Gigabyte MB Not Installing Audio Device On High Defintion Bus
Nov 25, 2009
Having recently had to update my motherboard and graphics card I am no not getting any sound.
MB Gigabyte Ga_EP45-UD3LR
Graphics XFX Radeon HD 4870
All drivers loaded for both items.
I've now downloaded the latest drivers from Gigabyte
Realtek Function driver for Realtek Azalia audio chip (Including Microsoft UAA Driver in English edition) 5.10.0.5973 24/11/09
Intel INF installation (Chipset) 9.1.1.1020 16/11/09
Realtek LAN Driver 6.227.0902.2009 26/10/09
And it still will not install the "Audio Device On High Definition Audio Bus, the exclamation mark is still there and the speaker icon in the system tray has got a red cross with "No Audio Output Device is Installed"

I just installed SP1 on my Home Premium 64bit. After installing it, all my sound is gone. I checked the Help page about this subject, and found out that the drivers or my "PnP Audio Device" are not up to date (there is a yellow triangle with !-mark in front of it). I tried to update them via Device Manager, but it didn't work.

my sound stopped working suddenly - I don't even get the windows start-up sound anymore. I have tried upating drivers and that did not work, i think i see my problem: I have attached a capture of my sound screen from the control panel. It says my speakers are not plugged in but i use an HDMI cable to my monitor which is also my speakers and my monitor works fine.

Both pre and post SP1 whenever I install a game my memory usage starts to climb. It usually hovers around 30-33% at idle. While installing it eventually peaks @ 99-100% and will drop to about 95-97% after the install is finished. For the life of me I can't figure out whats causing it.
I just installed lost planet and had the same issue. It happened with COD4, Supreme commander, and Crysis too. I've added screnshots from during the install, post install and after I reboot (because the memory does not go back to normal until then).

I know this is a repetitive topic, but I can not seem to figure this one out. It is a HP Laptop DV9815nr. I do not know much about it as it is not mine, but the problem is the audio was cutting out and now there is nothing. The computer is not recognizing any type of audio device installed. Even in Device Manager, there is no option for Sound, game and controllers. I have tried downloading the driver and installing, but no luck there.

So I mananaged to get my Old HP PSC 500 to work on my HP Pavillion a6030n with VISTA gave up on the scanning part totally. Bought and installed a new I/O card to do this and tinkered for days! NOW, I realize I have NO SOUND searched all of the threads and experimented with various and sundry but to no avail. The speakers were old JBL PROs had been working changed them out for some old BOSTON speakers (also working on old Gateway) still getting the "No Audio Output Device Installed" and don't even get a "Sound and Video" portion in Device Manager!
Tried downloading Realtek AC97-Audio-Codec-driver-A397 as it was mentioned as a fix in another thread. No joy! Will installing another driver help this? I can't see why the card would be damaged as the previous install didn't go near it. I am not a total novice but small words would be helpful as my brainmatter is fried and not a lot of hair left on the head.

I have a problem (obviously). My laptop will not play sound. When I hover my cursor over the sound icon in the lower-left corner of the screen, a message pops up stating that 'No Audio Output Device is installed'. Does anyone know how to fix this?

I'm getting the following message: 'Windows encountered a problem installing the driver software for your device'...It appears that the High Definition Audio Controller is having a problem installing (The System cannot find the file specified). I have tried downloading the latest driver, but it still doesn't appear to install. Does anyone know of a way to solve this - I've tried a lot of different things, but I still get the message that there is 'No Audio Output Device is Installed'.

Since my recent automatic Windows update, my laptop no longer recognises an audio output device, claiming one is not installed. All troubleshooting guides just tell me to enable the device, which is impossible as it says it is not installed as opposed to simply disabled. I have never had this problem before, as my laptop has in built speakers. how to solve this so I can actually get sound?

so i just got internet to my computer after almost 2 years of it being out of commission, it still worked and we were able to play games like solitaire and the sims but there was no internet hooked up to it. it installed all kinds of updates and one night i was listening to music via wmp and the next day i went to listen and it said "no audio output device is installed"
i tried updating the device and it said that my driver was up to date.
i also tried uninstalling it and rebooting my computer and that didn't work.
i don't see any error messages in the device manager, i clicked the icon with the little magnifying glass and nothing showed up.
i don't know what else i can do, besides take my computer and throw it into traffic.
i have alot of music on this computer that i listen to on a daily basis and would hate to have to switch it all to a new computer, or even buy a new computer for that matter just because my speakers aren't working.

