Lately I bought a new nice laptop with a strong cpu and lots of ram. The reason was, that a wanted to use it for both gaming, programming, designing and recording music.
This other day, I finaly had enough saved up for buying the M-Box 2 with Pro Tools software. At this point, I realised, for my big dissapointment and confusement, that it wasn't supported for my Vista system?
I learned, that Digidesign doesn't support Vista Home Basic, and overall doens't support 64 bit systems!? Ok, maybe this is Digidesign's problem, but then again - if I had known this before I bought my laptop, I would surely have bought a mac instead, so at that time it gets your problem.
My question is therefore: Why is M-Box 2 and Pro Tools not supported for x64 Vista systems, and why only a couple of x32 systems? This is simply not good enough, and I really must underline my dissapointment in this case.
I was looking for the snipping tool but it was gone, so I went to turn windows features on/off and the box was checked for tablet features. So I unchecked it and rebooted, went back to turn on features and rechecked it and rebooted again. Still the folder for tablet tools including the snipping tool is empty.
I've tried some methods already and still unable to use "Computer Management". I've tried having my computer in safe mode. I've tried going to cmd and net user administrator /active:yes and tried to access "Computer Management" I've switch on and off UAC. Note* I am logged on as the administrator. I am using Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit What can I do to access the Administrative Tools?
It reads in part "Ironically, the new operating system has been hailed by Microsoft as the most secure version of Windows to date. However, recent research conducted with statistics from over 1.4 million computers within the ThreatFire community has shown that Windows Vista is more susceptible to malware than the eight year old Windows 2000 operating system, and only 37% more secure than Windows XP," Clausen said. "
I installed the 64 bit version of DAEMON Tools (the 32 bit version won't even install), and it gives me this error when I try to run it that says:
Initialization error 7. This program requires at least Windows 2000 with SPTD 1.37 or higher. Kernel debugger must be deactivated.
What are they talking about? I'm using Vista x64, and this is the Vista x64 version. What is the kernel debugger, and how do I deactivate it (and do I even want to)?
Today I found that the Administrative Tools folder items are missing. This has happened before but can't remember how to fix it. Also when I attempt to merge a .reg file back into the registry the file simply opens with notepad for editing?
I was poking around and noticed the following: Administrative Tools > Services (%SystemRoot%system32services.msc). However the following exists as well: (%SystemRoot%SysWOW64services.msc). So, is Vista 64 by default using the 32bit versions, or are the 64bit version in system32 as well? Note: When I run both neither have the "*32" which I'm assuming is a flag for 32bit support.
I'm looking for a native x64 command line tool that can display the amount of free RAM. It has to be a true x64 tool. Does anyone know one? My google searches brought up nothing. Edit: I finally found what I was looking for. RamStatus is the tool that helped me out.
I need to go into the internet options from the drop down tools. When I click on internet options nothing happens. No little window opens with all the tabs in it.
I have a sound trigger for the 'Open program' event in Vista Basic sp2 x32 When my computer is idle and I "here" a program open the only thing I have to go by is the time it occurred. If I want to go to Event Viewer in Administrative Tools and see what this event was that triggered the event sound I'm overwhelmed with a bunch of categories and sub-categories. In order to find what opened at the specific time I need to check each category and sub-category. That is a real pain in the ass. I find no search capabilities in Event Viewer unless I've missed it. Is there some way of making a hunt for a specific time easier in Event Viewer? Or, is there some 3rd party software with the capability to sort all events by data and time??
I have disc defragmenter to run at a certain time, say I am away from my pc and my screen saver comes on does it still work? as in run disc defrag still?

I have just built 2 new ISO's (one for 64-bit and one for 32-bit). It contains a crap loada stuff. It has about 10 programs (installation files) of all the best removal products available these days. The links are:
32-bit: MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service
64-bit: MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service
I will be making video tutorials soon, and post them online or wrap them up in the ISO (not sure yet, dont want size to become a factor). Anyways, use them out, and let me know if there are any programs I should add. Remember, this iso is for programs needed for removal of infections, not other computer needs.
Well im trying to mount a ISO file with daemon tools version 4.12.3. It's in Finnish and says that : "Autorun stopped working, windows is checking to solve this problem". Well i tried to enable daemon tools in this autorun crap in : control panel -> system -> systems preferences -> executive function -> the on in up. And i added daemon tools there, clicked use and ok then i rebooted and still that annoying thing is there when im trying to mount.
I am having trouble signing into msnews.microsoft.com from the toolbar button and the menu selection under tools. If I try to send a message (including this one) I get "Not Responding" . I have to then close Windows Mail from the Task Manager, reopen Windows Mail and try to send again. Is there some reason the Windows Mail does this even though I have given it my Windows Live ID and password?
I do have Window Vista premium and it says on window mail not available. I followed a suggestion toclick on tools and then option, but I do not have an option to click on in tools.
Im currently rebuidling a friends computer. I am installing vista and adding software for him. Is there any software I can add that will let me take control of the computer when he is back at home and I am at my house? I dont want him to be able to see the program starting up all the time because I may never need to use it and he doesnt want me to install it. However I know in a few weeks time he will be on the phone asking me to deploy Logmein IT Reach to him and I really cant be bothered. I want to set it up now so I can control it whenever I need to. I have also installed a hidden admin account to use.

I have had this problem for a now while. As you see in the title an instance of svchost.exe always using about 70,000 K (right now another using 88,000 K) in task manager and I would like to know why and if I can bring that number down. If I right click it and click go to Services, the following are shown:........
Disabling Windows Update in Administrative Tools Services does nothing. I have 2 GB RAM also.
In Outlook Express, I was able to have different inboxes under different folders for multiple email accounts. For example, I want my yahoo.com emails and sbcglobal.net emails placed into different inboxes. I can't find any options under Tools/Accounts to specify this, and when I create a new folder, my only choice of where to place the new folder is under Local Folder.
With the release of Windows Server 2008 and Windows Vista SP1 Microsoft removed the old management tools that shipped with RTM Vista. When you install Windows Vista SP1 you will notice that the Group Policy Management Client (GPMC.msc) and other features are no longer available. They have been uninstalled from your system.
Microsoft replaced the old uitilities with updated version in the Remote Server ...
Re: Vista Ultimate 64-bit I changed settings for several Services - disabling some - etc & made some trouble for myself.I did find some tech web pages that suggested how to edit/make large scale register changes - sounded risky. Can I return all the Vista/Administrative Tools/ Services back to their default settings - within Windows Vista - without having to reinstall or make other drastic choices? I do have backups but failed to note the dates of changes I made to the settings.
I have just spent all day, literally, formatting and partitioning my 500gb SeaGate Free Agent. As of now, it is 32gb FAT32, and the rest is NTFS. My question is, can I use the Extend/Shrink Volume tools to decrease the maximum capacity of the NTFS format and therefore increase the maximum capacity of the FAT32 format, as I need more than 32gb. If not, how can I achieve this on Vista?
why the "accounts" sub-menu is missing from the tools menu in the Windows Mail application under Vista? It was there originally as I added a new account. But now strangely no email in or out and no way to get into the mail account to check the settings etc.
