CURRENT behaviour. Right click on START, left click on EXPLORE, opens in a window with Start Menu folder selected. DESIRED behaviour. Right click on START, left click on EXPLORE, would like a full screen window with my user folder selected. My username is Admin. I suspect a modification to the registry may be required to accomplish my desired behaviour.
View 3 RepliesIs it just me or had vista consigned the art of the simple mouse-click to history. Why when i click on a folder does it always try to rename it ? If i wish to rename it i would right click like every othe microsoft OS ever created. Why when i click on a short cut from my desk top does nothing happen (no feedback that i have clicked) so i click again and get two (or more) application loading. Is there some where to change click behaviour without setting up umpteen user profiles with 136 sql server schemas? Most exaspereted - moving to linux - just need to convince my boss

If I open windows explorer and right click on a file, explorer shuts down and restarts. Have there lost all context item availability.

View 5 Replies View RelatedWant to do a complete PC backup for my newly purchased notebook, however, i started to do the backup to dvd, it seems it never ended, and kept prompt me to insert a blank disk. I have two partitions in one single hard drive, drive c is the system partition, drive d is the backup image of my notebook for recovery, Control panel -> system and maintenance -> Back and restore center -> Back up computer -> DVDRW Drive, it said it will take 4 to 7 dvds, however, it still continued to prompt me to insert a blank disk after the 9th dvd, then i stop manually, Is it normal? How can chase the backup log? Should I skip the recovery disk from the backup?

When i changed the location of my pictures and music to an other location, all of them where working 100%. But then i had to change the letter of the drive they were on. Now when i click on them they don't do anything and if i right-click on it and go to properties it kind of freezes. A properties window appears but it's almost all white.

Suddenly I cannot contact it, I get an error message by 'Bad Behaviour' telling me I have a virus or something. I have Norton and I dont think I have any viruses. I suspect that 'Bad Behaviour' is reliable, and is finding something suspicious on my registry. The Bad Behaviour page has an automatic removal option for the problematic entries.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a microsoft wireless keyboard and mouse which work really well but when I reboot, the keyboard shortcuts that I have programmed don't work until I go into properties and click on them and then click ok. The keys then work ok until I reboot again.Is there any way that I can programme the changes so they are the default programmes whenever I reboot. The software loaded fine and I clicked on apply and save when I originally set the keys.....I have a HP Pavilion DV6700 Laptop with windows visa home premium which is about one month old.

After spending a lot of time trying to find a solution, here is the way I have solve the problem. Now the sidebar is just working fine. This behavior is observed if the XML registration is missing in the system. To fix the problem, use the following steps:
* Close Windows Sidebar. To do so, right-click on the Sidebar icon in the Notification area and click Exit
* Open an elevated Command Prompt window. To do so, click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator.
* In the Command Prompt window, type the following and press ENTER:
Simply put- RED Blue Screens. I don't know what I need to call them. THEY ARE RED! And they just reference "An error reading the instruction set" There is no STOP Error. I upgraded the Processor from AMD Athlon x2 5000+ to an AMD Phenom x4 9650. I have not overclocked it. In fact, first thing I did after installing it was reset CMOS.
I've checked for minidumps relating to this issue but there are none. I am running Windows 7 x64 Home Premium.
I have C & D drives, I use D for mundane filesdownloads and portable apps. However, I have a few folders that's are different from any I've seen. I don't know how to explain it other than using a detailed example.
I have D:Folder1
I can rename Folder1 to whatever I want.
E.g it will appear as D:NewFolder
However the dir location of it still points to D:Folder1
I have also scanned the registry for D:Folder1 and D:NewFolder there are no references of it. I've reformatted the C: drive multiple times and reinstalled windows. So I know it's nothing to this specific windows installation (the folders have been like this for about a year) It's not really a problem, I love it because I can rename the folder without messing up links etc. At first I thought it might be a junction, however in cmd it still shows as <Dir> not <Junction> I also checked for hidden folders on the drive. I found nothing.
The wireless switch is booted up in the on position. I go to windows network diagnostic and it says that I need to Start Windows Wireless Service, but this won't start and I'm simply told "Windows cannot resolve your problem". when i start my computer i get nothing no icons start menu or anything but i do get a my documents window and from there i have to ctrl alt delete then go to file run and run explorer does anyone know how to make it to where i dont have to do all that stuff to run explorer basically does anyone know how to make it where when i start my computer it is normal with explorer running?

As the title suggests its about the mouse, I have always had my mouse setup so that I left double-click to get to anything, but although mice have a very long lifespan, and this is mainly why I am posting this (before I get my G9 mouse) I wondered what you all would recommend to prolong the mouse life even more, do any of you use just one click or are you all double-clickers like myself? what would you recommend single or double?
I just don't want to knacker the mouse out too quickly, bearing in mind that it gets used alot in games too and as its recommended for Crysis etc......I am going to be hammering that left mouse button to death
I know I can use my Xbox 360 controller for windows and have been, but as this piece of kit is suggested for Crysis and other games I am going to be using it instead.
is there any way to run the programm as admin immediately or i have to right click on the icon?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have been searching for a soultion and have not come upon one yet. Using Vista Business with a Dell Optiplex Each time I right click my mouse (on anything) all I get is Not Responding and I have to close the program. This problem is not happening in Safe Mode?
I have tried the following solutions i.e.:
- Trying to run sfc /scannow (which will not run)
- Changing Performance settings - did not fix
- Doing a Restore Point (Safe Mode) - one time it worked and then went back to same problem
- Downloading and running Shexview.exe and closing all non-Microsoft Context Menu - no luck here!
- Installed SP2 - still have problem?
When you right click on a program you get the box that opens giving you all kinds of options; run as administrator, scan with, etc. What do you call that box? I am running Vista, but a friend is running XP. She used to have listed in that box the option to scan with her anti virus program, but she no longer does. Is there a way, in XP, to add this to that box?

Sometimes does this, and sometimes not, but always when i right click an item.
I looks as though Vista goes into hibernate even though I click on sleep. Up until now, Vista always went to sleep. What should I be checking?

I have just installed Winzip 10 and there is no right click menu in explorer except for the usual Open/Send to etc, there is not "extract to here" Add to archive etc.
These are all selected in options/context menu commands.
Is there something in Vista 64 that is stopping it.
using vista 64 bit, I installed counter strike 1.6 on it it works but when creating a game and after loading the map it freezes and when clicking " ok " to enter and select the player, it can't be clicked and i cant go back by clicking " Esc" button and i must close the game by " ctrl , alt ,del"

While I work on the computer, nothing out of the ordinary happens... (No problems)... when I walk away for awhile and come back, I click on a shortcut and the computer Freezes... I have to shut down the system to get out of it... Simply put; Vista Randomly Freezes... I've checked the logs to no Avail... I'm getting real irritated by this and I was hoping that someone might have a clue to what is happening.
