Modify Winmail Rule?
Mar 17, 2009I am using rules to move junkmail to a folder, but I would like to automatically forward it to spam@barracuda.net as well. Is there a way to modify the ACTION spec to forward as well as move?

Cannot Modify MBR On Vista
Mar 23, 2008I have 2 HDDs in my comp, 1 is 80GB and the other is 300GB. After my Vista crashed I tried to do a dual boot of XP and Vista so I partitioned my 80 GB drive to 65GB and 15GB. I installed XP on the 15GB partition which was given the drive letter "E:". After configuring XP I installed Vista on "C:". The first thing I noticed was that is said one of my partitions on the 2nd 300GB HDD was titled "Unallocated Space" which is not true as I had filled it's 175GB up to the brim with data. Anyways I tried to make a new partition out of it and it gave me an error code "0x8004240f" but it didn't do anything to the partition (the letter "F:" was given to it by XP). So after installing Vista on "C:" I went back to XP to check and the drive was fine and so was all the data. I cannot touch the drive on Vista. I cannot modify the MBR on vista either to correct the problem.

Now any computer on the network can browse to any other computer on the network and read / modify the files. The problem is that if I copy anything INTO the share or say download something directly into the share it is unable to be read. I need to right click on the individual file and mod the security settings to add

Can't Modify Power Settings
Aug 5, 2008i can't modify my power settings. When i try to change my power plan settings it says that my power plan info isnt available. I then go to the FAQ part and it says "If your computer is part of a network at an organization—such as a school, government agency, or business—your organization's system administrator might have made certain settings unavailable or even removed them by using Group Policy. Group Policy is a feature of Windows that lets system administrators manage users' access to Windows features. If you think that Group Policy is preventing you from changing a setting that you need to access, contact your system administrator."
I have NO idea what this means.. this is my personal computer and is not part of any newtworks. I then tried to change my account type to "standard user" so i could fix the problem, but my computer won't let me. I even created a new user account and made that one a standard user but it didn't fix the probelm. How do i gain access to my power plan so i can modify it?
Digital Camera Won't Modify
Nov 2, 2009I just uploaded pictures from my digital camera to the computer and now it wont let me modify them. I am panicing! It deleted them off my camera and now I can't upload them anywhere or even modify them. I'm losing my son's memories. This is the only time I didn't "Name" them when uploading because it said it was optional. Any other Windows I have had would just automaticly name them for me and no problem. Now I can't modify and save. It tells me: Changes to this picture have not been saved. The file may be read-only or you might not have permission to save to the pictures location. They are not read only. I went into the properties and checked. This is so horrible. I have never had to deal with this. I even took a mock picture and named it when I imported it and I can do what ever I want to that picture including save modifications.

Apr 8, 2009I can't modify any files or folders anywhere on my computer. For example, if I create a new folder on my desktop, when I try to rename it the name still stays at 'New Folder' which I can't get rid of. Also I can't encrypt any files or folders. I am the administrator of the computer and there is no other users. I have tried taking full control of the files/folders on the security tab on properties and also using software like 'Unlocker' but nothing seems to work.

Jun 24, 2008Just like in Windows ME, when I go to the shutdown menu, I get a default option of "Sleep". That's probably the very last thing I'd ever want to do, but usually when I go there I want to "Restart". I use a desktop shortcut for a complete system shut down. How can I change that default, from "Sleep" to "Restart". I know, I know, this is NOT a critical problem, but so far I'm having little or few problems with Vista, that I can't figure out. So far, I've got it running almost as good as XP.

Jun 22, 2008Using WinXP, you could go to File Types tab and modify them manually. The tab is missing in Vista. Problem: In XP, I had my sound recorder associated with my .wav files. I modified the properties of the file extension so it would open, play the sound, the close. In Vista, I can't seem to be able to edit the Open or the Play aspect. How can I do this in Vista. Please don't ask me why...we all have our own personal reasons for doing what we do...I just want to be able to do it in Vista...if it's possible.

