I've bridged my wireless and ethernet connections to connect my xbox360 to the internet. This worked fine before on this laptop but now it don't! I've enabled compatibility mode via netsh but I still get "network cable unplugged" on MAC Bridge Miniport immediately after I create the bridge. The wireless network works just fine when I remove the bridge. I have the latest drivers and SP.

However my laptop says "local and internet connection" but only displays the 5 bars now if I go into network configuration. It says everything is connected, yet ALSO says the LAN cable is unplugged, which it isn't. I originally thought this might be a problem with the laptop itself but my dad brought his home from work and it doesn't work either... I've done pretty much everything you can think of doing to fix this problem but nothing is working
View 6 Replies View Relatedi run a toshiba satellite L300D and i had to restore the system before the restore all was ok .. but now i have the message "Network cable unplugged"..the little screen on the statup bar has a cross in it and no matter what i do it just gives me the same message .. it sees my bt home hub and says i am connected i have tried to connect by lan cable ,but that did no good the connectivity doctor says the wirless is disconnected.and says the possible cause is "ip address not set properly ( c-19 )".i have used the network diagnostics to repair the "ip address" but to no avail.i think i have tried everthing to fix this
View 7 Replies View Relatedi have windows vista ultimate x64 since i first got my computer, never formatted it afterwards and its the same install since first. I have a problem that started some time a go (i think it started in md autumn last year) after installing NIS 2010 (i suppose this is when it really started). And if you ask me, no, it's not original. Or it may have started after an update...this is the problem cuz i can't pinpoint accurately when it first appeared. So here's the problem: my windows loads normally i type in the password to my account, and then i get the "X" icon on the Networks (it appears like this, the X doesnt appear after "it loads") i have to wait like 30 seconds and i'm not kidding, when my computer normally fully loads vista in 12 seconds or so (with all the startup progrms). AND HERE COMES THE S@#T biscuit: almost anything windows-related operations don't work until that stupid icon turns to normal (without the X)... like User Account control (UAC appears after the icon turns to normal, eventually), On-screen keyboard i found out that it doesn't appear until that stupid X disappears (i had probs with my keyboard).
There's another curious thing: if i wait a few seconds at the log in screen and then decide to log in, everything loads normally (as if that stupid X has a fixed timer when it disappears). Internet works fine, no network problems... except one minor, windows-related problem: i can't click the damn icon or right click it doesn't do jack !@@# as if the icon is frozen... if i hover my mouse over it nothing appears (the list of connected networks would normally appear if you hover the mouse pointer). I have Hamachi and Tunngle installed (they are both progrms which create virtual networks,i removed tunngle a few weeks ago though), but i had them before this problem first appeared and worked fine. Another thing i need to mention is i started to get some retarded "device is not working" like 4 of them under network adapters something called Windows 6to4 Adapter #4, #5 #6, but i solved it (unninstalled them, then reinstall ONE of it).
I have little red crosses on the LAN connections between my 2 pcs - one running vista, on running xp sp2. The ethernet cable is plugged in, and the ethernet ports work ok when connecting to a router, they only stop working when one pc is plugged to the other So far I've tried, amongst other things: -Installing the XP networking patch on the xp machine - Getting the workgroup and user names the same on both machines I dont seem to be able to run ipconfig on 1 pc - the window pops up ,scrolls and quickly closes. The xp machine says "cable unplugged" when connected to the vista pc, but is fine when I plug it into the router Can bright ideas...?

I am using a wireless connection with my laptop and I attempted to bridge my connection so i can play XBL on my 360. I recieved this message: "An unexpected error occured while configuring the network bridge." This started happening after i reinstalled windows. Before the reinstallation it worked completely fine absolutetly no problems. There are no more updates to install on windows updates. I am unsure if what im about to say has anything to do with this problem, but here goes. I went to device manager and went under network adapters clicked show hidden devices and then I tried to update my WAN miniport drivers(all of them) but everytime for all of them i get this message: " Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error when trying to install it, the system cannot find the file specified. What is my next step?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have 2 computers,1printer, xbox360,and ps2. Comp1 running vista and comp2 running winxp sp3. I also have a 5 port ethernet hub. Last week I switched from DSL to Cable 20mb. With the dsl router all I had to do to allow both machines on line at same time was to just hook them up to the hub. No modifications needed. My problem is that the new cable modem (motorola) will only allow One machine on at a time. To switch machines I must reset the modem and re asign ip each time I switch machines. My ultimate goal in the end is to have all 4 machines be able to access the internet and each other. Can I accomplish this with the 5 port HUB, or do I need to buy a router. (wireless is out of the question).
I'm trying to network my new Optiplex 740 with Vista Business (32bit), and Norton 360, to my old Euro PC with W2K Pro. and SystemWorks, using basic Belkin /Realtek cards and yellow ethernet cable. My broadband connection is through my old machine and works perfectly, as does the network card installation.
My new machine also indicates that its card is correctly installed and functioning correctly. BUT the Network and Sharing Center window shows this computer as linked to an Unidentified network and no connection to either the other computer or broadband connection.........
I have set up a network with my PC (Vista) and my laptop (Vista). I have files set to share. But when I try to find my PC from my laptop or when I try to find my laptop from my PC so I can use the shared files, they do not show up on the network map.

