Everything about Microsoft Windows Flight Simulator works fine, except there is no sound whatsoever. What may be the cause of this? I haven't used the simulator in a while, and this is the first time on Vista Home Premium.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI got FSX Deluxe today and after running both disks and installing the game I get a notice saying: "Flight Simulator cannot run because the version of Microsoft DirectX(R) installed on your computer is incompatible. Please reinstall DirectX 9.0 by running Flight Simulator Setup, or download the current version from www.microsoft.com/directx."
I have downloaded the November 2008 Update from several websites and I am able to run them and get to the point that it brings up the "Installing Components" screen and then a notice comes up saying: "Setup has detected one or more DirectX component files are in-use by an application. Please exit all applications before running DirectX setup agian." After that it brings up a screen saying that the installation has failed with a "finish" button. I have closed all files and tried agian, restarted my computer and tried, turned my computer all the way off let it sit and read it a story and tried agian, I have combed through the processes in Task Manager and removed any that I believe could have been using DirectX and tried all the combinations above agian.
I am running a Dell Inspiron 1525 with 32 bit Vista Ultimate, and haven't had problems with any other games up to this point (World of Warcraft, Age of Empires, Halo, ect.). I am sorry if this is a repeat thread, I've been all over the place looking for possible answers and haven't found anything.
I am running vista on a brand new computer which has Ge-Force8800GS card, 2 Gb DDr memory and Intel core2duo processor. My problem is with Flight sim X. I am finding that the graphics on Vista in FSX are much worse than on my old XP setup. I have a 17in Medion flat screen monitor and have tried every resolution setting on it but no better. I have also downloaded service packs1 & 2 but no improvement.

I choose to create a desktop icon but it is not created. AFter I close the sim for the 1st time, I can not find it anywhere, not in program files, etc.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a dell 530s slim tower Inspriation desktop. All I want to do is be able to use the Windows Flight Sim Acceleration software. The card that comes with the computer doesn't have enough Horse power. I need a card that would be like a ge Force3 Radeon 8500 or better. The problem is getting a card that will fit in the case and slot. I'm told its a half card or slim profile. What will work? I would rather not spend more than $75. Is this doeable for something realiable. The Flight Sim without loading the Acceleration software that provides carrier ops, pylon racing etc. As I am a retired Marine Corps attack/fighter pilot it would be nice to try these.

Meaning when I record something, it would record whatever is playing on the computer. But I forgot how to make that setting.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded to Vista U x64 and am having sound problems. I have a prelude x-fi sound card but the sound coming out of it is extremely low. I have maxed out every thing I can max (control panel sound, creative panel) and the sound level is whisper quiet. I have also upgraded all my drivers except the prelude's, I would but their website isn't offering those drivers at the moment. But the drivers supplied with the card are vista certified so I should get something. But my mobo, etc is all updated. I have been searching for a solution for two days to no avail.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI am running Office Home and Student 2007 and have just run a diagnostic which suggests that my installation is not up to date and that I go to the Microsoft Update site and download any available updates. When I do, I am asked to sign on with 'Microsoft Update'. The idea is, I think, to combine this Microsoft Update with my Windows Update and let Office updates come though along with updates for Vista, IE, etc. I have posted here before with issues concerning updates including a fiasco I had last November which involved Office updates and am wondering, since Office seems to be working well at the moment (I was bored so I did a diagnostic ) should I bother with this or just leave it? Does Office have security issues like IE and Vista?

I opened Device Manager and found everything normal: there was no yellow questions marks beside the Sound item. The speaker cables are also firmly connected to the PC. Ive had no sound since I instaled Vista Im gona try to explain to problem even tho my Vista is in swedish. Anyway when I got to the thing were I choose what kind of sound I wont for exampel "Stereo" (Right and Left speaker) or 5.1-surround. Ive only got 2 speakers so mine is set to Stereo and theres no sound from the right and left speaker. BUT when I try the
square option whit 4 speakers: Right and Left still no sound from but the Back Right and Back Left theres sound.

Windows was able to successfully install device driver software, but the driver software encountered a problem when it tried to run. The problem code is 10.
I bought a new laptop with vista home premium 32, she set it up as a standard user an now it's impossible to install anything onto computer because the system is still asking for admin. password and even if we know that one (well there haven't been password set up) in that dialog box it's nowhere to write it. How we can make her account changed to administrator?
Only one way I came up with is to use recovery disk set it up differently, well not sure about that and don't fancy it much.
I installed the service pack 1 and I don't have sound now. I have tried reinstalling my drivers, and all that other mumbo-jumbo from the microsoft page, but I still don't have sound.

just installed Vista HP 64 bit and it went pretty good, for the most part. I am dual booting w/XP Pro 32 bit, on seperate hard drives. I'm pretty impressed so far. I do have one major problem - no sound at all. Here's my hardware setup: asus p5q pro, Intel c2d e8400, saphire radeon 4850, auzentech x-fi prelude, logitech z-5500, seagate 320gb sata(XP Pro), seagate 640gb sata(vista). soundcard & spkrs. work great in XP. I went to auzen website & d/l latest drivers, drilled down thru all the vista options & menus I could find, checked device mngr.

When I enter the soundcard setup pages and test various options, the sound plays fine through all speakers. So there is a link between the computer and the speaker system, and the correct speakers are used as they are tested. But I'm not getting any system sounds playing, and nothing from Media Player when playing music files.

1.Speakers - Logitech Wireless Headset (works perfect)
2.Speakers - SoundMAX Integrated Digital HD Audio
3.SPDIF Interface - SoundMAX Integrated Digital HD Audio

i have one computer with vista ultimate x64, and two laptops with vista home premium 32bit. all 3 computers have the same problem. all computers are new dell computers, too. in windows media center, when i play music files, the volume is normal. all of windows media center's sounds and windows' sounds play at normal volume. if i'm watching tv through wmc, the volume is very low. volume is also low for watching any kind of internet tv, or movies from netflix, through windows media center. any music being played through a browser is very low (i use firefox, but have noticed this problem in internet explorer as well). on my laptops, which use internal speakers, are so quiet at max volume that it is almost impossible to watch any sort of video because you simply cannot hear it. with the ultimate computer, the sound output is hooked up to a home stereo receiver, but i have to max out the volume on the receiver when watching tv or listening to anything through a browser, and then if i play a music file, either through wmc or wmp, it is deafening loud.
in the browser, the volume is up all the way in the applet (such as Internet). the computer's volume is all the way up, and every mixer bar in the mixer is turned all the way up for each application. for example, if i'm playing something through firefox, the volume slider for firefox in the sound mixer is all the way up. when music is playing though, lets say through firefox, the volume in the Internet window will be up all the way, the firefox slider will be up all the way, but the little green bar that moves up and down with the music telling you your sound level is only at the very bottom of the range. and doesn't move very much when sound is playing. it maybe goes 1/10th of the way up at most.
I just got a new 37inch LG flatscreen for use as my computer monitor/tv/movie watching screen. I threw in a DVD last night with intent on watching it on Vindows Media Center. the DVD plays fine, and i can use the remote that i bouhgt just fine, but i get no audio at all. My music plays fine, and videos i play that are on my computer play fine, adn i tried it in Windows Media Player, and Audio is there, but then i cannot use my remote control, which makes me a littel of the sadness. I tried the "Set up your speakers" in the WMC tasks menu, but to no avail. I am using the on board sound from my nVidia 680i Montherboard with a Logitech X-540 5.1 Surround sound.
