I don't know whether or not this fault might be due to the Service Pack I recently downloaded but its a ****** nuisance. I have to 'Save to' a non-Mail folder then, using Windows Explorer, open it there.
I am not able to open any attachments at all. When I try to open a PDF file, I receive an error message "There was an error opening this document. This file can not be found. Yet, if I save the file attachment and open it through another means I can open the document. Cannot open jpeg files or Internet Explorer pages
After updating to IE8 through normal Windows Update, I can no longer open PDF attachments in Acrobat as I could before. Message states it cannot find the file. I can save the attachment and then open with Acrobat. I have removed the IE8 update and hence reverted to original IE7. The problem is hence resolved. My guess is IE8 has somehow changed the temp file location, and hence the file cannot be found. There must be a registry pointer change that caused this. I'll keep IE7 until the group can come up with a simple fix or recommendation.
i'm using windows vista and windows live mail. Some attatchments i'm sent in emails i can open but some i can't, even if i know the sender. What do i do to change this? Trying to open an important attatched doc.
i am using windows mail all of a sudden i can't open my attachments. using norton antivirus. i have also went to tools>options>security and unchecked DONOT ALLOW ATTACHMENTS to be saved or opened but it still is checked when i go back in.
I get a message that "this file could not be found" when i try to open an attachment from a sender. However, if i save it to my documents it will then open.
After I installed IE8 on my Windows Vista Ultimate 32 bit computer, I had a problem with it conflicting with my Windows Mail program and I could not open attachments unless I saved them to the desktop first, so I had to uninstall.
When i send an attachment to people they can't open them. I've got vista when the others havn't. It's the same the other way as well i can't open some attachments people send me. Its mainly spreadsheets that are the problem
If I receive an e-mail with an attachment "DOC" my system can't open it. I'm running with Vista and even if someone else is using Vista I still can't open it. The system suggests Adobe or Internet Explorer neither of which works. I've tried to get my Microsoft Works Word to open it but I'm not having any luck. I don't have Microsoft Word, could that be my problem.
Since today I have been unable to open attachments (word, excel and jpg) except pdf files. I am able to copy and paste to a folder and open from the folder. I get a "The file can not be found" message. Had a big windows service pack yesterday, could that change any mail settings?
I have vista home premium and use Windows Mail. I have 3 users on my computer. One of the users can't open email attachments, any type. He can save attachments and open them from the folder, but can't just click and open. I have the same problem as the administrator occasionally. When it happens, I exit the email, re-open and it works fine. No error messages, just nothing happens when I click on the attachment. I have Internet Explorer 8, any chance that has something to do with it? I've downloaded updates, checked settings, everything is in order as far as I can tell. In security, attachements are allowed and it's set for Internet Zone.
I have windows vista only 1 year old It updates on schedule and virus and etc scans everyday and I have never had any problem until last week of opening my attachments even ones I send to family of family pictures, I have scanned my picture folder and no problems but in my emails after the emails come in and I go to open attachment, (and yes I know the ones I open are safe to) they will not open it just tells me there is no file, even on ones I have previouly sent out, now if I exit windows mail and then go back in I can open the attachments, in researching someone somewhere said certain emails with certain graphics, example they mentioned Kim Komando newsletters, would prevent you opening your own attach, I found this is true even with weather updates, pollen updates for allergys, and pillsbury newsletters and etc, anything with grapics
Unable to open .pps attachments since I installed IE8. Had no problem before this. Error message suggests turning off anti-virus but that didn't work. Am using Trend Micro anti-virus.
When receiving attachments with logo or photos (word or excel) I cannot open them. I get the above message. Then I get the message "file format may not be supported by any of the installed convertors or the file may be corrupt". If I instruct not to convert the doc opens but without photos or logos. If I forward same email and attachment to another computer running windows xp there is no problem opening the file.
Recently I can not open attachments in Windows Mail. I'll get the message :WindowsSystem32xxx.xls or xxx.doc can not be found. How can I solve this problem, in the past I did not have this problem....
Right out of the blue I cannot open attachments with a .doc extention..I can open PDF attachments but not .doc. I use Open Office latest version. I can however save these attachments (usually resumes, I am a recruiter) to a folder on my desk top and view them from the folder. When I do try to open these resumes within windows mail I get an error window that says "c:windowssystem32 henthedocumentname.
I am having problems getting attachments to open on my Windows Mail. This started about a week ago right after I had to re-install McAfee Antivirus. I thought it had something to do with that so I went into it and disabled the email scan. It did not fix the problem. I also had SpySweeper installed on my computer but was told that with McAfee, I did not need it. So, I uninstalled it and it still didn't fix the problem. I also went into tools>options>security and made sure the option for "Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus" was not checked and it isn't.
vista/windows mail/office 2007 all installed. Error message to set associations in control panel. Have done this many times and seems that the correct icon is listed though when I go through the "change file association", the check box for "associate all the time" is greyed out so I cannot check it. If I save the attachments to the desktop, they open just fine but I want to be able to open them in Windows Mail. I saw the fix for .doc attachments. Is there one for exe also? Would I have to fix each extension/file type that I wish to open while in Window Mail.
I reinstalled Vista and then updated with SP1 when I try to open an email attachment that is a Word .doc file it will not open and gives an error message that the file type does not have an application associated with it. The .doc file extension is associated with Word and I have re-associated it several times. The file will open if I save it elsewhere or drag it to my desktop and then open it. Is there something in the registry or elsewhere.
