May 10, 2010Just encountered a problem when trying to install a device to my PC... its not compatible with vista!! is there any way i can still install this device onto my PC?

No Sound After Installing SP: PnP Audio Device Failure
May 23, 2008I just installed SP1 on my Home Premium 64bit. After installing it, all my sound is gone. I checked the Help page about this subject, and found out that the drivers or my "PnP Audio Device" are not up to date (there is a yellow triangle with !-mark in front of it). I tried to update them via Device Manager, but it didn't work.

I've now downloaded the latest drivers from Gigabyte

Intel INF installation (Chipset) 9.1.1.1020 16/11/09
Realtek LAN Driver 6.227.0902.2009 26/10/09
And it still will not install the "Audio Device On High Definition Audio Bus, the exclamation mark is still there and the speaker icon in the system tray has got a red cross with "No Audio Output Device is Installed"
Installing/ Partition No Mass Storage Device Displayed
Nov 7, 2007I make a new RAID setup. everything is good. i load up vista and i get to the install/partition screen. No mass storage device is displayed. I go to install drivers and i try everything, from old XP drivers 32 and 64 bit drivers alike. I am installing Windows Vista 64. I am running Promise Fasttrak 579 Serial ATA in RAID 0 (2 HDD)

Mar 19, 2009I have been trying to install a Canon Pixma 160 Multifunction Scanner/Printer on my Gateway Computer with Vista Home operating system.After many hours on the phone with Canon, trying two different printers and a new USB cable, Canon determined that there is a problem with Vista (possibly a security issue), and each time that the drivers are downloaded and shows up on the computer as being downloaded, Vista does something that cause me to get the "usb device not recognized" message.

Mar 23, 2008Can not get my HP 7400 scanner to work after upgrading to Vista Ultimate 32 bit. Not the hardware - works fine under XP pro using same hardware configuration. Did a clean install, installed motherboard BIOS updates, scanner BIOS updates, Vista updates and the correct driver from HP. The scanner installed and Device Manager says device is working properly. When I try to scan, scanner initializes, starts to scan then locks up. Then can no longer be seen. ASUS M2N-E motherboard with AMD dual core. Other than that Vista works OK with the rest of my system

Sep 30, 2008i have installed the correct driver for this belkin bluetooth usb dongle model: F8T012XX1 but in device manager, it has the belkin device and microsoft bluetooth enumerator, which is great. but when u get further down the list. it has a tab named "other devices" and then a subtab with "bluetooth peripheral device" which has an exclemation mark on it. i have searched for driver software using the update service but it cant find no update. i have looked for the name of the manufacturer but found nothing.i then disabled the unknown device, and sent a picture to my mobile phone. which confirmed that it was not the belkin bluetooth device. so i uninstalled the unknown device, restarted the computer. then when i logged in, it said that it had found a new device and wanted me to find the CD that came with it.

Jun 1, 2009I know this is a repetitive topic, but I can not seem to figure this one out. It is a HP Laptop DV9815nr. I do not know much about it as it is not mine, but the problem is the audio was cutting out and now there is nothing. The computer is not recognizing any type of audio device installed. Even in Device Manager, there is no option for Sound, game and controllers. I have tried downloading the driver and installing, but no luck there.

May 1, 2009I'm running Home Premium 64 on a Sony Vaio Laptop (CS170F). I'm having a curious problem: Yesterday I plugged into the machine the dongle of my wireless logitech mouse, and for some reason the machine said "Your unknown device is ready to use" (my OS is in spanish, the messages may not be accurately translated). Since then, an annoying message pops every few seconds warning about an "unrecognized USB device", that "didn't work as expected". The best part is this, if I click on the tray icon, sometimes the informative dialog window is emply, an other times shows all the USB ports in the system plus one extra with a "unknown UBS device", even without any device plugged into the system. I've tryed removing the unknown device from the device manager, but it shows up again.
USB Mouse: "USB Human Interface Device" In Device Manager Won't Work
May 21, 2008I had been running Vista Ultimate x64 for a few months and recently found that I can only use the original USB mouse?! Installation of any USB mouse would show a new "USB Human Interface Device" in Device Manager but it just won't work. Installation of the very same model of my original mouse didn't work neither. I went into the BIOS to change the boot order and inserted my Vista home premium 32bit. I then got windows is loading in files. After a short while I got the black start up screen with Microsoft Corporation but after a few seconds it just froze. Moments later it went to a blue screen with white writing part of which said the following; A PROBLEM HAS BEEN DETECTED AND WINDOWS HAS BEEN SHUT DOWN TO PREVENT DAMAGE TI YOUR COMPUTER.

