Blue Screen :: Switched Wireless To Wired Internet Connection

Dec 9, 2009

My Advent laptop has been giving me a BSoD for some time now, the error comes up usually when browsing over the net. I have searched for the answer but have found no solution. Am not sure if this is related but recently I have switched from using a wireless connection to a wired one, the first time I have done this since I bought the machine.

Wireless Connects Even If Wired Connection Is Available

May 26, 2008

I am running Vista SP1. When I turn on the computer with an ethernet cable attached and a wireless connection available, Vista will connect both the wired and wireless connections. This leads to a conflict and networking will not work until I turn off one of the connections. I then need to manually turn off the wireless, at which point the wired connections works. This did not happen on this computer when I ran XP.

I thought this might just be an idiosyncricy of this computer since I have not seen any discussion about the problem but I got ths same thing happening when trying to troubleshoot another laptop.

Wireless Connection But No Internet Access...

Sep 26, 2009

I have been on the phone collectively for 6 hours with AT&T as well as had a technician out here to look at this problem. I have a new wireless router box. The whole At&T system went down briefly (tvs and all). When it booted back up my computer wouldn't recognize the wireless network. After getting a new box, it will now recognize the wireless network in my home. It says I am connected to the network with excellent strength but I still cannot get online. My desktop works fine and I plugged the ethernet cable into my computer and it still won't get online being hardwired to the router. My firewalls are turned off. I have run an ipconfig with the following message:...................

Cant Connect To Internet But Have Wireless Connection

Dec 28, 2009

32 bit Windows Vista Home and I have McAfee security. This as my sons laptop and he could not get the OS to start up. I done a system restore have since been able to log in. From that point I have tried to connect to the internet with a netgear wireless router WGR614 v6. I can establish a wireless connection, but I am unable to connect to IE. When trying to do so, I get internet explorer cannont display web page.

When I try diagnose connections I get the host may be down and windows found a problem that cannot be repaired automatically. I am running a pc with xp home through the netgear router with an ethernet cable so I know the internet connection is good. I have tried to connect in safe mode. I have done an ipconfig reset and a dns flush. I disabled my windows firewall and still have no luck.

Wireless Internet Connection Fail

Mar 30, 2009

I'm really frustrated with this. I have no idea whats going on. I'll be browsing and my internet will start to slowly die and then cease. and then it becomes like a car without gas. You can let that engine just turn and turn and turn but it's never going to fire. Internet Browses fine > Internet starts to run slow > Internet Stops completely > Icon on task bar still has internet globe on it > repair and diagnose resets network adapter > globe goes away and shows that the network has local access only > stays like that for hours
1. Cant access router
2. Cant access internet browser sites
3. Cant connect through 3rd party applications....

Wireless Internet Connection Disable

Jun 3, 2009

My computer is running Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit, service pack 1. I have a DLink wireless router, model WBR-1310, hardware version B1, firmware version 2.02. The issue I have is my internet connection will randomly go away (the globe will disappear and my network will go local only). This can be while I'm in the middle of doing something online, or sometimes when I get back to the computer from being away for a few hours the connection is gone. I'll have to randomly disconnect/reconnect the connection to the router to reestablish my internet. I've disabled all sleep modes/screen savers/etc. I just want to keep this connection live 24/7. I would like to know if there is any way to fix this so that my connection becomes more stable.

64 SP1 Wireless Connection Unable The Internet

May 2, 2008

I've just purchased a new PC, running Vista Home Premium, with a built- in PCI Wireless adapter, but am unable to connect to the internet. I have emailed my supplier's technical support, but I don't think the problem is straightforward, nor do I know whether it is a hardware of software issue, so I thought I'd try elsewhere in the meantime.

The symptons are as follows:
I have an old Netgear DG824M wireless router/ADSL modem. I have a laptop running Vista Home Premium. This was able to connect to the router and hence to the internet straight away with virtually no configuration - just entered the WEP key and it all worked. This has recently been upgraded to SP1, and still works okay. I have my old desktop running XP. This has no connection problems. The new PC has an Asus WL-138GE (or 138G V2 - not sure which) PCI adapter. Initially, it was identified as a Broadcom adapter. The new PC had problems right from the start connecting to the router and the internet. Most of the time, it appears to be unable to get a DHCP address. The signal strength is always excellent, and it correctly identifies the router as a Netgear DG824M. When it does manage to connect to the internet, the connection only seems to last a few seconds, or is extremely slow. I cannot connect to the router at all using the new PC. It comes up with the username and password very quickly, accepts that, but then seems to hang loading the home page. I usually give up after about 5 or 10 minutes. When connected, I can ping the router and I can also ping websites, even though I don't seem to be able to connect to them using IE. I have no antivirus running, and the only firewall software is windows firewall

