Burning CD: "insert Blank Disc"?
Apr 29, 2008I insert a CD to burn, and even though its blank, I get a message saying "insert blank disc" and it ejects my disc. This has happened with many CD's that Itry.

May 3, 2010i installed windows xp first on my 1tb hard drive on a partition that worked fine, then i installed vista 64bit on a second partition and that was fine i got the option to dual boot and everything was fine. Now i decided to get rid of the xp partition because i wasnt using it so i copied all the files i wanted from it and put it in my vista partition then i used geparted (3rd party partition tool) to format my xp partition.
I then restarted my pc and get a error please insert system disc, now i think the problem is because the xp was first to install that has all the boot records on it so when i formatte dthe partition i deleted the boot files etc etc. I used my vista recovery disc and used the command prompt to try and re write the mbr using bootrec.exe/fixmbr and /fixboot and a few pther option but nothing worked. I had a similar problem a while ago i wrote a simialr command using the recover console to re write the whole mbr but cant remember what it was.Now i have reinstalled vista on the xp partition and can get access to my other vista partition but really want to make the other partition bootable again..........
Burning A CD Or DVD Disc Appear TEMP Icons
Dec 14, 2008My dad has a problem burning JPEG's to a disc. He say that when he burn them they appear to look like TEMP icons. They are lighter looking. Now this is when he opens the folder to view all the pics not when he clicks one and opens it completely up. He swares this never used to look like this. He burns them like this he selects the photos by highlighting one and then going (Select All). Then he clicks the burn button on the tool bar. He tells me a box pops up that says MASTER or something (???) but he says he selects the MASTER button.

Windows Explorer : Prompt To Prepare Blank Disc
Oct 29, 2008I have burned many DVD (data) on my XP before I switch a computer. Now that I have a Vista x64, the CD drive won't read them. If I use ISOBuster I can see the track and extract them. But if I use Windows Explorer it will prompt me to "prepare blank disc"! Any help? I already finalize the disc and confimred it. Do a hardware diagnostic check and turns out nothing went wrong. By the way, how can I make Vista not look for application if I insert other CD.

Nov 3, 2009Basically my gf's pc started to mess up alot, she was using it at uni with no internet connection but as soon as she finished uni and brought it back and started using the internet it started playng up, so she got it formated, but alas, no vista disc, she still has the product code on a sticker on the PC itself. She has already paid for vista so is there a way of getting the vista disc (for her pc) for free?? if so/if not where can i get one and will this work ok??

I insert a blank cd and it auto loads, then it asks to format before continueing, i click yes, it formats then right at the end it says unable to finish formatting and opens the cd. May 11, 2008I've got a game issue with the new Iron Man game released last week by Sega. It's affecting a lot of the PC gamers, but no one has found a solution yet. Hopefully, someone in here has some ideas or a solution. Iron Man installed fine, but when we go to launch it, we get the same error box popping up, saying:
"Cannot locate the DVD-ROM"
"Please insert the correct DVD-ROM, select OK and restart application"
Then there's the OK button at the bottom
There's only 1 DVD for this game and it has to be in the drive for the game to run. The game just refuses to run. I finally sat down this weekend and all day today, trying different things, like cycling between the different compatibility modes, updating DVD firmware, tweaking the game's INI files, and Googling every damn thing I can think of to see if there any other solutions or anyone who's solved this. Nothing works.

Mar 19, 2008I'm trying to burn a DVD img file with serveral peices of software and nothing is working. I know the image is good, I viewed it with Alcohol in virtual drive. I have tried Nero, IMG Burn, DVDFab, and a few others. It completes successfully but when I view the disc only the menu works the movie is broken up with mpeg blocking and will not play sufficiently. I also tried it in my x32 machine as well and it did the same thing... What am I doing wrong?

I need to burn a DATA DVD.. for some reason this is proving a challenge.. you can't do it w/WMC, as it doesn't afford possibility of browsing to folders you want to burn. my roxio 10 isn't letting me do it either (when I go to "Data and Backup" I get to a window where under "Data Disc" it says, "Easily create and bun a data CD or DVD or save a disc image to your hard drive"... so I click on this "Data Disc" link, choose folder, click on yellow button at bottom right ("click this button to continue") but it just hangs. nothing happens.. (and yes I do have a blank DVD loaded in the drive...)
just downloaded a trial version of nero.. same thing, you can do all sorts of fancy stuff, like burn music DVD's, movies, video, do fancy menus, slideshows, etc.. but I want none of that, I just want to burn a bunch of JPG's to a DVD (A LOT of them actually, only reason need to burn them on a DVD instead of a regular data CD is that it's so many images that I would have to burn about four CD's to burn all the images I want to burn..) I just want a DATA DVD that when user inserts it in the machine they can browse the files. but this is proving a bit difficult, which is a bit strange, I mean this is a very simple thing. how can I do this..
Nero VCD Burning, Not Getting
Mar 23, 2008I have created a movie using Windows Movie Maker. I am trying to burn this movie using Nero 6, so I can play the movie on a DVD player. I have tried various attempts and not getting anywhere. Need quick steps what I need to do to get the file to play on a DVD disk? In Nero, I am selecting Make Video CD option. I then Add the WMV File, which it analyzes and I select the DVD/RW...option (not Image Recorder). It then begins encoding but it then spits the DVD/RW disk out saying the compilation cannot be written to this type of disk.

Oct 14, 2009When I try to do this it says it is going to take around 7 hours and nothing else happens..I know it shouldn't be doing this and that I am doing everything correctly as it used to work fine. However I recently had to reinstall vista on my laptop and don't know if this has caused a change which will prevent photos burning now! I am using CD-R discs and my drive is compatible with DVD discs and CD-R and CD-RW so I'm not going wrong here! All the discs I am using are new and therefore blank. Jul 30, 2008I'm running Vista home premium 64 bit with the latest SP. I just installed an old game (Sniper Elite) and after installation it asked for a reboot. I did this and got the message that windows couldn't start, this could be down to a change recently made etc etc. It then said to fix it
1- insert windows disk and reboot
2- select language and click next
3- Choose repair my computer
I did this but when I clicked repair my computer it didn't show any OS in the box to repair! It just says "If you did not see your OS in the list, click load drivers to load drivers for your hard disk"
Insert Text On Folder Icon?
Nov 7, 2007I want to keep track of the number of pics I have in a folder .. is there a way to insert text onto a folder icon, so that you can keep track of this? what i mean by this is actually inserting a number onto the folder icon itself, like "10". this way we would see the folder icon (along with the picture previews of whats inside the folder), as well as this number.
