I just got my laptop last week Thursday with Vista on it which is all new to me and put all the software I needed virus protector, spyware terminator and comodo firewall. I believe I remember seeing in one of the scans waittokillservice and I think I accidently deleted it in the scan. Now my computer is taking forever to shut down and went looking for a solution and found that I needed that waittokillservice to have it shut down a little faster than about 3 minutes and when I looked for it it is gone. Is there anything I can do about getting that back?? I didn't get a reinstall CD with this laptop so am hoping there is some other way of getting it.
My recycle bin don't get refresh when i deleted item why? I was not like this before. I encountered this problem before and all i did was system restore. What is the problem actually? Is there anyway to set the Recycle Bin NOT to get deleted accidentally? I always delete it when i want to just empty it.
Deleted files don't go into recycle bin, when I deleted files..they seemed to be deleted permanently without going to recycle bin first. How do I fix this problem? I'm using Vista home premium 32 bit. And I really hate the vista
When I delete an email it does not show up in my deleted items folder. It just disappears. I deleted an email accidentally and now I cannot find it because none of my deleted emails are in the folder. Where are they going?
I have just bought a new pc with Vista Home Premium x64. Problem is that the recycle bin won't show deleted items. The bin just looks empty. If I click on empty recycle bin it prompts me if I want to delete these 16 (or whatever number) items, so they must be there but will not display. I have tried displaying hidden files and checked in recycle bin properties that files are not deleted rather than placed in the bin to no avail. If I click restore items nothing happens.
When i delete files and pictures to my recycle bin, it never shows anything in there but its thereb to empty it, how can i change settings to show files that i put into bin.
I like to sort my Recycle Bin by the Date Deleted column. But I always have to add that column every time I open the Recycle Bin and it never sticks. How do I get the Date Deleted columns to stay there?
I cleaned my recycle bin yesterday and after that realized that it had some of my very important data. I want to know if there is any inbuilt technique to recovery those files OR I shall go to some third party windows data recovery software.
I just bought my 'puter a few days ago and it had this problem. If anyone is still having this same problem, here's how I fixed mine...Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Cleanup Then just check Recycle Bin and run the program.
How can I stop my deleted items folder being deleted when I shut down windows mail? I would rather keep the messages for a while before I delete the folder.
I've been using Windows Mail for 18 months without any significant problems.
Now, when I delete an email from my "Inbox," it does NOT appear in my "Deleted Items" folder. It just seems to disappear. I did read many of the earlier posts and have tried the suggestions. I've gone to Tools>Options>Advanced>Maintenance - the "Empty messages from the Deleted Items folder on exit" is NOT checked. I've also gone to Current View "Show all messages" - that's identified/checked. Is there something else that I can do? I'd appreciate any suggestions. This is the first time I've used the Discussion Group, so I hope that I'm doing this correctly.
I turned my machie on this morning and my recylce bin has gone. re-booted, still not there. Restored to yesterday (when it was there) and still no bin.
Vista Recycle Bin not emptying. The Recycle Bin appears to be functioning correctly, in that the context menu option to 'Empty Recycle Bin' greys out, the icon changes, and even the $RECYCLE.BIN folder (and subfolder 'Recycle Bin') show empty (hidden and operating system files not hidden) with total size around 20K. However, when running a full Windows Defender scan (with an "empty" Recycle Bin), a large list of files are lsited as being scanned within the Recycle Bin, within a sub-folder (not otherwise shown) corresponding to the HKEY_USERS key 'S-1-5-21-xxxxxxxxxx-xxxxxxxxxx-xxxxxxxxxx-xxxx' (actual key replaced by x's).
When used Explorer to go directly to folder 'C:$Recycle.BinS-1-5-21-xxxxxxxxxx-xxxxxxxxxx-xxxxxxxxxx-xxxx' I am taken to 'C:$Recycle.Bin ecycle Bin'. which is of course empty. If I manually delete the Recycle Bin a number of folders and files are listed for confirmation to be deleted, which also are not listed within Explorer (or on Recycle Bin properties). The Recycle Bin is automatically recreated, and the hidden files seem to disappear, but the problem again manifests itself over time. Why are these file not being deleted by emptying the Recycle Bin, why can I not see them, and how can I delete them routinely?
I just noticed: I drag a file into Recycle Bin...it doesn't show it's in there. Yet when I right click on the recycle bin icon to delete, it says the usual 'do you want to delete this,' and I say yes, and it's gone.
Why can't I see there's trash IN the recycle bin? I know I musta clicked something.
there everything has been fine until the last 2 days but now if i click and drag somethng to recycle bin i just get a box come up saying deleting and then the box just sits there if i click cancel or close it just says cancelling and then i have to end the task through task manager.
Last night I had the silly idea of backing up my pc (using vistas inbuilt backup) when I was tired and sleepy. You guessed it, I ended up deleting some very, very important files from my pc instead of my removeable on whch I needed space. Allsorts of files: canon RAW, photoshop, indesign. I did this through my recycle bin. About 50gbs worth. I realised at the time and immediately stopped using the computer and switched it off. I am now surfing using an old computer. I have read threads about 'recuver' and I'm going to test it on this computer. My question is this: How do I install it on the pc with the lost files, without it overwriting on the space where my files where? The pc in question had a partition and all the files were from one partition, so if I install it on that partition is that ok?