Nov 2, 2009I recently bought a laptop with VISTA. My software will not run on it. I have contacted the seller of the software and they do not plan to modify their software to run on any platform except XP. I did buy XP and install it on the laptop. My program does run, but many of the basic PC functions do not run properly. even the mouse pad and keyboard acts very erratic. It is driving me crazy! I am ready to give up and buy a different laptop. When I look for one via Google, all I get are ones that run VISTA or 7. I would be willing to even buy a used PC. I need a reputable source. I need around 2GHZ and 3MB. All the basic functions PLUS XP. I am not a gamer.

Mar 26, 2008I will be using 100GB HD for Vista. I have never partitioned a drive before. I do have Partition Magic but have not looked at it yet. I was wondering if it makes sense to divide the HD so Vista is on one part but the other programs install on a different partition. Would that make reformatting Vista easier? If it is a good idea how much should be allocated to the Vista partition. Can Vista do it adequately or should I use PM for making the partitions. As you can guess I don't understand partitioning rules at all!

I also get another warning stating that an application is attempting to modify my system, which is potentially dangerous, that application is "WmiApSrv.exe" and is located in "C:WindowsSystem32wbem". Is this something that I need to be concerned about? I recently re-installed Vista so there really shouldn't be anything malicious on my system. Mar 23, 2010In Windows mail i've made two accounts.
One of the accounts is an alias of the same emailbox.
They log in with the same accountname and password.
Recently i've made a rule in Windows mail so that all email from one of the accounts is placed is its respective folder.
The rule works partially because now, all email from both accounts is moved to the folder, while only one of the account is mentioned in the rule.
It looks like it has something to do with the fact that one of the accounts is an alias. The use the same emailbox.
Can someone please tell me if this is the case.
Has someone have any experience with the problem mentioned above.
The OS is Vista.

Feb 13, 2010I have a rather odd situation, or at least for me, as I have never seen this problem before. The Contacts list in the To dropdown list in the Create mail windows does not match the Contacts list when I click on the Contacts icon on the toolbar of the WinMail window.
The names in the To list are listed with the last name first, which I never do, at least, not by intent. There are also names in the To list that are not in the correct Contacts list, and some that are in the correct Contacts list but not in the To list. There are some of the names from the Messenger that I never send emails to so I don't know how they are getting in that list. It really is irksome to start to send an email and click on the To tab in the email window and the name I want is not listed in that list, but, is in the regular Contacts list, I I have to type in the whole thing, or take the time to look up the name in the correct list and copy past the addy to the To bar in the email............
Scrambled Email In Winmail
Jan 28, 2010I have a large number of folders, several thousand, that I use to keep student tests and forms for our free online Bible College. A new problem has developed, starting October of 2009, which is now increasing in the number of folders affected. The email tests and forms will come in with one Subject line but something totally unrelated in the body of the email. Example: The Subject line will say "The Bible One Quiz Results" but the body will contain the test results for Salvation 5. And the file that is in the body is many times very repetative over several email submissions from my students............

Jun 13, 2008Contrary to others I love Vista!Meanwhile I have 3 machines running under Vista (my desktop, my TabletPC and my wife's desktop). What bothers me most at present:
For app. 2 weeks - out if a sudden - on my desktop (and only there) I'm having an unseen phenomenon with the screen layout:
Below the normal parts of the WinMail-window (columns for the folders[left side] and the headers preview and the messages preview [right,upper and lower half]) appears a sub-window with a scrollbar which stretches across the whole WinMail window. This sub-windows always is totally empty (no contents at all).
As this description might be unclear, pls see:

I cab drag this sub-window bigger and smaller. But there always remain a minimal height determined by the "Up" and "Down" scroll-button (arrows).

Importing From XP Outlook To WinMail
Apr 9, 2008How do I get my emails from XP Outlook to Vista WinMail? I thought I had backed up my emails in both Vista and Outlook, but when I try to import them it says that the folders are empty, which they are not. The Outlook folders have files with .DBX extensions and the Vista folder has files with numbered files. Can't I somehow just copy these files into the Vista mail store?

Jul 29, 2009After giving up for a while I am once again attempting to open WinMail e-mail attachments. What I did today was uninstall IE8 (thanks for the procedure). Once this completed, the machine rebooted to save changes. I then opend IE and clicked "help" to check the verion (7). So far so good. Then I went back to WinMail and tried opening an attachment. Still unable to open a .jpeg, ..doc, .pdf, etc. Right click, "save to" funtion doesn't work either.
