Setup Vista Ultimate x64. I have the following printer HP color laserjet 2605dn and it won't let me print in duplex mode looked on Hp web site for installation drivers and found nothing, then I found this file EZInstall, but It can't find my printer on the network.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a Vista Business computer which, when I try to print using the auto-duplex unit on my HP Business Inkjet 1000 printer prints the second page upside down, whether I check the Flip Pages Up box or leave it unchecked. I do not have this problem on my Vista Home computer which uses the auto-duplex unit correctly. For some reason it looks as if the printer drivers on the two computers are different as the screens to set the properties are radically different. have posted some screen dumps from the two computers at to show the differences. Is there any way I can change the printer driver files, (or whatever files are causing the problem), on my Business computer to be the same as on my Home computer so that I can print all of my documents from the computer I use the most?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI changed laptops in a docking station and used a drivers CD to install the printer which was attached. Test pages and anything else I try to print goes into the print queue but never prints, finally showing an error. I downloaded the latest drivers from HP and installed them, but this hasn't fixed the problem. The original laptop still prints fine from that docking station. The old laptop was WinXP, this one is Vista. I ran the "FixIt" diagnostics but it said all problems were fixed, and it still won't print.

The printer is set up to my desktop computer wich runs Vista Ultimate and i have shared it in the network. Everything works alright until I adds the printer on my laptop. After that I can't print from any of the computers and the printer que just fills up and i can't empty it. If i reinstall the printer drivers on the desktop computer its start working there again but I cant get it to work propely when i have installed it on the laptop.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am trying to install this printer (HP Laserjet P2015d) on my Vista 64 machine. It works fine on my XP Pro machine. HP has posted drivers for this OS/printer configuration (HP LaserJet P2015 Printer series*-* Download drivers and software - HP Business Support Center).
However, the installation programs does not work. The installation program does not seem to recognize the printer even when the printer is connected and turned on. Ironically the device (occasionally) shows up on the Vista Device manager panel, but not on the printer panel. The installation instruction mentions that the new hardware wizard should pop up on connecting, but it does not.
I contacted HP support (a nightmarish labyrinth of automated messages). After negotiating through this maize for more than 15 minutes, I finally reach a human. Guess what? They want money to fix their own problem! It is hardly a year old.
I can no longer print front to back, looks like I lost the driver that let me do that, the HP drivers and the default don't work. There is an option to print on both sides but nothing happens when I click it. Anyone know the fix?

I use an HP laserjet 1100 parallel printer which I plug (via a USB-to-parallel converter cable) into a USB hub which feeds into one of the USB ports on my laptop. Very often, when I try to print (Word document, web page, pdf file, anything) nothing happens until I remove the converter cable from the USB hub and then reconnect it. After I have done this, the printer will then work fine from then on, but will then stop working whenever I reboot the computer. If, when I reach the point at which "nothing happens", I remove and rejoin the converter cable from the printer cable, or remove and rejoin the printer cable from the printer, that doesn't solve the problem. And if I have an extension USB cable joining the USB hub to the converter cable, and remove and rejoin the converter cable from the extension cable, that doesn't solve the problem either. The only thing which works is removing the cable from the USB hub and then reinserting it, and this usually works every time. It's not a big problem, but it's irritating to have to scrabble around about the cables. how I might be able to get my printer to start each time without having to fiddle about with the leads?
View 4 Replies View RelatedIf Vista no longer or hasn't been able to install your trusty Laser Jet 1000 printer driver, then you are not alone. The solution is to connect a slower 1.0 USB Hub in between the LaserJet 1000 and Vista. For my particular resolution a Belkin F5U021 USB Hub was the key to success. Once the hub was connected, Vista expeditiously recognized and automatically installed the HP Laser Jet 1000 driver, created for WinXP.....

(some sort of error message about C:/users/username/appdata/local/temp/low/ and some files therein.) I'm trying to install an Hp LaserJet printer, simple task... but then, after a couple of "next's" in the installation, a message pops up saying i have no administrator privileges... ok, after reading about the famous UAC, it still wont install after disableing it... I also tred moving some of the options on the administrative tools - local security settings... but thre's no way. I have reinstalled Vista a couple of times just in case and still nothing. I'm Runing Windows Vista Ultimate, tried with and with out SP1.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI now have Vista Home Premium 64bit. My HP Laserjet 1022 prints just fine... BUT it won't let me position the image on the page the way I want it to. Sometimes I have a 16x22-inch image that I need to print full-size--what I've always done in the past (when I had Windows XP) is print it in four different sections. When I would start to print, it would automatically show me how the image was positioned on the page and I could move it around to get it in the right position to print one-quarter at a time. Now it does not give me that option.

