View 9 Replies View Relatedi recently got a new wireless Microsoft keyboard/Mouse combo. The mouse is too large for my hand. I do a lot of Photoshop and my hand is killing me, so I tried to install my old Logitec (comfortable) mouse. No go..I downloaded the newest Vista 64 bit drivers for both. The Microsoft keyboard has a stick-type USB. The Logitec mouse has a little USB thingie that sits on the desk. Only one of them will work at a time.I've tried every configuration I can think of and can't get them both to work at the same time. The thing is, when I got this new computer (with Vista) they both worked together fine..until I installed a new video card. Now they won't play nice together at all. The mouse hangs once in a while and akthough I have set it to be as precise as it can be..it
View 6 Replies View RelatedToday I installed my new "Wireless Entertainment Desktop 8000". This set includes the Keyboard 8000 and the Lasermouse 8000. I run a DELL Dimension 9200 PC for a while and had a Logitech Wireless Desktop set before that runned without any problems. What I was looking forward to was the navigation pad on the keyboard and the backlightet keys of it - and I liked the design of the devices. And to make this clear: the Wireless Entertainment Desktio 8000 set is very, very expensive on the market - about twice the price of my "old" Logitech set.
First the material-finish of both devices is very poor and looks just cheap to me. There are sharp plastic edges at the mouse or the mouse-keys on the keyboard just lock if you do not press them in their exact center. The keys don??t have a clear pressure point and move a bit hard. But that??s the small part of my disappointment!
The worst is that the entire mechanism is not capable to handle the sleep mode (where you don??t shut down the system but send it in hybernation mode - sorry, don??t know the correct word for it). Every time the system wakes up from sleep mode, both devices have lost connection to the computer and it??s time to reboot..........
I have a microsoft wireless keyboard and mouse which work really well but when I reboot, the keyboard shortcuts that I have programmed don't work until I go into properties and click on them and then click ok. The keys then work ok until I reboot again. Is there any way that I can programme the changes so they are the default programmes whenever I reboot. The software loaded fine and I clicked on apply and save when I originally set the keys.....I have a HP Pavilion DV6700 Laptop with windows visa home premium which is about one month old.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI was given a wireless KB & mouse and I'm trying to find out if I can use it on Vista. The name of it is Eagle Touch multimedia pro XP. Obviously the XP part jumped out at me, I would like to know if it's compatible with Vista? My computer, Dell Inspiron 531 is almost a year old.
View 5 Replies View Related1.) I've been (since I got the custom-built PC about a year ago) been using a wireless keyboard; the adapter is USB-connectable. All USB ports respond if/when I attach a device.
2.) I don't know the name of the "port," but where you'd normally plug-in any keyboard (6-pins, 1 square center pin, almost circle-shaped plug), I get no response.
3.) I tried plugging-in a wired keyboard that I borrowed from a friend. I even bought a new Microsoft keyboard, thinking the borrowed one was damaged. I'm positive at this point it's system/hardware-related.
4.) When I go into Device Manager and even view hidden devices, none of the drivers have that warning sign (yellow triangle + a "!" sign) by them. This indicates, to me at least, all my drivers are intact.
So, I'm having a problem, been having it since I built this new computer with Vista on it. I have a wireless keyboard and mouse combo, Microsoft Wireless Desktop 4000 I think. However, when the computer goes to sleep for more than around an hour or so, it seems to cut off power to the usb wireless controller. All the lights go off, and the mouse and keyboard will not wake up the computer.
If I restart the computer, the lights come on, but it still won't recognize the mouse or keyboard. The only way to get the computer to recognize them again is to go into the bios, and move the curser around (they are are recognized there), then exit and continue booting up. I've played around with the power management setting, turning off everything I can find, but they still don't seem to work.
I need to get wife, who is bedridden with progressive MS, a laptop so she e-mail and skype with her friends. It will also keep her brain stimulated and away from watching tv all day. I am looking for your input as to what is the better of the two or do you recommend something else. I have a wireless mouse and keyboard if she has trouble with her hand/eye coordination.

Microsoft has finally released an update for these users so that they can use screensavers once again in Windows Vista. Follow theses steps to get the update for your computer:
Click on the Start Button and type in Windows Update....
Maybe I could get an answer to my question that I should had asked when I was buying. This wireless mouse uses two "AA" batteries or rechargeable batteries. What about turning it off for the night or whenever I leave my computer? So that I don’t change them every two-three days.

View 9 Replies View Relateda friend has a new sony vaio with vista home premium installed. For some reason it will not connect to my netgear router wirelessly. I have tried everything. I am however not too hot on Vista as this is my first time with it. The adaptor says its on, but when you interegate it and ask why it wont connect it keeps telling me "switch on wireless adaptor capability". In the network connections it is on, the switch on the front right is swiitched on and the wireless network light on the front is on. The network is fine and working as i have my laptop connected to it. All security is present and entered. It seems to be the computer as it doesnt find any networks when there are loads in the area. Am i missing something exceptionally obvious? Does Vista have another "on" switch for this adaptor?

I updated the driver for the built in wireless card with out any results. I also tried a plug in wireless card which windows detected and said was working properly and this did not work either. I am running Office Home and Student 2007 and have just run a diagnostic which suggests that my installation is not up to date and that I go to the Microsoft Update site and download any available updates. When I do, I am asked to sign on with 'Microsoft Update'. The idea is, I think, to combine this Microsoft Update with my Windows Update and let Office updates come though along with updates for Vista, IE, etc. I have posted here before with issues concerning updates including a fiasco I had last November which involved Office updates and am wondering, since Office seems to be working well at the moment (I was bored so I did a diagnostic ) should I bother with this or just leave it? Does Office have security issues like IE and Vista?

trying to email and letters sometimes dont appear or get stuck.i'll look up from typing long sentence and its missing bits. does that make sense?
pressing the keys feels the same as normal, nothing sticky yet when writing it 'sticks'. or i have to type very very slowly to get a letter out.sometimes it works ,sometimes it wont but then will give me many of the same letter in a row ie repeating it depending on how many times i've pressed..
i phoned Dell and they suggested i turn off computer and restart-no good.
and then said try a different keyboard so we can work out whether its that or a software program.
i dont know what to do now cos my old keyboard is wireless so i obviously cant plug it in like the current one.
how do i do this?
i am only a beginner so please can you only give really simple answers with detailed explanation/directions. its not my computer but my husbands so i dont know how any of it was set up.
I recently had to reinstall vista (too many problems to mention!) but now it has switched my @ " | keys when the shift key is pressed. I only want to return them to what they were before and have tried installing the english keyboard but that hasn't helped.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI just recently built a new PC and I am installing windows home premium 64 bit for the first time on a PC. When installing vista everything was normal until there was a reboot in the installation. After the reboot it sent me to a windows error recovery screen where I am unable to select anything using the keyboard. The default selection is start windows normally so I wait for the countdown to finish because I have no other choice. Then it boots up and says the following:
The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install windows, click "OK" to restart the computer, and then restart the installation. So I click ok because once again I have to. Note: The keyboard is working again. This continues over and over again so I tried to reinstall windows again. I get the PC to boot from the DVD drive by using my keyboard and then it says: Press any key to boot from CD or DVD.
I am having a keyboard problem on the new computer. My keyboard [Logitech Cordless Desktop Comfort Laser] does not work when I run Vista Ultimate x64 normally. Every time I try to type in IE or Firefox, the program stops responding and then I restart the program and it yields the same results. I know the keyboard is not defective because I am using it right now in Safe mode and it is working fine. I have downloaded the Logitech Setpoint App. 64 bit version but there still is not any luck.