I have tried the following:
Checking DHCP client service running, Disable WEP, Disable Windows Firewall, I upgraded the wireless driver by downloading one from Asus. It now recognises the adapter as an Asus 802.11g Network Adapter (driver c:windowssystem32driversBCMWL664.SyS, Broadcom 4.102.15.56), but this doesn't seem to have made any difference. I deleted the adapter and let it recreate itself. It loaded up the same drivers. I've removed IPv6 ,I've set up the PC with a static IP address (192.168.0.51), set up the router as the gateway, and my ISP's DNS servers as the DNS servers. I added an =93ArpRetryCount=94 DWORD key to the registry as recommended somewhere. I made some further registry changes as recommended by Microsoft KB 928233. I reset TCP/IP and Winsock using netsh as administrator. I tried "netsh interface tcp set global rss=3Ddisabled autotuninglevel=3Ddisabled" None of these changes seem to have made any difference, and I've run out of things to try!

Internet Connection, Via Wireless Router, But Not WEP Protected

Mar 23, 2008

My Home network setup consists of the following....

In one room. 1 x laptop running XP Home, connected to the internet via
a linksys wireless router, and modem.

In another room, I have this laptop, Acer Aspire, running Vista
Business, and has wireless.

When I connected up my router (given to me by a family member, no
software, just router, and mains adapter), and switched on my Acer
laptop in the other room, I was able to connect to my Linksys Router,
and gain access to the internet without any security whatsoever, no wep
key or anything.

Now i know most people with problems have issues with not being able to
connect to the internet because of a wep key lost or alike.

My issue is, i would like to add security to my network to stop other
people in my building gaining access, or using my connection without my
permission.

I can also connect my mobile phone to my home wireless network, and
again, no wep key is asked for, which is quite worrying.

Blue Screen Kept Shutting Down,Internet Also Freeze.

Apr 24, 2009

I have a Compaq Presario CQ50 that was just purchased in November. About a week after we got it, I started getting the dreaded blue screen and it kept shutting down on me. Internet would also freeze. Went round and round with tech support, nothing they did ever seemed to fix the problem, but all of the sudden one day after an automatic Windows update, it was working fine. Fast forward a few months. Started getting some random issues over the last several weeks. Blue screen and Internet freezing again, then keyboard and touchpad stopped working. Tech support had me change some configuration settings in the BIOS and it started working again. The a couple days later, I turned on the system one day and was getting the "unable to start" error and it couldn't ever be fixed. Tech Support did a system restore that got me started, but lots of things were disabled that shouldn't have been and we couldn't get the Internet to work, so he recommended I back up and do a system recovery since something was obviously wrong. Did that, worked fine for about a day, then went to turn it on the other day and got the same "unable to start" again.

This time, it was able to fix it and start. The only program I've added since the recovery was a webdesign program. Had it before as well. Thought I was in the clear, but now I keep getting the Blue Screen and it keeps restarting on me. Then today I went to reinstall my printer and it won't install. During the installation, I get an error message, something about 1% not found win32. Sorry, I should have written it down. I called Tech Support again and they wanted me to send it in, but I absolutely can't do that as I run a business and can't be without it that long. So they told me to take it to Best Buy, which I will, but I'd love to be able to figure this out of my own so I don't have to be without my computer for an extended period of time.

Blue Screen Of Death: Connect To Internet

Sep 1, 2008

I just formatted my Computer because i had some problems, and after it, this problem appeared. Something like that appears for me on the Blue Screen: A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. If this is the first time you've seen this Stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps: Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed. If this is a new installation, ask your hardware or softwre manufacturer for any Windows updates you might need. If the problem continues, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use Safe Mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select Advanced Startup Options, and then select Safe Mode.

Assign Static IP To Both Wired And Wireless Adapters?

Feb 6, 2009

In my XP days I would assign each of my laptop's network adapters (wired and wireless) its own static IP address. I did this to make it easier to manage things like opening certain ports when using the laptop for gaming over the wired connection only.