I have tried everything including downloading 64 bit drivers, changing the parallel port settings in the bios, etc. I suspect it has something to do with the port because the printer does not respond at all to anything I do.
View 6 Replies View RelatedUsing my ISP (Roadrunner Carolinas) speed test site; I get around 200 to 400 kbps download speeds using IE in normal mode. If I boot to Safe Mode, I get around 3500 to 4500 kbps, which is what it should be (this is what I used to get in normal mode before I re-installed Vista). Running the same speed test with Firefox, I get around 1500 to 2000 kbps in normal mode, but if I try to download a file it ransfers at only the 200 to 400 kbsp rate (if I'm lucky). Here's more detail about the system and what I've done so far:
Installed all updates including SP2.
Using Windows Firewall, no anti-virus.
Updated network drivers directly from NVidia (Chipset is nForce750i)
Updated graphics card drivers directly from NVidia
Disabled all LAN protocols except for Client for Microsoft Networks and IPv4
Connected via ethernet cable directly to cable modem, no router.
I've deliberately refrained from loading anything but the basics until I can get this sorted out..........

View 4 Replies View RelatedAfter trying at least a dozen suggestions without success, I followed this procedure to be able to print on a locally attached printer on a network PC with Win/XP home from another PC on the network that is running Vista Home Premium 64-bit ......
1. Open the Printers folder on the client computer from which you want to print, right-click a blank part of the window, click Run as administrator, click Add Printer.
2. In the Add Printer wizard, click Add a local printer.
3. On the Choose a printer port page, click Create a new port, select Local Port, and then click Next.
4. In the Port Name dialog box, type the network path to the printer to which you want to print. For example \server1printer1 (where server1 is the computer name of the print server and printer1 is the share name for the printer). Then click OK.
Note: Creating a local port instructs the client computer to use its own printer driver to render the printer as a RAW print job and send it directly to the port (which in this case goes to the print server). This obviates the need for the print server to provide feedback to the client, which can work around some authentication issues, as well as issues with mismatched driver versions on the print server and the client computer.
I have a few pcs networked together. All are running XP x86(using windows firewall) and have a different printer installed on each. I recently added a Vista x64 pc to the mix, it has no printer connect directly to it, and it can access all the other pcs from it(file sharing is good, same workgroup). My problems is that I cannot print from the Vista x64 system to any of the other Xp x86 systems. Contact your administrator for help locating and installing a suitable driver - when i try the x86 bit driver i get this message : Printer driver setup. Operation could not be completed(error 0x800f0214).
After trying for several months and not being able to print and haveing numerous other errors I am ready to go back to XP. I purchased this laptop new and it came with Vista Home Basic. I am tired of finding new compatibility issues every week and I still can't print properly. Is it possible to downgrade to XP without re-formatting so I don't have to reload everything? I have a licensed XP upgrade cd will it work?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've tried everything I know of to get my Brother intellifax 4100 (USB) to print. It shows up as a printer icon and even says it's the default printer. But when I try and print nothing happens. No document even shows up in the print cue. At first it self-installed (but still wouldn't work) then I installed it on the virtual usb printer port. Don't really know what I'm doing in that area. In any case, it says it's properly installed but it acts like it's not even there. Everything was fine on the XP system - sorry we switched.

I can access the shared folders and printer. I can send a print job to the printer from the laptop and I can see it in the print que but the job will not print it just sits there. I cant print a test page or any other document. I let Vista install the print drivers for the printer, a Lexmark 1270.
View 5 Replies View RelatedWhat happened in this case is I installed the printer just like any other network printer, but it doesn't print. I see the job in the queue, it spools, prints and then the queue is blank but nothing comes out of the printer. And there are no errors. I have verified from the XP machine the printer does work. I found another article in Microsoft's TechNet Forums.
It says to add a NEW local printer and use UNC naming to add the printer to the intranet. I have done this before at work with no problem. Vista is suppose to have these drivers built in, but when we tell it to add the printer after filling out the path to the printer \computernameprinter (using the shared name) it asks for the location of the driver. I do not know where to look for this and when I go to HP's www site I can not download the driver as it says it's built into the Vista operating system and doesn't offer it for download.
Where would I point the wizard to for the driver? I looked in the windowssystem32driversen_US folder, but couldn't tell if I was in the right place. I guess I could just keep putting folders in until I found the right one
I added HP printer using open as admintrator command through the control panel and I can see the printer on MS word control center, however it does not print at all. I tried printing via pdf and still it does not print. It seems that vista 64 is not seeing the printer.

The problem does not exist in Firefox or with any other application - Office 2007, Acrobat, etc. I am told that turning off 'protected mode' would solve the problem. Is there any fix that is a little less dangerous and time consuming? I have uninstalled and reinstalled printer [wireless] with fresh drivers. Printer is physically connected to a XP Home machine but attaching it to one of the Vista computers makes no difference.

I can print from the Word and Powerpoint applications in the Office 2007 package, but not from Excel. It looks like it prints (i.e. a small window opens and it says it is printing) but nothing comes out of the printer. I have 2 other PCs with the same setup (except the one PC is on XP), all print from all three Office applications, so it must be something with this particular PC (a laptop).

I get the a windows internet explorer error box indicating that it cannot find 'file///C:Users/Frank/AppData/Local/Temp/Low. Make sure the path or internet address is correct. Later I get a script error box. When I reboot I regain the ability to print from the internet and then when I really want to print something again the error returns. I have a very basic stand alone setup (no LAN) with hard wired Verizon Fios and a router. I have HP computer and printer.
