecs, so i downloaded the cccp. after this was installed, the same issue happened. i then uninstalled cccp and installed vlc, froze just like wmp11 both times before when trying to open video file. i loaded picassa3 on my machine to manage photos, when this begins to search for media, it too freezes just as previously described. i can play videos from hulu.com and Internet no problem......
I have a dell notebook with Vista Home Basic SP1. AVG Anti virus. Starting some point in time (maybe after installing SP1 ??? but I can not guarantee) I can not play video at certain sites. When trying to do that IE crushes. I have tried to remove all IE add-ons and get them back, updated java, Flash Player and directx but no luck until now. Not sure if it relates but I got a suggestion in another forum to specifically set IE as the default web browser instead of: ???Use my current web browser??? (Start-> Default Programs-> Set Program Access and computer defaults -> Custom). But the problem here is that this configuration it is not kept. Meaning: After setting this (and actually any other setting there) and entering this configuration again ??? you can see this configuration remained as it was in the beginning.

Apparently Microsoft has "disabled" older codec's which prevents certain AVI's from playing in Vista. If you have Indeo 3.1x AVI's this hack might be useful. Ironically, Microsoft shipped with Vista all three dll's (the codec) needed to play Indeo 3.1x AVI's, so only this registry key is required to enable them. Intel Indeo was sold to Ligos. Ligos states the following:
"the 3.x video codec is no longer available nor supported"
Microsoft recommends that you convert older AVI's and not use this "deprecated" codec.
WARNING: this is a HACK and involves making a single REG_SZ string.If you do not know what the consequences of editing the registry are you should not attempt this. Use this HACK at your own risk and peril.

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I try to play video or audio files on Media Center through the TV via HDMI, the video and audio is very laggy. It also sounds sort of static like. When I play CD's or DVD's the problem is resolved. Also, when I unplug the HDMI, the problem is resolved. Also, when I minimize Media Center, the problem is resolved. It only happens when the HDMI is plugged in and Media Center is Maximized. I have searched all over and have not been able to find a solution to this problem. I have tried changing the HDMI cords and changing the HDMI input on the TV. I've also tried to use a different TV and no luck.

I have a quad-boot Intel CoreDuo machine with 4 GB of memory and an ATI AIW X1900 Radeon (multi-booting courtesy of EasyBCD). To put the matter as quickly as possible, all four systems (Vista 32, Vista 64, XP, and Ubuntu) have been happily coexisting for a long time. I haven't used Vista 64 for about 10 days and went in to do some work on it this morning. To my surprise, the video disappeared immediately after the green startup wait indicator. Eventually, after about the usual amount of time and hard disk activity, the startup sound came on but absolutely no video. I restored my full backup of the Vista 64 partition from last Sunday=97 same problem!
I went in on safe mode but it is impossible to change video settings or install new drivers in safe mode so that was a dead end. I tried the repair utility that comes with Vista but it could find no problem with startup. My working hypothesis is that something has gone wrong with the video drivers although that may not be the case. Even if it were, I can think of no way of fixing it short of completely rebuilding the Vista 64 system checked desperately do not want to do
who has purchased a JVC Everio HDD video camera has probably learned that they chose to use some god forsaken proprietary video format - the .MOD extension. Apparently this is some sort of MPEG2 encoding, however, most major video editing suites prefer not to accept this format? what we need is something more common? such as .AVI or .MPG. I would be happy with the .MOD file format if the software that came with the JVC Everio actually worked.

I am running Windows Vista Ultimate and when I stream videos from websites like Gametrailers.com as either a Windows Media or a Quicktime file the video is choppy and has sound issues. If I download the same video there is no choppyness and once the stream is no longer on HTTP and is on CACHE it is fine. I know i have enough bandwidth for the video and under statistics I does not show any errors .I have all the latest drivers and service packs. I have reinstalled Vista as both 32 bit and 64 bit to see if there was some difference. I also have this same issue on my Laptop running Vista.

I used Ad-Aware Anniversary Edition and I thought I had a virus, so then I scanned the 254 cookies and yeah. I'm not sure if it was gone before or after that but my pictures are gone.
