D Drive Show 0% Memory Available
Jun 25, 2008My D Drive shows that 0% memory available. Calling a recovery D Drive? 173 mb of 9.99 GB available. Tried disk clean up, defrag. no help. What now?

Property Does Show 4 Gb Memory
Nov 25, 2008i have a HP pavilion dv6314 laptop. it has vista ultimate x 64 bit version, sp1 on it. i have upgraded it's RAM to 4gb but i could only see 3069 mb being used in the task manager. but in the laptop's property it does show 4 gb memory. my question is what happed to that exta 1 gb memory, is it lost???? or there is something wrong???? I have updated the BIOS to the latest version from the HP website.

WD Hard Drive In A USB 2.0 : Does Not Show Up
Mar 23, 2008I am installing a legacy WD hard drive in a USB 2.0 enclosure and am unclear about how to set the jumpers. Would being on a USB connection call for the single setting, or master/slave? It is an EIDE drive. The prob I am having is that the USB driver installed ok, the drive shows up in Disk management as a healthy FAT32, with drive letter "F" assigned, but does not show up in Device Manager,Explorer or Computer. Would Vista install controllers automatically, or do I need to find
drivers for it?

Mar 10, 2009My second hard drive wont show up in "my computer" and im not sure why, i need to format it i think but i dont know how to because i cant see it in my computer. The hard disk is working propperly as i see in device manage, only it wont show up in my computer.

Aug 10, 2009I've got an eSATA drive that I formatted NTFS on my XP installation. machine has removable drives & I run many OS's on the same machine. works fine on all (including Linux) *except* when I run Vista all updates including SP2. when I try to access drive it always comes up as unformatted. but if I schedule chdksk to run on it upon reboot...no problems found!

So what I want to know is how to save my Family Tree Makers files to it. And once I do that how do I know for sure it is opening from my new drive and not my computer C: drive? I thought that to be odd as I haven't really installed anything. So I uninstalled programs or software that I didn't need or used. Today no matter what I uninstall, and that has been quite a bit, the error keeps popping up saying that I have no memory left. Then it showed me I had 18 MB left and I went back to work. When I plug it into my laptop, I can not figure out how to change the view of it so I can just put one "picture" on the folder. I need to know what is in each folder by looking at one picture on the icon and for the life of me, I can not get it to work. I right click, go to customize and choose file. I pick what I want on there and then click apply and it does not work. I am at a loss. Does anyone have any ideas for me. I can get it to work on something that is internal but not the external.

Feb 21, 2009Is my first post and i have a problem with avi file icon. I am from Cyprus and my english its not very good. Some of my avi files show a picture and some others show a black icon. I did not have this problem before. Before all my avi files show a picture. I have K-Lite Mega Codec Pack (new version). I try Vista Codec but i can solve it. When I upgraded to windows 7, I chosed 64 bit, but the available memory shown in the system is still 3.3 GB. Why is this and is there a way to make the full 4GB available? It's possible that my video card is using RAM instead of its own RAM. If I install a video card with its own RAM, will the full 4GB be available?

Aug 23, 2008I am fairly new to the forums, and VERY new to Vista x64. The machine is new, and I was trying out some apps and games, I was in Secondlife when I got an error messege saying I was out of memory and needed to free up memory. I shut down the app and restarted it. Runs but I watched Task manager and saw my free memory down to almost nothing after an hour or so. The cached seems very high.
I did alittle research and decided to set a second page file on my 1TB hard drive, (OS is on the other HHD's )( regulated by system for size ) I'm not really sure whats going on. Example of just task manager and this page openis attached. Again, any help would be great in getting the memory set up on here optimal.
DDR3 Memory Memory Maxing Out
Oct 17, 2009I have 6gigs of DDR3 memory at 1600hz. Running on Vista 64bit and every now and again my memory performance just maxes out. The problem can occur around the time when I am installing something but I dont think its always this way. I have read forums where it could be the hardrives performing self diagnostics. I have all the latest patches for vista.

Windows is reporting 8 GB of Installed Physical Memory but is reporting only 4 GB of Total Physical Memory. I first noticed this when, after installing a game, the game system specs said 3092 MB of RAM.
I have checked the BIOS and it recognizes 8 GB. Memory Remapping is Enabled. Under Memory Remapping is "PCI MMIO Allocation: 4GB to 3328 MB" (?). MSConfig Boot Options shows Max Memory is not checked and no value in the box below. I tried enabling it and using 8192 as the value, but it made no difference. DxDiag shows 8 GB installed RAM. how I can get windows to make available all 8 GB of RAM? May 2, 2008I am Using Vista Ultimate 64. I would like to tranfer my entire drive incuding all files and the Operating system From my current IDE HDD to a new SATA Drive of the sames size (500 Gig) I need the IDE Drive for an older computer ( The 40 Gig IBM Deathstar still functions great, but all programs seem more bloated these Days)
Anyway I went to Administrative Tools and Formated the New Drive NFTS with no Drive Letter. But I cannot get it recognized as a transfer device when I go to system backup. Can I use 'C' on the second and soon to be only drive? If I have to use E or F for now can I change it back later. would that affect the file system? I intend to Low level Format the IDE and try cloning the old machine's XP Drive (32 bit) to it in the second place.

Jul 29, 2009i just bought My Book Essential 1 TB today... and when i got home i plug it and it works just fine but its bothering me that the HDD type is FAT32 .. so i format it and try to change it to NTFS.. but somethings happen and boom the electric in my apartment was down... and so when the electric back i want to format it again but i can't... there drive is detected but with no space detail... it says "Windows can't format Drive H: - Check to see that the disk and drive are connected properly, make sure that the disk is not read-only, and then try again.
For more information, search Help for read-only files and how to change them" when i open the Disk Management from (My COmputer > Manage) it seems it's already a volume.. but the weird thing there is no space detail.. and i cant erase the volume ... i've tried using diskpart but i can't do nothing because there is no volume and i can't erase the disk... no luck with fsutil cause its not ntfs... I havent tried 3rd party software and i havent tried it on other computer (don't have other computer right now) and WDC didnt give live cd for formatting because all of them was in the drive... though i already redownload it but the program is useless..

I have a ethernet hard drive and I've never had a problem until using vista and windows server 2008. both operating systems are unable to browse the drive, instead it completely crashes explorer.exe. Windows server 2003 & XP have never had trouble.
