IObit Game Booster 1.1 - TechSpot Downloads. Very rarely do I find little free apps that actually do anything useful, but this app closes down all 2000, xp and vista processes not needed during gaming. I got an extra 7fps in Far Cry2 small ranch very high benchmark. That's the same increase as overclocking from 3.16 to 3.8 on my Vista 64 x48 e8500 with gtx280. You probably all know about it already, but I only found it recently.
my issue is while playing ET:QW my sound cuts in and out? only when gaming on a server. i have installed all the latest drivers for everything-- all 64BIT drivers.. so i am at a loss why my sound cuts out.
When I burn a data DVD using the right click - sent to d: my system laggs really bad.
My specs are AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ (2.6GHz dual core) 3gb DDR2 ram nForce 430 chipset geForce 6150SE (256mb dedicated and 1100mb shared) DVD multi drive all drivers are the latest x64 versions Windows Vista Home Premium x64 SP2 (up to date on all updates)
I'm using DVD+RW disks....
Is this normal.I mean my entire computer was lagging BAD and this is a fresh install of Vista (just switched from x86 to x64 a few daysago). None of my resources are being hogged up or anything like that page file was at about 1.5gb, 35% memory usage (out of 3gigs),processor usage was at about 10%.
Why am I lagging so bad when burning a DVD? Any other time, the computer is extremely fast.but while burning it took almost an entire minute to open up firefox.
He really must be stoned because earlier today he said that he makes more than $14,000 a week. In his dreams. If I made more than $14,000 a week, this would be the last place I would park my ass every day. I would be on a tropical island with five 23 year old BABES serving me drinks all day long while I lay in the sun on the beach.
Alias has to scam little old ladies out of their hard earned money to purchase Ubuntu and everyone knows that Ubuntu is free but NOBODY wants it. Imagine, Ubuntu is free and is still on less than one percent of the desktops out there. That should tell you all you need to know about that piece of crap OS.

I have a problem with Aero, where some of the programs I run (iTunes for example) will be fuzzy! If I disable Aero, it goes back to crystal clear.
I have an NVidia 9800GT and 6GB of ram.
I would not have even known there was a problem had I not downloaded iTunes, since all of my other programs look great! I'm fairly new to this forum thing, so please let me know if there is any additional information that is needed.
Whenever i try to download anything it just make a little beeping noise when the downloading is done and then when i go to check where my program is it's gone,
Usually when I'm playing games, I play with my wired XBOX 360 controller, anyways...its plugged into my front usb port. So while im playing, after 10 min. the PC starts to make noise (humming noise). So i was wondering if theres anything wrong with the controller or the PC (because when i plug in my ipod to recharge for 1 hr it doesnt make humming noise even once). Plz i need a solution and thx.
On a fresh install of vista ultimate x86 if i increase my half-open TCP connections ,then on restart my PC freezes on the first black bootscreen & then BSOD Utorrent was killing my browser(firefox) so ive tried to patch the TCP connections again & again , same sad outcome - Unbootable PC. Ive just built it Abit AN52,Ath6400,2GB OCZ800,2xWD500GB AAK,Hitachi160GB S,8600GT ,Pioneer212 ,650W PSU.
Today ive installed Vista Ultimate x64 & im having no problem browsing with Utorrent running but im not used to a 64 bit OS, if i have any problems id like to return to x32 & keep my torrent client why something so small as to open more internet connections would kill my PC.
Before i had vista With XP my comp never use to over heat use to stay 36?? celsius or lower Now since i got XP my comp runs at 39?? celsius or higher and my comp freezes when it hits 40 or higher is there any way that i can switch back to XP? or anyway to fix the prob non-money wise?
"Recent and controversial benchmarks for Windows 7 leave an important question unanswered: 'Is it faster than GNU/Linux?' Here, at last, is a benchmark that pits Ubuntu, Vista and Windows 7 against each other on the same modern hardware. From install time to GUI efficiency, Ubuntu beats Windows and is often twice as fast. Where Windows 7 is competitive, the difference is something the average user would not notice. The average GNU/Linux user is now getting better absolute performance from their computer as well as better value than the average Windows user."
1) Vista is the slowest most crappy os, how can I make it faster?
2) You could throw it out the window so it will fall and it would go faster
1) if I tied a rock it it before I throw it will it go faster?
2) idiot! the acceleration g is constant!!! no matter if its a feather or a canon ball! What differs is the distance it will travel as its accelerating, and its aerodynamics.
1) so if I put it in an aerodynamic enclosure it will go faster?
2) yes but thats not all you can do!
1) Ahh I see what you mean.. can I put it in a canon and shoot it?
2) canons are so 16th century! Now that the US economy is falling apart they are selling the shuttle rocket solid fuel boosters that you can tie on to vista and shoot into space!
1) But what if we steer it towards a planet? Wont the gravitational pull make it faster?
2) That would do some good but if you really want to make if faster you can steer it towards a star
1) A star is good.. but I would like to make it go faster.. vista is so lame its still slow
2) then steer it towards a black hole its intense gravitational pull will accelerate it to close to the speed of light
1) But what will happen when it enters the black hole?
2) It will enter a parallel alternate universe where vista works well, doesnt have bugs, and free and works fast.
