Recognized In The Bios 4GB Memory X64?
Dec 15, 2007I installed 4 GB ram in my laptop, it's recognized in the bios but x64 see only 3062MB (as the 32 bit version), what can I do to use the full 4GB?

Feb 25, 2009Sometimes when I install drivers I get the message that my BIOS is out of date (including updates from AMD) if I go to the Phoenix site it says go to the motherboard manufacturer or run Biosagent if you use this you pay for the update but you do get this info so is it worth e-mail gateway support, using the boisagent or just leave well alone.

Jun 1, 2008My brother has just built a computer and can't get it working. The problem is that when he starts it he gets to the screen where he can choose to enter BIOS. 9/10 times he can't do anything from there but 1/10 times he can press delete and then it says "loading bios" but it freezes there (he waited 30 mins nothing happened). Does anyone know what the problem mihht be?

Sep 19, 2008I've been messing around in my BIOS. Installing some faster RAM and trying a slight overclock (2.4 t0 2.7Ghz on a Q6600) and seem to have caused myself several problems. Firstly I tried to push it a bit further on the FSB- from 1200 to 1300-the system wouldn't boot and wouldn't let me into the BIOS. I eventually got round this by removing the mobo battery. I was able to get back into the BIOS and revert to my original oc. However when I booted I got a re register Windows this is not a genuine version notice. I had to 'phone microsoft and get a new activation ID. I'm now back in windows (Vista HP 64 bit) but seem to have a few left over issues. My clock was set back to 2006 and that meant I couldn't activate Gmail etc. I went back into the BIOS and reset the date but could not change the day. So it's 3.19PM on Monday the 22nd of September, 2008. I've tried everything I can think of but cannot find a way to make it Friday, which it is.
Also I have Kaspersky Internet Security 2009. This keeps reporting that my computer is at risk and I need to update. I've updated over a dozen times but it doesn't seem to change and is still telling me it needs to update. These are ther first problems I have noticed. I hope I don't find more. Does anyone have any advice as to how to get my day and date correct and how to convince Kaspersky it's up to date?

Total Memory Available 3.3GB With 4GB Physical Memory Under Windows 7 64 Bit
Nov 29, 2009I had 4GB physical memoryon the PC. With Windows vista 32 bit, available memory is shown as 3.3GB. I asked and was told that only under 64 bit windows, will the available memory be 4GB. When I upgraded to windows 7, I chosed 64 bit, but the available memory shown in the system is still 3.3 GB. Why is this and is there a way to make the full 4GB available? It's possible that my video card is using RAM instead of its own RAM. If I install a video card with its own RAM, will the full 4GB be available?

I have noticed an svchost.eve process runs each time I reboot which seems to bloat constantly although when I close it down it only frees up about 800MB, what's happening to the rest of my 8GB??? When I launch Task Manager it says I'm only using 10% Memory but free RAM sits at 0?!?!

Aug 23, 2008I am fairly new to the forums, and VERY new to Vista x64. The machine is new, and I was trying out some apps and games, I was in Secondlife when I got an error messege saying I was out of memory and needed to free up memory. I shut down the app and restarted it. Runs but I watched Task manager and saw my free memory down to almost nothing after an hour or so. The cached seems very high.
I did alittle research and decided to set a second page file on my 1TB hard drive, (OS is on the other HHD's )( regulated by system for size ) I'm not really sure whats going on. Example of just task manager and this page openis attached. Again, any help would be great in getting the memory set up on here optimal.
DDR3 Memory Memory Maxing Out
Oct 17, 2009I have 6gigs of DDR3 memory at 1600hz. Running on Vista 64bit and every now and again my memory performance just maxes out. The problem can occur around the time when I am installing something but I dont think its always this way. I have read forums where it could be the hardrives performing self diagnostics. I have all the latest patches for vista.

USB Not Recognized
May 12, 2009I had internet for a whole day when all of a sudden my connection was gone. At first I thought it could of been that the usb stick is broken, so I went out and got a new one. Plugged that one in and the same thing happens.
Every time I plug it into my pc I hear the sound that Vista makes when a device is not recognized. I installed all the drivers and everything was working fine 2 days ago. I'm now using my old usb connector and it's working great. I tried all the usb connectors but all of them make the sound when a device is not recognized.

