I want to keep track of the number of pics I have in a folder .. is there a way to insert text onto a folder icon, so that you can keep track of this? what i mean by this is actually inserting a number onto the folder icon itself, like "10". this way we would see the folder icon (along with the picture previews of whats inside the folder), as well as this number.
In Hotmail, when I try to go back to an previous spot in the message and insert additional words, every letter I add deletes a letter from the text that follows. What causes this and how can I reset the app to allow me to insert text without deleting a chararter for every character I insert?
A friend is having a problem with the text (Name) of his desktop icons. Text should be white on the blue background but the text appears to have some blue color in it which makes it appear blurred. When he has black text on a white background it appears to have some white in it. It looks like the background color is bleeding into the text color.
PC: HP Windows Media Center PC m8200n; Monitor HP w1907. November 2007. OS: Windows Vista Home Premium. HP: Deskjet F4180. So I noticed that the printer icon for my printer became all white, IE a corrupted icon. So I went online and found information on how to refresh your icon folder. That didn't do anything. So I thought I'd uninstall and reinstall.
I have tried to reinstall my HP software from disc, and I get a 'new PSSWCORE.msi' file. I see the file on the install disc, yet it won't install. 'Network resource is unavailable.'
Now I cannot uninstall it. On my Add/Remove I see:
HP Customer Participation Program 9.0
HP All In One Software 9.0
HP Imaging device Functions 9.0
HP On-Screen Cap/Num/Scroll Lock Indicator
HP Photosmart Essential
HP Update
How can I get these off my PC, and reinstall cleanly so I can use my rinter/scanner again?
In Explorer I noticed that a folder C:UsersmynameAppDataLocalMicrosoftWindows Live Mail. the name text is a different color than the rest of the folders. The other folder the fore color is black and for this folder it's blue.
I've been away from the computer for the past three weeks, and when I got home I discovered everything in perfect working order. Everything, that is, except for my User Folder. None of the subfolders (Music, Videos, Pictures, etc.) have text beneath the icons. This only happens if I have the folder in icon view, no matter the size. List, Details, and Tiles all show the appropriate information, but the names of the folders disappear as soon as I slide the view to Small Icons.
This is true for anything else in the User Folder. For example, I tried moving a file there from the desktop, only to have that file's name disappear. Removing it back to the desktop confirmed that the file still had its original title. Creating a new file in the folder yields the same result. The subfolders themselves still have their names, and I can see them if click "Rename" on any of the folders.
When i view my user folder (whihc has documents, music, pictures, ect), my pictures folder is the old Biege folder icon, while all the others are the clear-glass blue folders. I know its really not that big of a deal but its annoying me. How can i get that folder icon back?
I've had Vista for a while now and out of the blue weird things start happening. Whenever I browse through folders on my hd via an application like Photoshop or Internet Explorer, that application will lock up when I get into Documents. Whenever I make a 'New Folder' the folder icon does not show up and its this weird white thing. Almost all folders in Windows Explorer look like this and it's extremely annoying.
My folder icon is destroyed and turned into a generic one, when ever i make a new folder its still shows the generic icon. all my other icons of other programs have been replaced to generic ones.
I am mising the icon "Make New Folder" in Vista's Explorer. I know there are other possibilities creating a new folder (e.g. Organize, Make New Folder button). how to add the icon "make new folder" to the Explorer.
In Appendix B: Working with the Command Prompt of Microsoft Press' Windows Vista Inside Out, one option to start the Command Prompt is "Double-click the Cmd icon in your %SystemRoot%System 32 folder." How do I find this folder?
I would like to set some key folders to have icons that identify what is inside. So my Windows install folder would show a folder with the Windows logo in front. (I have the ICO for that.) But how do you do that? I found a folder that has such a specific icon, but I wasn't successful getting it to work. My example used an icon inside an EXE. My icon is a stand-alone ICO.
It has some good icons the ones i was interested in was the Blue/Green folder icons similar to the ones installed on my Vista , I downloaded them extracted as advised everything OK but when i tried to us them IE Customise/Change icon/browse route they don't show up in the folder which is strange because i can open the folder normally and see them , they are in PNG format could this be the problem if anybody manages to use them or can shed some light on
For some reason the Documents folder has reverted to having a plain icon and has lost the special green documents icon. How can I restore its icon to its former glory? Other special folders are unaffected.
I have recently logged on to my computer to find that all of the shortcut Icons that overlap the program icons have changed, and also that all my folder icons have also changed as well as in the start menu. See attachments for images. To try and fix the Shortcut Icons i have installed FxVisor32 for 32-bit Vista. I tried to change all the icons back but recieved the following error message. which stopped me from changing it. Note i am running 32bit Vista home premium.Code:See the end of this message for details on invoking just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box. ************** Exception Text ************** System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception: The system cannot find the file specified at System.Diagnostics.Process.StartWithCreateProcess(ProcessStartInfo startInfo) at System.Diagnostics.Process.Start() at VistaArrowGone.Form1.btApply_Click(Object sender, EventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.OnClick(EventArgs e)............................

After a bad patch in Vista security update forced me to have to re-load Vista, I cannot insert pictures in emails. Insert file is the only thing highlighted and pictures can only go as attachments. How can I fix it to insert a picture?
I've got a game issue with the new Iron Man game released last week by Sega. It's affecting a lot of the PC gamers, but no one has found a solution yet. Hopefully, someone in here has some ideas or a solution. Iron Man installed fine, but when we go to launch it, we get the same error box popping up, saying:
"Cannot locate the DVD-ROM" "Please insert the correct DVD-ROM, select OK and restart application" Then there's the OK button at the bottom
There's only 1 DVD for this game and it has to be in the drive for the game to run. The game just refuses to run. I finally sat down this weekend and all day today, trying different things, like cycling between the different compatibility modes, updating DVD firmware, tweaking the game's INI files, and Googling every damn thing I can think of to see if there any other solutions or anyone who's solved this. Nothing works.
I recently purchased my business card in a jpg file so I can use it in an automated signature. I do Tools>Options>Signatures>File>Browse and insert the file with my e-card. When I go to create a new email, all that appears instead of my card is.

I installed new software and pinned the executable to the start menu. But, Vista displays a generic icon in the start menu for this program. All other programs pinned to the start menu display the correct icon. Any way to get Vista to dispaly the proper icon for this program??
I'm running Vista home premium 64 bit with the latest SP. I just installed an old game (Sniper Elite) and after installation it asked for a reboot. I did this and got the message that windows couldn't start, this could be down to a change recently made etc etc. It then said to fix it
1- insert windows disk and reboot 2- select language and click next 3- Choose repair my computer
I did this but when I clicked repair my computer it didn't show any OS in the box to repair! It just says "If you did not see your OS in the list, click load drivers to load drivers for your hard disk"
I was playing with gears of war and vigas2 and they used to work just fine but now and after instaling few updates it gives me the masseg "Please insert the correct CD-ROM"
I created a signature in windows mail and it is inserted in every mail and reply at the bottom of the mail. However, I always reply on top of a message so that the person who receives my reply doesn't need to scroll down to read the (latest) reply. Now, I have to move the signature from the bottom to the end of my reply, above the original message I received. Is there any way to insert the signature on top of a reply instead of at the bottom?
