View 4 Replies View RelatedI installed an audio card (Sound Blaster X-Fi model SB046APCS) and I can't hear any sound comming out of my PC (I build it myself). The sound tests tell me everyting is working OK and that there are no confilcts with the card. Yesterday I downloaded the Vista audio driver SBXF_PCDVT_LB_2_15_0004.exe from Creative and still no sound. When performing the diagnostics, I can see a green color going up and down in the sound bar but thats all.
I have an Intel DX38BT motherboard, do I have to disable whatvever options there are for audio in the BIOS or the motherboard disables it when it detects an audio card installed? The sound card is recognized by the hardware manager. The dvd burners installed are the Plextor 810SA (sata) and the Memorex dvd burner(model 32023220). I have placed the music cd in both, with the same result, no sound can be heard. The speakers I am using are the JBL Creature (which works OK on my other pc).
i just reinstalled vista ultimate x64 on my machine after replacing the motherboard. while in the process of the setting up the system, i found that my video card would work correctly unless i had downloaded the latest drivers [drivers on the disc did not work correctly]. that issue is resolved but thought it might be relevant to this current issue.
if i open ie7 [no add-ons, straight off a fresh install] my computer freezes completely and a reboot is needed. this same issue happens when i try to play a .avi in wmp11. the first time it froze i thought maybe it was the lack of codecs, so i downloaded the cccp. after this was installed, the same issue happened. i then uninstalled cccp and installed vlc, froze just like wmp11 both times before when trying to open video file. i loaded picassa3 on my machine to manage photos, when this begins to search for media, it too freezes just as previously described. i can play videos from hulu.com and Internet no problem......
I have a dell notebook with Vista Home Basic SP1. AVG Anti virus. Starting some point in time (maybe after installing SP1 ??? but I can not guarantee) I can not play video at certain sites. When trying to do that IE crushes. I have tried to remove all IE add-ons and get them back, updated java, Flash Player and directx but no luck until now. Not sure if it relates but I got a suggestion in another forum to specifically set IE as the default web browser instead of: ???Use my current web browser??? (Start-> Default Programs-> Set Program Access and computer defaults -> Custom). But the problem here is that this configuration it is not kept. Meaning: After setting this (and actually any other setting there) and entering this configuration again ??? you can see this configuration remained as it was in the beginning.

I also bought 2GB PNY DDR2 667Mhz for just £12. It starts of 1-2 second then stops, while you can hear the sound, then plays the video for another 1-2 second and stops again, while you can hear the sound.When attempts to play the video, it jumps to where video should be together with the soudn you can see pixels and very slow movements and it stops again. Almost it seems that it is buffering the video while attempting to play it in the same time. I know that max resolution is 2560x1600 which is more then enough to 1080p HD videos. I have 17" monitor, Q6600, 4GB ram. how can I play 1080p HD file without having video output start stop. Ironically, Microsoft shipped with Vista all three dll's (the codec) needed to play Indeo 3.1x AVI's, so only this registry key is required to enable them. Intel Indeo was sold to Ligos. Ligos states the following:
"the 3.x video codec is no longer available nor supported"
Microsoft recommends that you convert older AVI's and not use this "deprecated" codec.

I keep getting a problem with the screen when I play "trackmania" it's like some of the text and texture is blurry. Weird thing is I don't have any problems with other games like Fallout 3 or Call of duty 4-5 and so on. Those games I play with highest settings and no fuzz with the texture there. I have been mixing around with the nvidia control panelt lately and tried a lot of stuff but nothing worked. My current setting is "let the program decide 3D settings"I run vista 64 bit and intel i7 950 with 6GB ram.
When I try to play video or audio files on Media Center through the TV via HDMI, the video and audio is very laggy. It also sounds sort of static like. When I play CD's or DVD's the problem is resolved. Also, when I unplug the HDMI, the problem is resolved. Also, when I minimize Media Center, the problem is resolved. It only happens when the HDMI is plugged in and Media Center is Maximized. I have searched all over and have not been able to find a solution to this problem. I have tried changing the HDMI cords and changing the HDMI input on the TV. I've also tried to use a different TV and no luck.

I am running version 7.14.10.1329. I read that SP1 will not update if the driver version is between 7.14.10.1322 and 7.14.10.1403. Tried to download the drivers from Intels webside they were not compatable. I called Toshiba support, they told me the driver I have is the moste recent driver and that I would not be able to upgrade to SP1.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have just brought a Media PC with a en9800GTX video card which has 2 DVI ports, I was told by the supplier that it is meant to be really good and do everything, I was also told when i got the machine that I really needed a HD TV with an HDMI port on the back so I had to go and get a panasonic TH-42PZ80B again being assured that this was what I needed. further to that I had to get a HDMI cable that would connect to the ports of the video card (via a hdmi to DVI converter) again being assured that this was everything I needed. Picture quality is great but there is no sound!
I can plug speakers into the back of the pc (green port with a standard cable) but there is nothing coming out of the TV, I have been told to right click on the sound icon in vista a change the audio to the TV but it is not listed! the media PC was brought on the basis of being speced to the hilt but there seems to be so much conflicting information and nothing works! 4k down and seems that I have brought a donkey!
I replaced my video card and after doing so, I noticed that the 'Automatic Activation occurs in 3 days' message was in the Welcome Centre. I clicked it and now it tells me that my product key is already active on another machine! It is isn't - it's the same machine. All I did was replace my video card.

I've been using an ASUS nvidia 8800 GTX for over a year and it really sux ...since i installed Vista 64Ultimate its getting worse. My first issue with it, was a power supply compatibility issue with my Antec 1000W power source when not recognizing the power it gets and the nvidia sentinel down-clocking the GPU ... now in Vista64 i have lot's of BSoD's, driver crashes and recovers, etc... I assumed they would eventially get the drivers right, but no luck yet.
My last BSoD it' regarding nvlddmkm.sys (0x00000116) which, from what i read on forums doesn't have a fix till now and can be also encountered with nvidia 9800 cards. So can anyone recommend a video card that its tested (ATI or Nvidia) and it runs smooth with a Vista64 system, with no major driver issues or BSOD's? PS I forgot to mention that i need a card suitable for most of the 3D games as WoW, AoC, Crysis with nice fps. My system is:
A while back I began getting a BSOD about a nVidia graphics card driver. Finally (kinda) resolved that by going to the nVidia web page and Dling/installing the latest driver. However, two problems persist. minor - I can not use any Direct3D screensaver - keep getting "The screen saver can't run because it requires a newer video card or one that's compatible with Direct3D." major - my PC is MUCH slower - that is, for example, when I open Explorer, it takes ~ 45 sec. to a minute to open as opposed to nearly instantly before the BSOD. on startup, icons on the desktop show up as white objects and slowly change to the actual icon image a few at a time. Before this, icons initially (instantly) appeared as the actual icon.
HP had me reomve the video card and wait for a beep - none - and remove the RAM cards and wait for a beep - one short, one long. Now they want me to do a System Restore. I am not at all interested in this. Previous attempts have resulted in reinstalling programs/settings over several days - time I do not have. Any ideas on troubleshooting/resolving this? Can I confirm a good nVidia card? Could it be a driver problem?