Feb 28, 2009I'm troubleshooting a friends computer and can'tseem to get it working.Basically, he's running Vista Home Prem 32bit. He just bought a new Canon MP480 inkjet printer and everytime he plugs it into his laptop he gets the "USB Device Not Recognized". I tested his printer and cable on my laptop (Vista Ultimate 64bit) and it IDs the printer and tries to install just fine. We're both running SP1 and I just did a double check and I we're both fully up-to-date on Windows update.I've tried uninstalling the USB hardware and then doing new install of the Intel chipset drivers.I've tried "forcing" the driver install using "driver update", but Vista just comes back and says "Driver for "unknown device" currently has the best driver confused I've tried draining the laptops power and I've tried a "driver inf cache" delete thing as well.

May 19, 2008I have a Lenovo Thinkpad T60p and a Lenovo USB Webcam. I installed SP1 and the camera stopped working so I uninstalled SP1 and it still doesn't work, it appears as "Unknown device". Is Microsoft going to publish some solution? I see all the reports and there are a lot people having the same problem.Should I come back to XP?

May 14, 2008I have been using a Trust 7 Port USB Hub with Vista SP1, using the built in Vista driver, without issue. However, Vista has suddenly started to report this has 'USB Device Not Recognized'. The hub works with XP and other USB devices work fine when plugged into the same port. I have tried deleting the infcache.1 file as suggested in other threads but no joy.

Unfortunately Vista does not install the necessary USB mass storage driver and for that does not recognize the device. In device manager this is shown as "unknown device". I'm not able to use it and TomTom support told me that only the basic USB mass storage driver is needed and that is produced by the OS vendor.

All of a sudden for no apparent reason approximately 2 days ago my PC stop recognizing ANY USB device (being the built-in cam, iPod and other USB's) that is being attached to ANY of the ports. I try to set up or attach a USB device, and instead of connecting, I get a message that the driver can't be found and asking me to insert the disk. When I click that I don't have the disk, I invariably get a option to search for the driver, but it is never found. This has happened with two different flash drives, and just now I tried to set up a Pocket PC mobile device and got the same response. I have been using my laptop without SP1, and do not get these problems. It seems that the best thing might be to just get rid of SP1, but when I went to the installed updates window to try to uninstall it, I was not given that option

Feb 7, 2009Ok so for a few days now my audio has not been working, I use it quite frequently with itunes and dvds etc but not ever very loudly. I've been on my laptop's website and have tried everything they've suggested except for system restore, and nothing has worked. I've made sure my computer is completely updated, I have downloaded the newest update of the audio driver from the website, and still no luck. In Device Manager it says everything is working, I have no error signs either. The mixer picks up the sounds when I test for it, I just can't hear it! It doesn't work with headphones either, although when I plug my headphones in and pull the socket in and out a little bit I can hear crackles in the headphones.

Jun 5, 2009I just got a new computer with 64-bit Vista Home Premium, and am having some issues with devices. When I connected my Lexmark X6100 printer, Vista recognized it and even took me to the website to download drivers, which I then installed. when I bring up Printers in Control Panel, the Lexmark is not listed. The X6100 also includes a scanner which again Vista found, but it directed me to the same download as for the printer (not surprising). There is an entry for the Lexmark X6100 in my Start Menu, but the only option there is to uninstall the software.
My old computer ran XP Pro and the Lexmark worked perfectly there. There was even an icon in the system tray that appeared at startup. A second issue has arisen with my webcam, a Logitech Quickcam Pro 5000, which Vista also recognized, and there was a prompt which looked as though it was from the Logitech driver asking for a disk which I did not provide, because I didn't think it was necessary. The cam also worked well under XP without any additional software installation.
Vista's Device Manager reports that both devices are working properly, but I am unable to access either of them. I also installed a program called PDF Factory which I used as my default printer on my old computer, and it's working just fine - and it shows up in my Printer panel.

Jul 29, 2009I have a SanDisk 16gb cruzer that is easily recognized in my XP Pro machines and was for a brief while on my 2 Vista Ultimate machines. A few weeks ago, my 2 Vista Machines stop recognizing it. If I go to device manager, I can see it listed as a disk drive. To get it to work I scroll down to USB Mass Storage Device and disable/enable it and it pops up and all is good. If I look in Computer Mgmt /Disk Mgmt, it shows up as unallocated so it does not get assigned a driver letter. If I boot the PC with the usb drive inserted it works fine.
I called Sandisk technial support and they said it was "Vista problem" because the drive works in XP and in a friend's computer also running Vista. Can one delete all USB devices in Vista without doing a complete reload of Vista. Maybe setting all USB paramters back to that after a clean install would help?
CDRW/DVD Device Can Not Working
Apr 21, 2009I used to be able to put a CD in my CD drive and upload the music to my itunes program. But, recently, when I put a CD in my drive, nothing happens at all. So, I went into the device manager and there is a message that says: "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)"
