Mouse Not Recognized After Reboot Following The 04/08 Patch
Apr 9, 2008
I have a new system that has been working flawlessly til this patch. vista64 home premium, and the offending device is a microsoft usb wheelmouse optical. Now when ever I reboot it says new hardware found and driver instillation failed. I downloaded and installed intellipoint 6.1 for 64bit. and device manager shows no conflict and if i just clear out of the error boxes it works fine. Just everytime I reboot it does same thing again. It in fact, it cannot even recognize the device it is trying to install drivers for which is why i think it fails the driver update on reboot. I found out the hard way by telling vista to ignore the problem and it promptly disconnected the mouse altogether. I tried restoring to a point before the patch but it did not fix
the problem. One of the patches warned that it cannot be removed , so my guess is that is what is causing the problem.

I note that a common subject here is the problem of USB wireless mice not being recognized by computers. For what it's worth the following is my experience. This evening my 3 year old Logitech wireless mouse just stopped working, abruptly, and I started getting repeated messages of an unknown USB device even with nothing attached. I tried the mouse on two other computers...it worked fine. I tried a system restore from yesterday with no results. I followed the advice offered on other threads to delete USB ports and reboot...no go. Still weird behavior. I noted that one person with a similar problem turned off notebook and removed and reinstalled battery...whalla! It works. The mouse now functions and no more strange messages. I have Vista Home Premium 64 bit on a Sony Vaio notebook.

I can install CoH from my DVD no problem. The game works. When I try to patch it, the game becomes corrupt. I can get patch 1.40 to install, after that it is a no go. I am completely frustrated. I must be having a hardware conflict or a corrupt install disc. I do a selective startup with only Windows services running. Each an every time I get this error message involving this file "ww2data.sga" and this code: Error 10104. Anyone else on Vista 64 experiencing this problem? This is the first real SNAFU I have encountered with 64. Sucks, especially when it is a "Games For Windows" game. RelicNews Forums - Can't Patch beyond 1.4 in CoH w/ Vista 64

After installing the patch the singleplayer is fine but it seems multiplayer is broken. If I start a server it loads the map but locks up straight away, also looks as though it's missing textures(random black spots) It even crashes from menus if I try and change my character as its also missing textures (all black) Ive tried uninstalling, reinstalling etc. Latest Catalyst drivers, card is a 4870. Running as admin, compatability mode etc make no difference, weird as it works fine with no patch, unfortuantely all the servers require 1.42.

I have an old Logitech but fully functional mouse (cordless optical).
When I ran Vista x86 Ultimate, I installed a small program that allowed me to double-click with middle mouse button. Now, with Vista x64 Ultimate, it doesn't work anymore.
Do someone know another small program to allow me that?

"The virus came unexpectedly. I thought my defenses were good enough, but clearly I was unprepared. This virus has proved to be unusually tenacious. I can't seem to clear it out. As soon as I see progress, the bug reemerges and attacks my system. The point: Exploits happen. Merry Christmas and be glad it's not Happy New Year. Security exploits or attacks are now commonplace during the holidays. Somebody should be grateful that Microsoft got to this one early. If this is the only big security problem during the holidays, your IT organization got off easy.
Still, for many IT organizations and even consumers, today's out-of-band Internet Explorer patch is late enough to be trouble. Who wants to be distributing patches during the annual holiday party (assuming your company has one and it's no wake for those employees surviving layoffs)? For some consumers, that patch didn't come soon enough; they've been exploited already...........

Is there a patch for running 16 Bit Software on a windows vista 64 OS. The error message I am getting states: "The version of this files is not compatible wiith the version of windows you're running." My second question: How do you check your system information to see whether you need an x86 (32-bit) or X64 (64-bit) version of the program?

