Bluescreen Everytime Update 64bit SP1

Jun 2, 2009

Every time I update Vista Ultimate 64bit SP1 using the Windows update after a restart I get a blue screen. I have to go into safe mode (sometimes the updates are finished at this point when going to safe mode) and in safe mode reboot again and after that all is fine. The updates work, Vista runs fine. It happens every single time I do an update that requires a reboot at the end (Defender definitions update doesnt result in a blue screen).

I would like to fix this before I update to SP2. I have downloaded SP2 but not updated to it. I've only let the computer prepare for updating to SP2 but after this I choose not to proceed. Even after this I get the blue screen. All my drivers and Dell software should be up to date. I've attached the bluescreen message I get each time (don't know if it's exactly the same every time) and some error report Windows gave after restarting from the blue screen....

An Explanation Of The New Vista 64bit Update Philosophy

May 31, 2009

New Vista Home Premium 64bit user here. On my WinXP Pro PC, when I do the Microsoft Updates, I see Express and Custom update options. I like the option to install critical Express updates and be able to choose Custom updates for software or hardware. On my Vista Laptop, I don't see the Express and Custom options any more. Does Microsoft Updates for Vista Home Premium 64bit just install all the updates regardless now? Is there a link to an explanation of the new Vista 64bit update philosophy?

Winload.exe: Completly Black When It Came To Log In Everytime

Aug 28, 2009

my computer has been to alot last three days. First I came home, turned on the computer, and zomg! Blue screen at log in. That freaked me out. I tried restarting it, but the screen was just completly black when it came to log in everytime. So I then started trying to fix it. Did all sorts of checks, but nothing worked. Ended up reinstalling vista, but keeping my old files. Then it worked for an hour or so. Next morning, when I started it, this came up: "File:Windows/system32/winload.exe It couldn't be loaded because it's missing or is broken". It says I should put the vista installation disc inside, then repair it, but it doesn't "notice" that I've put the cd inside. It doesnt seem like it's being detected.

Install Some Programs, Freezes Everytime

Jul 12, 2008

i just bought vista x64, home premium sp1, and it's been nothign but hassle. i have been working with / repairing xp systems for 6 years now, there is not much that gets me on xp systems... vista however is different. i setup the system about 2 weeks ago, with new parts. the video card was backordered, so i used a 7600gt i had laying around instead. everything installed fine. i hadn't really used it, so yesterday when i recieved the other card, i thought i knew what to do. the new card is an ati hd2600, so i uninstalled the drivers for nvidia, changed out the cards, and it would freeze as soon as i could see the desktop everytime windows started. so i reformated. easy, as i had nothing on the system anyways. installed the ati card, worked fine. all the drivers back in, worked fine. now i am trying to install some programs, freezes everytime. one is nero 8, one is powerpoint viewer 2007. is there anything that works properly with x64? what benefits does x64 have? i haven't seen ANY yet.

Windows mail is not my default email - nor do i want it to be, i don'e even want the livemail to be my default mail application. there is more software that are installed that it shows up in the programs and appl folder where you can uninstall them. Xp was easy to get rid of unwanted junk. I really want to remove this windows mail- and stop it from opening and pushing my default msn email server to the side.

They downloaded fine without problems, but when I tried to run the Vista setup I ran into another error: 0x8007000D Windows was unable to create a required installation folder.

SP1 Instal Fails Everytime Error "Installation Was Not Successful"

May 3, 2008

I have tried installing Windows Vista SP1 roughly 8-10 times now, with no luck any time. It always gets to 98% complete on the first stage, then sits there for awhile before reverting, rebooting, and trying again. First time I got error code 0x800F0826, and Microsoft directs me here: Error message when you try to install Windows Vista Service Pack 1: "Installation was not successful" or "An internal error occurred while installing the service pack". None of the resolutions work. Then I got this message a few times 0x800705B4. Which I have read is a "Timed out" error. Its always at 98% on stage 1 of 3 that it hangs up before it fails and reverts................

BlueScreen Of Death

Feb 3, 2010

I was directed here after a thread I made on the notebookreview.com forums because they said I would be able to get some help here regarding my first BlueScreen of Death. I am running.

*Lenovo T400

*Vista Home Premium 32bit

I believe the problem lies in the USB Flash Drive I've been using, though I am not completely sure. Every time I plug in the flash drive, a screen comes up saying that it is damaged, and must be scanned/fixed. Unfortunately, I cannot scan/fix it because it is "in use" when it's plugged in (or so it says). I used it many times with the "fix it" window popping up without problems, so I didn't see any issues coming up in the near future. I was only using Chrome for website browsing, when I decided to plug in my flash drive to transfer some files. RIGHT after I plugged it in, the Blue Screen showed up. And the only thing I recently installed was "PerformanceTest v7.0" which benchmarks my computer's performance. I just uninstalled it though. Lastly, I was told to .rar a minidump file, but I cannot find anything in the minidump folder.

Bluescreen After DISKCRC.SYS...

Sep 15, 2009

A friend has a Lenovo laptop running Vista Home Premium. Right now, when booting to Vista the PC bluescreens and starts the boot process over again. This happens in normal as well as safemode. When in safemode the last file loaded is DISKCRC.SYS (probably just the last SYS file that would normally load). After a few seconds the bluescreen occurs and the laptop restarts. I don't have the details from the bluescreen yet. There have been no changes to the laptop.

I haven't had time to do a deep inspection, but BIOS settings are all correct and trying to boot to the last known good configuration doesn't change anything. I don't see an option to not restart on bluescreen from safe/normal mode boot screen. Of course Lenovo won't send out a Windows disc and one was never created when the laptop was purchased, so I currently don't have a disc that I can reload the laptop with.