Now that I have an all Vista home network consisting of a laptop and a desktop both with Vista Home Premium I am running into trouble assigning these static IPs on the laptop. The primary connection is the wireless and i use the wired connection to game or to transfer files across the network. When I go to set the IP on the wired connection I get the message: "Warning: Multiple default gateways are intended to provide redundancy to a single network such as and Intranet or the Internet. They will not function properly when the gateways are on two separate, disjoint networks (such as one on your intranet and one on the Internet). Do you want to save this configuration?".................

Analyze Blue Screen: No Consistency Of Circumstances, A Blue Screen Will Appear!

Jun 30, 2008

Business with SP1
Sony laptop, fast core2duo, 4GB
Defender+Avast!
Working beautifully for many months, and then a few
weeks ago this began happening:

Perhaps 2-3 times a week, and with no consistency of circumstances, a blue screen will appear. It might happen while working or when returning from hibernate. There's a countdown as memory is stored, and then a freeze. The only way to recover is to do a hard OFF (5 seconds on the power switch) and restart. When it first happened, I had not installed or changed anything, so I was comfortable doing a restore. It happened again.

It's confusing because the stated cause is inconsistent. I've checked to ensure that all drivers are updated and nothing that's contraVistarian is installed. What analytical steps can I undertake to discover what's causing this, and then to help me make the necessary changes?

Wireless Connection Works, Cable Connection Does Not!

May 15, 2009

I am having the worst problems connecting using a cable connection, which I need because as I am in Europe at the moment, many sites or private homes are not equipped with wireless. Now, when I connect with cable, everything seems to be working fine, the Toshiba connectivity doctor tells me I am connected, the diagnose program assures me that the problem has been resolved etc. etc. and yet whenever I try to connect (IE, Mozilla, Google, I have tried them all), I get an error screen. I have tried everything I could think of, checking my settings etc. Nothing works.

Let me emphasize that:
1) wireless connection works fine
2) it is a problem with my computer, not the host, since I have encountered
the same problem everywhere (libraries with password protected access,
private homes without password protected access etc.).

Different Blue Screens:Look Like Blue Screen Appears When To Much Action Is Going On Like Opening Of IE And Outlook

Feb 13, 2009

Problem Blue Screen. No new hardware or software installed recently, last Windows vista update was on 01/15. When I start first, PC passes user registration (boots fine) and
does the normal stuff like loading software and starting the wireless internet connection via Netgear, opening some windows/programms I will close. All normal, but than comes a Blue Screen and very fast shut down of system with restart. Hardly can read the message...Look like Blue Screen appears when to much action is going on like opening of IE and Outlook... or open to many windows... or some bad programm/hardware is booting. But when I restart, restart gives a different blue screens and trouble is much earlier or directly after registering to the system.

But all starting or booting turn slower, real slow now. Start in --safe mode with net working-- the PC works, but the PC can't handle heavy workloads, is really slow in action. I cannot open --My pictures-- to see all picture files displyed on screen (2.7 GB) (the process trying to access the files in safe mode is real slow) and when I attempt to transfer the file to a USB stick, the computer is stopping in middle of action (after 50% transfer)..........

Wireless Connection Without Selection The Connection

Mar 24, 2008

With Vista, I can get internet for my new Dell XPS laptop over the wireless connection without doing anything other than selecting the connection. No user name or password is needed. But to plug in directly into my cable modem, it does not work. Seems to require user name and password. But I use Verizon and a Motorola SB5101 modem and while it is broadband, I did not think it is pppoe. I don't even know of any user name or password for my account. Am I wrong, is all broadband pppoe? My internet connection works just fine without asking for pppoe login info when I use my desktop with Windows XP. So, it seems to Vista specific problem.

Screen Freeze Or Blue Screen Needing Reboot

Feb 1, 2009

I've had voltage issues causing my computer to freeze or reboot during games and dvds. Fixed that and the computer was fine after memtest showing no problems. That was late Dec.

A few days ago, the computer would go to a blue screen saying it's dumping physical memory and then automatically reboots. Thinking my harddisk might be collapsing on me (I have a seagate barracuda 7200.11 500Gb HD with the SD15 firmware, the infamous crash friendly HD), I flash the HD with the SD1A firmware from seagate, then it was fine. 2days later, Catalyst started to cause problems by not responding, so I formated the drive and reinstalled vista ultimate, along with Catalyst, drivers from Mobo manufacturer ASUS, plus a couple of other softwares. That was yesterday, and now I'm getting the same blue screen back, or the computer just freezes.