Aug 9, 2009I placed a DVD in the tray to do a backup. The spindle spins for 5 seconds and stops. The system does not recognize that a DVD is in the tray. CD's are OK. I probably inadvertently changed something in the past weeks while trouble shooting another problem.

Now that the SP1 is available, I want to go back and install Vista, but for some reason, my computer won't recognize the disc. It trys, but just can't load it. I've tried other DVDs and have burned a couple and they all work fine. For whatever reason, the problem is with the Vista DVD.

Mar 13, 2009I have an Ultra ATA 100 drive that will not install in BIOS or Vista 32 ultimate OS. I have support on my motherboard for 66/100/133 pata (as well as sata II). I have all dated drivers for the motherboard. I'm using VIA's Hyperion Pro drivers. I think my problem is setting jumpers in the drive. I've tried the drive on both primary master and slave, and secondary primary and slave buses. I've also tried the drive in combinations of 2 HDD and 1 HDD, 1 dvd rom. I've set the jumper to cable select, master, and no jumper with no results. However, the drive works in an AMD box running XP 32. The HDD it is not working in is Vista 32 sp1 ultimate. As it is now i have the HDD on the same secondary bus as my dvd rom. The HDD is set to master, and not showing up anywhere. The drive is a Maxtor 40gb.

Feb 28, 2009I'm troubleshooting a friends computer and can'tseem to get it working.Basically, he's running Vista Home Prem 32bit. He just bought a new Canon MP480 inkjet printer and everytime he plugs it into his laptop he gets the "USB Device Not Recognized". I tested his printer and cable on my laptop (Vista Ultimate 64bit) and it IDs the printer and tries to install just fine. We're both running SP1 and I just did a double check and I we're both fully up-to-date on Windows update.I've tried uninstalling the USB hardware and then doing new install of the Intel chipset drivers.I've tried "forcing" the driver install using "driver update", but Vista just comes back and says "Driver for "unknown device" currently has the best driver confused I've tried draining the laptops power and I've tried a "driver inf cache" delete thing as well.
Install DVD Not Recognized
May 5, 2008The disc can be read by a similar model machine. Mine can both read and boot from an XP install disc, but the Vista DVD isn't seen at all (not within XP nor on bootup). There are no firmware updates for the motherboard or drive which are more recent than what's already installed.

However, Vista has suddenly started to report this has 'USB Device Not Recognized'. The hub works with XP and other USB devices work fine when plugged into the same port. Mar 23, 2008I have searched the forums through and through, i have removed filters from the registry, rebooted, deleted the driver from device manager and let the system reinstall. When I put a disc in my drive, autoplay does not start or anything. I have checked the autoplay settings and they all seem to be correct. I can put a music CD in and go to Media Player and play the CD. but when I go to my computer and open the drive it doesn't show any files. this is not just for music cd's, it is dvd's, programs and everything. My drive is the Optiard AD-7653 (that is how it is listed in the device manager)

Dec 14, 2009I have a Laptop operating on Vista, I prefer to use a USB mouse rather than using the touchpad as I find it quicker to use. Everything was working perfectly, then I kept hearing the noise, the noise when you insert and take out a mouse du du noise, it happened a few times then all of a sudden there was the USB Devise Not Recognised on my computer. Vista 64 Installed Physical Memory Vs Total Physical Memory
Mar 26, 2009I'm running Vista 64 Home (SP1) Premium on a homebuilt machine w/8GB (4 X 2GB modules). Windows is reporting 8 GB of Installed Physical Memory but is reporting only 4 GB of Total Physical Memory. I first noticed this when, after installing a game, the game system specs said 3092 MB of RAM.
I have checked the BIOS and it recognizes 8 GB. Memory Remapping is Enabled. Under Memory Remapping is "PCI MMIO Allocation: 4GB to 3328 MB" (?). MSConfig Boot Options shows Max Memory is not checked and no value in the box below. I tried enabling it and using 8192 as the value, but it made no difference. DxDiag shows 8 GB installed RAM. how I can get windows to make available all 8 GB of RAM? (Motherboard is ASUS Maximus II Extreme w/Intel Q9550 processor running at Q9650 clock speed, memory running at 1127 MHz