I'm having trouble enabling AHCI under Windows Vista Business x64. I initially installed the OS with AHCI enabled in the BIOS, but I receive stop code 7B upon reboot. The only way to get the OS to boot is to disable AHCI in the BIOS. The last time I installed the OS, I was able to apply a registry patch and manually copy IaStor.sys (from the Intel Matrix Storage Manager driver) into the WindowsSystem32drivers folder. This would allow me to boot and run the system with AHCI enabled, and utilize the Intel Turbo Memory flash cache module I installed. I also made sure that Msahci.sys was set to start on boot as per the instructions at
Now, for some reason, this procedure no longer works. I still receive stop code 7B upon reboot. (Note that I am not able to install the Intel Matrix Storage Manager driver or the Intel Turbo Memory driver until after AHCI is working. Attempting to do so results in an error message that my system "does not meet the minimum requirements".)I'm trying this on a Dell Vostro 1500 with a PM965 chipset and ICH8 I/O controller hub. This is the contents of the registry file I'm using:

I have the following issue and hope that somebody can give me a hint about what might be going on! My system has two raid 1 arrays - one is running on XP Professional SP3 the other one is running on Vista x64 Ultimate SP1. When I start my virtual machines (either from the Virtual PC console or when double-clicking the *.vmc files) than everything is working fine on XP and the virtual machines are booting and running as expected. However, on Vista the following is happening (and I hope somebody has an idea):
1. Starting the Virtual machines from the console leads to an immediate reboot of my host machine (I can't even see any boot screen of the virtual machine - it is like clicking start in the VPC console -- > reboot of host).
Now I tried the following:.........

I had internet for a whole day when all of a sudden my connection was gone. At first I thought it could of been that the usb stick is broken, so I went out and got a new one. Plugged that one in and the same thing happens.
Every time I plug it into my pc I hear the sound that Vista makes when a device is not recognized. I installed all the drivers and everything was working fine 2 days ago. I'm now using my old usb connector and it's working great. I tried all the usb connectors but all of them make the sound when a device is not recognized.

I had been running Vista since it came out last year with no compatible issues at all. However, there were several issues with performance and finally late last year I gave up and went back to XP. Now that the SP1 is available, I want to go back and install Vista, but for some reason, my computer won't recognize the disc. It trys, but just can't load it. I've tried other DVDs and have burned a couple and they all work fine. For whatever reason, the problem is with the Vista DVD.

I have an Ultra ATA 100 drive that will not install in BIOS or Vista 32 ultimate OS. I have support on my motherboard for 66/100/133 pata (as well as sata II). I have all dated drivers for the motherboard. I'm using VIA's Hyperion Pro drivers. I think my problem is setting jumpers in the drive. I've tried the drive on both primary master and slave, and secondary primary and slave buses. I've also tried the drive in combinations of 2 HDD and 1 HDD, 1 dvd rom. I've set the jumper to cable select, master, and no jumper with no results. However, the drive works in an AMD box running XP 32. The HDD it is not working in is Vista 32 sp1 ultimate. As it is now i have the HDD on the same secondary bus as my dvd rom. The HDD is set to master, and not showing up anywhere. The drive is a Maxtor 40gb.

I'm troubleshooting a friends computer and can'tseem to get it working.Basically, he's running Vista Home Prem 32bit. He just bought a new Canon MP480 inkjet printer and everytime he plugs it into his laptop he gets the "USB Device Not Recognized". I tested his printer and cable on my laptop (Vista Ultimate 64bit) and it IDs the printer and tries to install just fine. We're both running SP1 and I just did a double check and I we're both fully up-to-date on Windows update.I've tried uninstalling the USB hardware and then doing new install of the Intel chipset drivers.I've tried "forcing" the driver install using "driver update", but Vista just comes back and says "Driver for "unknown device" currently has the best driver confused I've tried draining the laptops power and I've tried a "driver inf cache" delete thing as well.

My flash drive and my picture device are not being recognized when I plug into my front USB ports. The wireless keyboard/mouse is in a USB port right next to it and that works. I even unplugged that thinking maybe it was a "power" issue. I am a novice, why won't my USB devices work, nothing comes up when I plug them in, just a "bleep" sound but NOTHING else.

I have searched the forums through and through, i have removed filters from the registry, rebooted, deleted the driver from device manager and let the system reinstall. When I put a disc in my drive, autoplay does not start or anything. I have checked the autoplay settings and they all seem to be correct. I can put a music CD in and go to Media Player and play the CD. but when I go to my computer and open the drive it doesn't show any files. this is not just for music cd's, it is dvd's, programs and everything. My drive is the Optiard AD-7653 (that is how it is listed in the device manager)
