Adobe reader will not open pdf files in Internet Explorer.
Also when I now go to the Adobe website the computer seizes.
When I try to load adobe reader 9 I get this message

I recently installed Vista Home premium on my 1 yr old computer that wassuppossed to be "Vista Ready" the upgrade came as part of the packagejust not got around to installing it until now, I have adobe acrobat pro6.0 plus pro 7 upgrade I also have downloaded Reader V8.1.2 with all ofthem I get the error message the program is not working and windows willlook for a solution and notify me etc etc, I have gone to adobe's
website to try and find a solution to no avail or at least nothing Ihaven't already tried I have quite a few other annoying little problemswith it but will deal with them one at a time.
I am currently having problems resizing pdf files when viewing them in acrobat reader 8.0. Basically, the window will resize, but the content that I have opened will not. I am using windows vista ultimate x64.I have installed the reader normally, and I have also tried installing it under xp service pack 2 compatibility as an administrator. Additionally, I have tried running the reader in normal compatibility mode and xp sp2 compatibility as an administrator. I have also tried the foxit reader 2.0, which resizes the content, but seems to require a lot of cpu to do so and doesn't display the content as clearly as adobe's reader.Any workarounds, or other pdf reader recommendations?

When I go to the link at the bottom of the error message it takes me to a knowledge base. At this knowledge base it gives me the chance to troubleshoot and download the exe file. None of it works.
I changed computers that now has Vista and can't figure out how to get Adobe Reader to work. I think I downloaded the free version correctly but I can't get it to work. Must I buy it again or is it possible to retreive it somehow?

For some reason Vista stopped using Google Sketchup to open files with the SKP extension. (It started using Adobe Reader). If I attempt to navigate to and open the correct program (Open With | Chose Default Program | Browse) Sketchup is not added to the list of candidate programs (no error indicated -- just doesn't happen). I can open a file from within the Sketchup program or drag a file onto the Sketchup desktop icon but can't open with the correct program by double clicking the SKP file. What am I missing?
View 9 Replies View RelatedTrying to install Adobe reader on my Vista Home Premium (SP-2) system, I encountered numerous "privilege" problems. UAC is disabled, I R-Clicked on the installer and selected "Run as Administrator". The installation was interrupted numerous times, saying the installer lacked privileges to write to various different folders, mostly under the Program Data folder, and also in the Start Menu folder. On each occasion, I had to open Explorer, R-Click on the folder in question, and "Take Ownership" of it. I am the sole user of this system, so if I don't own the folders, who the hell does? My account is an administrator account.
This turned what should have been an uneventful 15 minute long procedure into an hour long hassle. Is there ANY way to get rid of this ownership nonsense so I don't have to go through this every time I install something? I thought disabling UAC was supposed to solve this problem. Unlike many, I'm not a real Vista basher, but this privilege/ownership business just has to go if you ask me.
I recently bought a new Dell and had Vista Home Premium SP1 installed on it. I cannot get Adobe to work. I have installed Adobe 9 the latest version. I don't know what to do next. I have a Q8200 2.33 GHz 6GB 64 bit operating system.

When I start the "Fingerprint registration wizard', I get the following message: "Error Invalid class string. Suspect installation problem." I have un-installed, re-installed at least 10times. no luck. I got the newest software from MicroSoft, DPPM_201_ENG.exe. (it says: VISTA Compatible).Mouse works just fine. I googled for an answer, I found the same problem that others also have, but nobody had an answer. I installed also under Windows XP, there it works perfectly with the same installation software. Checked at the MS-knowledge base, fix recommendations are more than 2 years old, tried it anyway, still no luck. Changed USB ports, ran it as Windows XP compatible, tried really everything, I am really at a loss. Hopefully someone out there has/had the same problem and got it working? After 2 days of trying I'm really getting..., well you know what I mean!
View 9 Replies View RelatedI ask because when I go into Programs and Features, neither of these are there. I do have an Adobe Flash Player 10 ActiveX and an Adobe AIR (whatever that is). I also now have an Adobe Download Manager which came when I downloaded the subject two programs. NOTE: The Flash Player shows as a plugin on Firefox
ALSO: The site told me to uninstall the older versions of these two programs prior to installing the new, but I don't have an older version of either. This came about because I was having a problem with a game that worked until after I installed the latest NVIDIA driver. The game manufacturer told me to install both of these as a measure to correct the issue. It didn't correct it BTW. Other games still work fine.
Has anybody found any problem with this package in Windows Vista?

I purchased a Sandisk Ultra II, 2GB to transfer data from my laptop to
the Gateway. The data transferred from the laptop to the Sandisk but
the computer with Vista does not see the data on the card. I saved a
photo from the Vista computer to the card and it shows up with the Vista
computer but not in the XP computer. Apparantly the card is fine. What

I have a Gateway ML6703 Notebook running Windows Vista Home Premium 32-Bit.I had to reload windows because of a windows update that put my computer in a forever restart loop. Anyway, after the reload I noticed I'm missing the drive I need to look at my photos how to find out who the model/vendor is? I looked in the device manager and
uninstalled the Mass Storage Controller, which doen't say what it is or even if it is the reader, then reboot. The computer does a search but doesn'tfind anything, then asks to insert the disk that came with the drive which I never had. I also tried the operating disc but my machine doesn't find it there either.
I purchased reader a month ago anticipating use on my new computer that just arrived. Then I find it will not work with Vista 64. I got spoiled with it on XP. Does anyone know when software will be available for Vista 64?If not does anyone know of a good fingerprint reader that is compatable with Vista 64?

drives ) but after formatting my system and performing Windows updates, it's
gone. Usb drive on card reader still works but sd card slot not responding.
I've already tried reinstalling drivers, also installing a clean Vista but
nothing changed. And also tried activating removable drives management from
Vista options.
I think hardware is still ok but how can i use it again ?
For anyone is looking for an alternative to acrobat reader, then try foxit reader. I use it and am very happy with it, smaller footprint aswell than arobat reader.

There is information: please format the card. I made also changes at regedit: from 16 to 1 but still the same problem. Maybe it's IRQ problem?

Cin the card to the reader an error pops up saying the file doesn't have a program associated to it and i need to create one in the set associations control panel. I know where the set associations panel is, but i don't know how to actually associate a program to the reader.

All of my drivers are up-to-date (I believe... I'm not sure exactly which device I am looking for in device manager). View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Inspiron 530 running Vista Home Premium x64 SP2.It has an internal card reader,a TEAC CA-200,that connects internally to the front USB connector on the motherboard.When the reader works,it shows up at four drive letters in Windows Explorer. The problem is that it doesn't work.When I first boot the PC the drives show up. After plugging in and ejecting a memory card a few times,all the drive letters go away and when I try plugging in a memory card it occasionally gives me a USB Error message that talks about a missing driver.It lists six USB ports with one listed as unknown - driver missing.If I open the case and unplug and re-plug the reader cable, the drives are all found again.Then in short order they'll disappear again.I've worked with Dell tech support and they've replaced the reader and its cable with no improvement.I've updated the chipset drivers with no improvement.Dell's last suggestion was to reinstall Windows from scratch. Doing a Google search for "dell card reader not recognized"finds a LOT of reports of this problem and I've already tried the suggested fixes. Unless you have the solution,I can see only two options going forward.Pretend the reader isn't there and get an external card reader,or get an internal card reader that uses a standard USB cable to plug into an available port on an added USB card.
