get rid of a program, have looked in programs and features its not there looked in program files its not there looked in start-programs its not there i can click on control panel and its in the control panel but will not let me do any thing from there, i dont rember installing the program and i dont use it any how, i have windows vista 32-bit than you.

I can't find it...I can't even find 'Documents & Settings'. Where is this folder officially located in Vista (as I'm very used to XP Pro, only recently having converted over)...so I can drag&drop the executable?

I _*HAD,*_ until last week, a similar numbers of sub-folders under Windows Mail *Sent*, such as "To NatWest 09" or "To Family & Friends 09". All the *Sent* file folders have now disappeared. I have accessed Tools, Options,Advanced, Maintenance, Store Folder, Store Location and Change, but cannot find any of the Sent folders anywhere. Can anyone please suggest a way to find and restore them?

The whole codec thing is over my head and more trouble than I want to deal with. Is it a Vista thing? Are wav files no longer compatible? The old recorder program used to record and play them. I can't find anything that simple anymore.

So, someone in this group told me to upgrade to Windows Live Mail. I did that and so far have been very happy with it. Except that, I can't find new stationery for the program. I love using cloudeight stationery and it was working on the windows mail, but not on windows live mail. I emailed and asked them about this and the following is their reply to me. Is this true? Is Windows Live Mail really Hotmail? I look forward to hearing back from someone about this.

I was playing around with the permissions for one of my secondary drives that holds data e.g videos, mp3s so that my pal couldnt get into them and mess around with it and know it gives me this message everytime i try and access the drive.
Location is not available (this appears in the title bar of the error message)
I: is not accessible (this appears in the main part of the error message)
Access is denied (this appears under the above message in the error message)
And there is only an OK button i can press.
So here is how this all came about.
I right clicked on the drive,
selected properties,
Clicked on the security tab,
clicked on the "users" option under the "Group or user names" section,
Clicked on "edit",
clicked on the "users" option under the "Group or user names" section,
selected "deny" for every box under the "permissions for users" section,
clicked apply,
an clicked "ok" until the windows were all closed.
The drive name was then changed to "Access Denied" after i had done this with no letter assigned to the drive.
I went into computer management and assigned a drive letter but still no good.
I now right click the drive and select properties and the security tab is no longer there, so i cannot reverse the permissions.
I am logged in as an administrator.
I have tried to turn off UAC with no luck.
I have attempted to create another administrator account and change the permissions from there but no good.
So does anyone out there know of how i can get this drive accessible so i can access my files?

if it still cannot be located the information might have been moved to a different location. in afternoon session working fine i dont know suddenly this is the message is showing .. i dont know wat happend to this.
My Internet Explorer does not 'find' the Favorites. My Favorites fie folder has not moved and contains files but the I.E. does not 'look' in the correct location. How do I tell IE where the folder is. (The error message says it is trying to open a non-existent folder)

This must be because i accidentally dragged the Desktop onto my portable hard drive and it isn't attached. I also cannot have any desktop Icons. I've tried plugging in the P. View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a simple text file with a certain word in it. I try to find this text file, but vista won't find it. Windows 2000, linked by network, finds it within a second.
I have tried all available options.
"include non-indexed"
"always search file names and contents"
"find partial matches"
"include subfolders"
etc
etc
It just doesn't work. Why is there not a simple search function that actually works like in windows2000? I am using Vista Ultimate 64 bit. But not having a working search function doesn't look that "ultimate" to me.
I'm browsing for a new picture to put on msn and when I press "Browse" images, it goes to My Users.
Can you guys teach me how to change the default location to my Desktop when I press Browse? So I don't have to click 5 more times just to go onto Desktop.

I then would simply restart Vista (Home Premium) and all would be okay. What would be causing this? Nothing has changed on my system. Is this indicating that something catastophic is about to happen?! I have read the tutorial on how to restore missing folders. Fortunately I'm not at that point yet.

On my Vista Ultimate, 64-bit, I cannot find that collection of icons. I can find a nice collection at C:system32shell32.dll but it does not contain the specific icons I'm seeking.
Are there other icon libraries "hidden" in Vista which I can access and then look for my favorite icons?

Please, add a feature, in a patch or sevice pack, to allow to change simply the location of C:Users, or C:UsersOneUser folder location. I have done many internet searches, this seems not to be possible simply. And don't tell me that I have to change each folder location (Music, Pictures, and so on). This does not fit my need.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a new laptop running VISTA Home Premium. My home network consists of 3 PCs running Win XP Pro, 1 PC running win 2000 Pro and a laptop running Win XP Pro. All of the older w/s can map to the rest of the w/s using UNC mapping with admin user name and password. I can not get the VISTA laptop to connect to the rest of the network w/s using UNC mapping. I get the message Cannot connect to the drive location. I use the diagnose feature and it states that the drive is already mapped on this w/s by a different user.

this happened around one year ago before i discovered this site.. one day i clicked on start and on the music tab.. then an error occurred.. it says that the file location cannot be found. then i browsed 'my computer' there i saw that there are two files separated, a file location with the icon of the music folder, and one with simply a folder icon.. after five days, same thing happened with the my documents folder.. the separate file with the folder icon contains every single file of the "REAL" icon. while the other one has nothing in it.. same with the music icon..

View 9 Replies View Relatedmy network location on vista home laptop stays where it is but my computer with xp's home network location doesnt appear in the vista network and i get this error when trying to access my xp computer on the network with my vista laptop. however, when ever i connect my xp computer to my vista laptop with an ethernet cable and i do network set up wizard on the xp computer it temperarily connects to my network location but than when i unplug it after a while the network location on the xp computer disappears. both computers are in the same workgroup and can be seen. all i need to do is keep the xp computer in the same network location as my vista laptop so i can print through the workgroup.