Are there real advantages to upgrading from 800MHZ memory to 1066? I use my computer for common tasks such as txt edit (Wordpad or above); CD-DVD burning, email, Internet Explorer. I just changed my graphics card from a 8600 to a 9880 Nvidia board, and the computer has become much more faster.
Sorry if this is the wrong section but, sometimes when im just on the computer my computer will make a noise. I really dont know how to describe the noise but its like when the fan in your room is turned to like extra fast. Whenever the noise comes my computer just starts to lag.
My computer is a desktop HP Pavilion with Windows Vista (64-bit). When I turn the computer on the light that says is on goes on and the computer makes noises like is working but nothing happens, it's like the computer is off. That happened for a week then it really went on and I was able to use it like nothing happened. A week later the same thing happened, I wasn't able to used it for a week. Then a week later again I was able used it, and is been happening that for a month now. I ran my anti-virus but it didn't find anything.
on my compaq laptop i have wireless "G" on my compaq desktop i have wired "N1" so laptop speed is 54mps desktops is 100mps i downloaded an appplication on my laptop download speed was max 450kbps i downloaded an application (same one) on my desktop piddly 87kbs and the desktop is supposed to be way faster also why are all wired coonection on status bar in vist maximum 100mps but wireless they go up to 150mps?
I am receving a popup warning that a given device "could run faster" if plugged in to another USB port. I only have two external ports and have been using the same devices since day 1; Logitech receiver and iPhone cable. The only recent changes hardware wise is Dell installed a new motherboard. I have uninstalled the two USB composite devices and reinstalled them, no luck. I have check for updates and non are found.
I know this question has been asked, but in my opinion, never fully answered, depending of where I look. I bought a new system :PC 6400 RAM, MSI 8600GT Overclocked. Now, I plan in "some" foreseeable future to add another 2 GB of RAM but not now, and I don't mind reformatting and start from scratch at any time. Should I go 32 or 64 bit? All drivers are available for my stuff. Software too for the most part. I heard 32bit runs faster than 64, and sometimes the opposite. What should I do?
Have an 80gb iPod plugged in. All of a sudden I see a little notification saying 'this device can run faster if you plug it into another port.' huh? it runs fine. Now Windows wants me to run Check Disc on the iPod. But when I do it, it says it can't, since the disc is in use. So when I click 'schedule scan at startup,' it does nothing.
just got some games loaded and I used to have ATITray Tools which would let you keep the frame rate and temps in the corner during game play, anything like that for Nvidia? Just ran Quake4 at full specs and had Nvidia performance control panel turn the fan to 90%... but would like to monitor the temps and frame rates on this and other games. 9800GT 1GB. ( as soon as the new card arrives.... back to ATI tools.
Recently I had a crash while I was playing a game, so I rebooted manually because I had too. From that time, when Vista boots, my harddisk makes a weird loud noice everytime before entering loginscreen and my boottime is extended with +-20sec. I've figured out myself that since the crash ,I watched a startup log and saw that Vista does a quick chkdisk, which would explain the extra noise my HD does just before booting. I've tried everything , from checking for a dirty-bit , disabling autochkddk to even formating my system. But every time my system crashes, the next time it boots , my HD makes a weird noise.
After the rolling green bars of starting up vista, the hard drive makes alot of noise (lots of disk activity?), vista takes 5-10 seconds longer. The noise is very annoying! And I'm concerned that it will ruin the hard drive. Plus my 20 second bootup is also longer. This started happening after two months living with vista - didnt happened at day one.
I noticed the problem after installing new drivers for my VGA and manually installing some vista/office 2007 security updates. Coincidence? I've tried uninstalling the drivers and installing new ones - but no luck. I've also tried chkdsk /r in an elevated privledge command prompt and a defrag, anti-virus scan and spyware scan. Furthermore, the only thing I have changed in the boot up sequence is: adding 4 core cpu support when booting up, and stopping a few startup items. I have also disabled the readyboost service.
I currently have a problem with running dreamscene, it slows my computer down when running it, as soon as I open up other windows. Also moving windows around the desktop is noticebly slower, along with the fact dreamscene stutters. I currently use a Nvidia Geforce 7300se which is intergrated graphics.
I was looking to upgrade to a cheap ATI HD3450 graphics card to solve this problem. Does anyone here know if the HD3450 will speed up dreamscene to its optimal level along with using and opening up windows without slow downs?
How to boot Vista faster? I have Vista Home Premium on Core 2 Duo 2.26GHZ. Also i have 4GB ram. How can I make my Vista boot faster? I followed all the tutorials in this site, but didnt help much. Msconfig tweaks (extra services/programs disabled on startup) Disk Defragment. My boot time is 89 seconds.
Has anyone on here successfully installed PhotoDraw 2000 v2 on Vista 64-bit? If so, how did you do it? How can I install this? I (will) have Vista Home Pre 64 (in a few days). (PS: I have no clue about dual boots or compatibility mode...actually I've never even seen Vista in person before.)
This program was/is one of the BEST! PS: Win XP wasn't exactly friendly towards PhotoDraw 2000 v2 (so I've read). And Office 2007 isn't exactly friendly towards it either (so I've read).
i installed cricket 2004 in my laptop with 1gb ram. unfortunately the game requires only 64mb of ram. so my game runs very faster that i culdnt play on it. i want to restrict the memory size that is allocated to that application.