I installed SRS Audio Soundbox on my HP laptop running vista ultimate with Realtek HD audio. It installed a audio device of its own, which I can select under control panel->sound. SRS Soundbox panel is set to start with windows. But I only want to use SRS to process audio coming out of Zoom-Player, so I have setup Zoom Player to use this audio device instead of default Realtek. My problem is that everytime laptop restarts or wakes from sleep (essentially everytime SRS's control panel starts), SRS makes itself the default audio device, which I have to go and change back to Realtek. Is there a way I could lock-up the default device, so it wouldn't change?? or do something else so that Realtek stays the default audio device.

ive been getting this problem for a while now, even after system restoring. whenever im running something that requires audio, eg. itunes, ventrilo, Internet video etc a balloon will pop up from 'realtek hd audio manager' saying a device (my headphones) has been unplugged, it will then say the device has been plugged in again. it cuts the audio for about a second (very frustrating) and if i am in game, will make me lag also. it seems to occur more frequently when i am in vent and in game, if more than 2-3 people talk at once it will happen definately. i have tried reinstalling directx10, playing around inside the realtek hd audio manager.. but to no prevail.

I bought a set of speakers for my laptop and in the process of trying to get them to work I seem to have somehow disabled my internal speaker. Now my computer keeps telling me that I have no audio output device installed. I'm not sure how to get things working again - either the newly purchased external speakers or the internal one which has worked just fine up until now.

I have a laptop (Dell XPS M1330) running Vista Home Premium 32bit featuring an HDMI port and, as far as I can see, a soundcard called SigmaTel High Definition Audio. I regularly watch videos on my LCD TV using HDMI and I am constantly annoyed by the fact that the audio output doesn't automatically switch over to HDMI when the cable is connected (or vice versa when the cable is disconnected).
One would expect it to do so as this is how it generally works when f.ex. headphones are connected and indeed, on my laptop, the audio switches from speakers to headphones automatically without any problems. My solution to the problem is to manually change the default output device to HDMI and then restarting the media player. I cannot see why this operation cannot be automatic, and therefore I ask of you all if there is any way to accomplish an automatic switch from speakers to HDMI when an HDMI cable is connected

I guess SigmaTel is famous for putting out pretty ****ty audio hardware/software because a lot of people claim to having had problems with thier sound cards...Anyway, I have no sound coming from my speakers what so ever except for the windows error beep. Theres an "x" on the speakers on the taskbar. The device name is there and claims to be working when I hover over the speaker sys. tray icon, also in device manager and in playback devices. Although the Levels tab in Sound>Speakers/Headphones>Properties is completely empty. The Volume Mixer claims there is NO audio device installed even tho' its there when I hover on the speaker icon. I've tried uninstalling and installing just about everything possible from both gateway and windows but the problem persists...

When I hover over the sound icon, it said "No Audio Output Device Installed". I have had this laptop for over 2 years and this is the first time this has happened.I have been reading several posts and many of them say to go to the "Sound, Video & Game controllers" tab in the Device Manager. However, that tab doesn't exist for me. I even clicked "Show Hidden Devices".

I upgraded to Vista two days ago and then had the "no audio device found" problem. After trying several different things, I located a SigmaTel HD Audio Codec through Dell (I have a Dell Diminsion E510 w/Zylux speakers). Now, the "no audio device found" seems to be fixed--in that the little red box with the x is gone, and the volume indicator shows the volume is going up and down when I'm testing. Of course, I still can't hear any sound. I'm at a loss. I've unplugged the speakers several time (they make a nice humming when I plug them back in so I don't think they're the problem). I've rebooted so many times I've lost count.

G'day, the only problem I've been having after playing games is an error message pointing to a file called, GSvr.exe. It's never been a 'real' problem because it doesn't seem to do any harm...it's just annoying. I contacted Gigabyte because I was sure the issue was related to their motherboard. I'm posting this so that others in the same boat have an idea of Gigabyte's official fix.
Thank you for your kindly mail and inquiry. About the issue you mentioned, because the GSvr.exe refers to the DESA program, so please try following steps:

(2) If problem still occurs, please update your motherboard BIOS to the latest version and test again. To download the latest F8 BIOS version, please CLICK HERE. I have been trying to install a Canon Pixma 160 Multifunction Scanner/Printer on my Gateway Computer with Vista Home operating system. After many hours on the phone with Canon, trying two different printers and a new USB cable, Canon determined that there is a problem with Vista (possibly a security issue), and each time that the drivers are downloaded and shows up on the computer as being downloaded, Vista does something that cause me to get the "usb device not recognized" message.

It came with everything supposedly checked to make sure it was running fine. Well, when I first went to boot up, it didn't give me the POST beep, and it went as far as the vista loading bar then a black screen and nothing. I reset it and tried once more and it did the same thing. I turned it off, pulled everything out and reseated it, and it started up and launched into Vista. I thought I had fixed it but once I rebooted again, the same problems occurred.
After doing some reading on the Gigabyte site, it appears it's a common problem with the MB, and all I have to do is update the BIOS and everything will be fine. After I downloaded the correct file from the site, I tried to run the flasher from the desktop and it tells me it's not compatible with a 64 bit OS. I have no idea what to try now, how can I update my MB BIOS if it won't update on a 64 bit OS? I don't have another HD with a 32 bit OS I can install, and I don't have a floppy drive to try and do it from DOS.
