I am not able to download Sony DCR HC30 tape video into Sony VAIO laptop as the windows vista does not recognixe the camcorder through firewire or USB. I tried through movie maker, picture motion browser, adobe premier etc.

I am able to connect my camcorder to my laptop using USB, but the software doesn't recognize my camera. It says I need to use Firewire or 1394 port. When I hook my camera up with HDMI, the camera and computer do not recognize each other. I know the HDMI works, because I've used it for my TV. I am not sure what the Firewire port is, or if my laptop has on?I much rather use my HDMI port. Is there a way I can get my computer to

my friend has lent me a dvd with a recording of a sports game on it but when i try and play it i wont open at all, nor can i convert it using dvd to video file thing. I tried to download the camcorders driver from the sony support site but need to have the actual camcorder to install it.

I connected the Canon Vixia HF10 camcorder with USB to PC, turn on the camcorder in Play back mode, but Windows Vista remained silent - no detection of my camcorder. Sometime my Windows Vista just hung and FROZEN...I remove USB cable from Camcorder, Windows Vista is back to work normal. the Canon website and there it is -> the camcorder *IS* compatible with vista and doesn't need any driver. I called Canon technical Tech and he told me Yes, Canon Vixia HF10 is comptaible with Vista. I have also installed Windows XP SP3 on my laptop and tried on Windows XP, no problem there - the camcorder was detected immediately.

No issues with XP2 32bit... recognized and captured fine. Searching the net reveals firewire connectivity on Vista (in general) is problematic, if non-existent. Should have done my homework before building the box. 64 bit allows for access to more RAM and than means faster render times. Not being able to capture via firewire is a definite "show stopper". I had been happy with 64 bit up to this point (all bells and whistles turned off of course). Another "EPIC FAIL" for Microsoft.

I had internet for a whole day when all of a sudden my connection was gone. At first I thought it could of been that the usb stick is broken, so I went out and got a new one. Plugged that one in and the same thing happens.
Every time I plug it into my pc I hear the sound that Vista makes when a device is not recognized. I installed all the drivers and everything was working fine 2 days ago. I'm now using my old usb connector and it's working great. I tried all the usb connectors but all of them make the sound when a device is not recognized.
I placed a DVD in the tray to do a backup. The spindle spins for 5 seconds and stops. The system does not recognize that a DVD is in the tray. CD's are OK. I probably inadvertently changed something in the past weeks while trouble shooting another problem.

However, there were several issues with performance and finally late last year I gave up and went back to XP. Now that the SP1 is available, I want to go back and install Vista, but for some reason, my computer won't recognize the disc. It trys, but just can't load it. I've tried other DVDs and have burned a couple and they all work fine. For whatever reason, the problem is with the Vista DVD.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have an Ultra ATA 100 drive that will not install in BIOS or Vista 32 ultimate OS. I have support on my motherboard for 66/100/133 pata (as well as sata II). I have all dated drivers for the motherboard. I'm using VIA's Hyperion Pro drivers. I think my problem is setting jumpers in the drive. I've tried the drive on both primary master and slave, and secondary primary and slave buses. I've also tried the drive in combinations of 2 HDD and 1 HDD, 1 dvd rom. I've set the jumper to cable select, master, and no jumper with no results. However, the drive works in an AMD box running XP 32. The HDD it is not working in is Vista 32 sp1 ultimate. As it is now i have the HDD on the same secondary bus as my dvd rom. The HDD is set to master, and not showing up anywhere. The drive is a Maxtor 40gb.

He just bought a new Canon MP480 inkjet printer and everytime he plugs it into his laptop he gets the "USB Device Not Recognized". I tested his printer and cable on my laptop (Vista Ultimate 64bit) and it IDs the printer and tries to install just fine. We're both running SP1 and I just did a double check and I we're both fully up-to-date on Windows update.I've tried uninstalling the USB hardware and then doing new install of the Intel chipset drivers.I've tried "forcing" the driver install using "driver update", but Vista just comes back and says "Driver for "unknown device" currently has the best driver confused I've tried draining the laptops power and I've tried a "driver inf cache" delete thing as well.
The disc can be read by a similar model machine. Mine can both read and boot from an XP install disc, but the Vista DVD isn't seen at all (not within XP nor on bootup). There are no firmware updates for the motherboard or drive which are more recent than what's already installed.

However, Vista has suddenly started to report this has 'USB Device Not Recognized'. The hub works with XP and other USB devices work fine when plugged into the same port. I have tried deleting the infcache.1 file as suggested in other threads but no joy.

When I put a disc in my drive, autoplay does not start or anything. I have checked the autoplay settings and they all seem to be correct. I can put a music CD in and go to Media Player and play the CD. but when I go to my computer and open the drive it doesn't show any files. this is not just for music cd's, it is dvd's, programs and everything. My drive is the Optiard AD-7653 (that is how it is listed in the device manager)

However, when I plug my phone via USB, my laptop charges my phone, but doesn't read it. I also see both drives if I enter the BIOS settings. Windows Explorer does shows only the original drive. Also did a registry clean and repair. Tried renaming INFCACHE.1 to INFCACHE.1.bak. Tried the hotfix mentioned in a similar post. Ran a registry scan and repair.
Devices include memory stick, webcam, printer, wireless KB and mouse. USB ports have power, and Vista sees new hardware when its is plugged in, but always sees it as unknown device and cannot find or install drivers. All devices worked fine 2 days ago..........
I'm trying to install Age of Conan. When I place DVD in the drive it makes a repetitive sound and does not appear to spin up. DVD is not recognized by system: no pop up window, explorer indicates there is no DVD in rom. I place AoC in a second machine (running XP Pro) and install screen appears. I have installed OS & Office with the rom and placed a CIV IV DVD in drive and that installation started.(i.e. I believe the rom works)
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a SanDisk 16gb cruzer that is easily recognized in my XP Pro machines and was for a brief while on my 2 Vista Ultimate machines. A few weeks ago, my 2 Vista Machines stop recognizing it. If I go to device manager, I can see it listed as a disk drive. To get it to work I scroll down to USB Mass Storage Device and disable/enable it and it pops up and all is good. If I look in Computer Mgmt /Disk Mgmt, it shows up as unallocated so it does not get assigned a driver letter. If I boot the PC with the usb drive inserted it works fine.
I called Sandisk technial support and they said it was "Vista problem" because the drive works in XP and in a friend's computer also running Vista. Can one delete all USB devices in Vista without doing a complete reload of Vista. Maybe setting all USB paramters back to that after a clean install would help?
Does anyone know why the icons from the .COM and .EXE files for so many pre-Vista apps and games are not recognized by Vista? I have literally dozens of old games and apps that for some reason still work with Vista (Unlike most things that won't run at all), but when I try to change the icon, Vista says no icons were found in the file. I know for a fact the icons are in there, but Vista refuses to recognize them.
