Where are the setting for HTML and PLAIN TEXT in Windows Mail? I was gettiing Quick news from CNN in HTML mode then it suddenly stoped coming so I went to the CNN web page to check it. All seemed ok so I check the box for PLAIN TEXT from HTML and the next day it started cominmg agaiin. Why would I beable to get this in plain text but when I change to HTML on this web site I get nothing at all from them?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am planning on getting a new system with Vista pre-installed (Type unknown yet but probably E-Machine or HP) and would like to redo it by installing a legal, registered version of MS Vista over the pre-installed copy thereby getting rid of all the pre-installed crap that the maker of the system put on it by reformating and installing the new copy of Vista. Question is might I run into problem or anything?!?! At present am running 98se on old system so I know nothing about Vista.

1) When changing the background from an image to just a plain color the sidebar does not change, it is still looking as if there is a background image behind it. It will only adapt to the change if you flip it from left to right, and back to left again. Same thing goes for taskbar/start menu bar on the bottom.
2) Sometime I get random re-boots when resuming from standbye or just for the hell of it sometimes.
For some weird reason the fonts in vista 64 are blurry when in the middle of my screen. if i scroll up or down then the blurry text goes clear and the text above it goes blurry. i have tried.. turning on and off clertype.. i just bought a brand new lcd.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI received zipped files via FTP. I extracted them and brought them to a C:folder. I have three choices: a CD, a Web or a LMS version. I cannot open any of the key HTML file in them. The choice is either player.html or index.html. I can view the source code but keep getting blocked. I tell Vista to allow blocked content. Nothing. I am the administrator. I started fooling with the Active X and Scripted security features since this is the warning I receive when trying to open the HTLM file. I enabled everything you aren't supposed to, received the dire warnings but still cannot access the content. I put everything back to default (because the dire warnings are scarey!) I am using Vista Home Premium. I am desperate to open any of these three files as I have a job using them next week.

I have a number of HTML files stored in documents folder, but when I try to edit the HTML file in notepad I get the following error message: Cannot create the file. Make sure that the path and file name are correct.
File and path are correct because I just opened it from the documents folder. What makes it strange is that if I change the extension from HTML to TXT I can edit and save without any issue, but once I change back to HTML I lose the ability to save any edits. Also, if I copy the HTML file to another folder such as desktop or C: root, I can edit without any issues. I've checked the properties of the folder and file and haven't found anything out of the ordinary. Searched the MS KB and haven't turned up anything.
Anybody notice how if you put URLs in HTML emails, they don't work? The HTML code adds a lot of alphanumeric stuff in front of the URL so it can't be located. I don't recall this problem prior to Vista Mail. So, if I want to be sure they'll work I'll have to turn off the HTML. Or, I'll save it as a draft then see if the URLS work- if they work in the draft folder, they'll usually work OK.

I can create and save an HTML file but can't save changes to an existing HTML file. When trying to save using Notepad, the error window says:

When trying to save using Notepad++, the error window says:
Save failed Please check whether if (sic) this file is opened in another program.
What I can do with Notepad (I haven't tried any work-around with Notepad++) is to first save the .html file as a .txt file, then open the .txt file and successfully save it as a .html file. I tell you this as a possible diagnostic clue; it is by no means an acceptable fix. This problem appeared suddenly out of the blue. I can think of nothing that might have caused it. I have tried the usual stuff, such as re-booting, but nothing has worked.
I used to use the HTML Slide show power toy thingy for XP. But it does not install on Vista. Is there a way to make an HTML slide show (export) for upload to my website with Vista? How to? This is a real bummer as I dont write HTML. Need wizards and the such.

Why when MS Outlook this supports? I know that Thunderbird doesn't allow it as well but WinMail is he "Microsoft" product isn't it? (1) A reset of IE did not fix the problem.
(2) A system restore to the day before installing QuickTime did fix the problem. This doesn't prove that QuickTime is at fault, of course, but I still have my suspicions. I will probably reload QuickTime shortly, and if the problem returns, I'll post it.
Note: It appears that the system restore reversed the IE reset, so for anyone (like me) who might be nervous about doing the reset, the restore is a safety backup.
For some reason my Windows Mail has stopped showing html. As late as 5PM this evening I was able to see stationery posts , but now all I get is text.=20...

I have followed the help instructions as I wanted to change the font to another style, colour etc. However 'Help' tells you to format your signature in a WP package and save in html format. Easy, I thought! In Word 2007 when you try to Save As - the html option si not in the drop down menu. so i tried in Wordpad, no luck ther either. how I save to html in vista? I had no problems in W.XP. Wish I had not had to change!

I have not changed anything in my settings or set-up but just recently one of my contacts say they just get what appears to be a blank email from me with a 1kb attachment image001.gif. However, if they open my email and click Forward, when the new window opens to put the forward address in, the message I sent can be read, with all the formatting etc I used. They say they haven't changed anything in their setup.

Dragon NaturallySpeaking (DNS) is *30* *TIMES* more accurate than Windows Speech Recognition (WSR) on any use where unusual words are involved, such as medical usage. Why? - because the "scan documents" feature of WSR is broken, just plain does not work. On a 600 word medical dictation, I get 30 text mistakes when I use WSR; I get ZERO text mistakes using DNS. It takes a long time to find and correct those 30 text mistakes.
That is a poor 95% text accuracy, a person would be better off just typing everything in. The same document scanning feature in DNS works fine. If I did not use that feature, then DNS would have almost as high an error rate as WSR does. The same document scanning feature in "MacSpeech Dictate 1.5.8", a speech app that only runs on Macs, works fine also, no text errors at all on a 600 word medical dictation, thanks to its "scan documents" feature actually working........
I run a larger Yahoo Group 1000+ and Yahoo sends html group mails to all members wherby yahoo inserts system messages and sometimes ads at a fixed right border, about 80 charactes to the right. Whilst other e-mail clients insert automatic line breaks into the mail text befor the yahoo generated blocks, Windows Mail does not, the yahoo generated blocks overlay the text, the text continues behind those blocks and continues to the right side as long as a line takes. The only way to show all of the text is to switch to text only display.
I checked all possible option settings I could find but cannot find any option which controls this in Windows mail specific html behaviour. Befor I tell my Vista Users to use Thunderbird or Outlook or other clients- is there a way to change the html behaviour?
My monitor is set at 1152 X 720 pixels. The default is 1440 x 900, but that makes everything so super tiny that I can't see text too well. Text size is set at default or standard. The Windows dialog boxes are all cut off so that at least one third of them cannot be seen. From using old Windows OS systems in the past, I can guess at what is unseen and just use the tab key to select "Ok, Cancel, and Apply".
But some boxes, for example, the "Sound Theme" dialog box has a whole section below of selecting sounds for events and I cannot see any of it.
Here's the clincher. Just to adjust my sound theme, I set my monitor to the microscopic 1440 x 900 setting and still cannot see the dialog boxes. The text size set on default.
What settings are these boxes viewable?
I should point out that my Sister and a couple of friends have
the exact same problem.