I recently bought a laptop, and guessed I'd sort out a network with the existing comp (how hard can it be?) I have internet access on main PC (Cat V wired), and laptop (wireless), but when I open network and sharing centre to try to access "the other" comp, the network won't show the other comp. From my laptop I have "laptop"(This Computer) - "Office" - "Internet". When I click on "Office" to show the network I get a list with "laptop", Siemens SE572 Wireless Router & Orb: Office. The first 2 listings are correct, but Orb: Office isn't, and it also shows as a Windows Media Player, I've tried everything I can think of but can't get rid of the "Orb: Office", which seems to be stopping my PC and laptop talking to each other. If I haven't bored you to death by now, as I'm gonna quickly get sick of having to drop everything onto a memory stick, and transferring to main pc to print etc.

It happens that windows doesnt list any of the existing networks as if the receiver didnt work, it says yhe wireless option isnt on and cant seem to turn it on. I also came across some wlansvc thing which might be the problem but havent found any resource or solution to my problem.

I've just recently encountered a problem connecting to the internet with my notebook and when I check to see what was wrong my computer says I'm not connected to any networks. So when I try to connect my computer doesn't show my wireless network it says a cable is not plugged into the network adapter 'local area connection". However everything is plugged in and my mom's notebook has no problem. Also it says that my computer doesn't have a wireless adapter installed and configured but it does and when I go to the properties it says the device is working properly. I don't know what to do anymore. I've restarted my computer and unplugged and replugged the cable and disabled and enabled the adapter.

When I run the wizard to connect to a network, it does not show the add ad-hoc network option, only four others for wireles, internet and vpn connection. Also, although I have networked two PC's both running Vista, I cannot ping the second machine from the first and vice versa despite having added routes to both machines. nslookup recognises the ip address of each machine, as does tracert(I should point out that both machines obtain their iP addresses from a router which also allows access to the internet. Both machines can see the internet).
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am networking Vista and XP. Everything seems to be working EXCEPT the XP computer does not show up in in the Vista network folder. I can access the XP computer by entering \computername in the "start search" box, after which I see all the XP shared files and can access the files as expected. When I run the "map complete network" function, the network map is correct and shows the switch, XP computer, and Vista computer. The XP side works 100%
The only problem is that on the Vista side when you open an explorer window and click on Network, the XP computer doesn't show up. For purposes of debugging, both firewalls are off. Authentication is set to NTLMv1 level, and the XP LLTD patch has been applied.
My home PC, running Vista and wired to the network, drops momentarily from my home network and looses the connection to the network printer. Usually happens when I click a link to a new page. An error comes up saying something like "page unavailable". I hit "refresh" and the page loads. I can sit at the PC and watch the network Icon in the system tray show up with a "red X" and then the red x disappears. The interesting thing is that my two laptops run wirelessly and wired to the network with out an issue. I am guessing it has to be something with the settings off myPC ethernet card? I tried updating drivers, but no new driver was available.

The Network Identification process identifies the wired LAN and the wireless network, tells me I'm connected to multiple networks and only grants me Local access. I can connect to LAN devices on the other end of the bridge but it won't connect outside of my subnet.
I have an XP desktop machine that uses the same bridge to connect to the DSL router downstairs and it works fine. The laptop also worked fine when it was running XP.
trying to configure the network settings by adding a second static IP address, so that it can see with the other pc's in the network. The network infrastructure is set up as the following: there is a DSL router in bridge mode, so all pc's connected to the network have a direct connection to the internet, and get their ip address from the ISP's DHCP server. Also the other pc's (with XP and linux) have a secondary IP address set up e.g. 192.168.1.10 so they can access a NAS also hooked up to the network, but not connected to the internet.

Nothing works to delete it, I have tried in command prompt, pressing delete, deleting in adobe bridge. And I cannot rename it too, the only way that I found to delete it was to use the Unlocker, so I don't need to know how to delete it, just simply why this happens?

View 4 Replies View Relatedive been getting this problem for a while now, even after system restoring. whenever im running something that requires audio, eg. itunes, ventrilo, Internet video etc a balloon will pop up from 'realtek hd audio manager' saying a device (my headphones) has been unplugged, it will then say the device has been plugged in again. it cuts the audio for about a second (very frustrating) and if i am in game, will make me lag also. it seems to occur more frequently when i am in vent and in game, if more than 2-3 people talk at once it will happen definately. i have tried reinstalling directx10, playing around inside the realtek hd audio manager.. but to no prevail.
View 5 Replies View RelatedOne of my friends has a media sharing problem with an XP Home (sp3) MCE 2005, WMP 11 desktop. I've tried to help him by setting up consistent user accounts (passworded) but it doesn't seem to solve the problem. In a nutshell, his network shows his desktop as both a computer and a media device and it seems he has more shares than I think is wise -- he has disks, folders, files, all marked as share with full control permissions to everyone. He also has tried to solve his problem by consolidating media, but put it all in the "all users" tree instead of with a single user. In short, I'm not sure what he has shared and where he has it.
As a result his music and pix seem to share on the network ok, but he gets duplicate entries in wmp and conflicts when trying to stream video on his network. Maybe this last problem is because of multiple shared videos with the same name maybe in multiple locations (or as multiple users)? So here are my two questions. First, is there an easy way I can help him turn off all sharing and start over? And second, does it matter that his desktop shows up as a media device AND as a computer? If so, how can he fix that problem?
Is my first post and i have a problem with avi file icon. I am from Cyprus and my english its not very good. Some of my avi files show a picture and some others show a black icon. I did not have this problem before. Before all my avi files show a picture. I have K-Lite Mega Codec Pack (new version). I try Vista Codec but i can solve it.
