32 Bit.exe Program: Compatible With Different Windows OS
Nov 15, 2009
I'm writing a batch file which calls a 32 bit.exe program. I want it to be compatible with the different Windows operating systems. The problem is that the path to "Program Files" is different depending which OS is being used.
Without a doubt the worst windows version ever made! Microsoft were finally on track with windows XP pro but they had to go and screw it up by bringing us vista! Nothing works, nothing is compatible every program supposedly compatible seizes or shuts down! It is constantly vulnerable to viruses! There's no end to the complaints I have about this crappy version of windows! Wake up microsoft because you're just soft now and nothing micro about it!
I installed my Sims 1 game and everything that should be at the bottom of the screen is in the middle. Evidently it isn't compatible with Vista. or is there a way I can make it compatible. I already clicked on properties and picked run as XP and I already click to run as administrator. Nothing works.
We use hundreds of photos a day to cut out, and edit and use on our online ecommerce shopfronts. We have no software now that lets us cut out objects and put them into new backgrounds. I dont care that you took PICTUREIT! away (WELL I DO CARE), if you had replaced it with something else that was equally as functional or better, but to take it away and not replace it with anything comparible is rediculous! You have gone back 7 years in time
People use this software every single day of the week. I use it so much I would be willing to pay a per month price to have access to it ! Could Microsoft PLEASE give us a suitable program that is VISTA compatible. Why dont you just make these obsolete products available by monthly subscription ? you would make HEAPS of money off it and your customers would be a lot happier than they are now ! I am in the process of replacing my current PC (with Windows XP) for a new upgraded PC with Windows Vista. My concern is that all my old software in my current PC (with XP) may not be compatible with Windows Vista. But I am told Microsoft has come out with Vista SP1 that should take care of all compatibility. Is this true? Has anyone had any problem with Windows Compatibility in installing old software from XP into Vista?
Does this work for anything? I've tried setting the properties of various older Windows and DOS programs, that ran under XP, to run in compatible mode. It doesn't work no matter how I set it.
I have MSN so I can't send photos from my Windows Photo Gallery. It says it's not compatible. So in sending attachments from my MSN e-mail, I am having trouble with attachment size. For some reason some of my photos end up being over 1,500 KB. Which of course takes forever to send. I need to make them smaller some how. I don't know how they got bigger. When some of them are normal sized and they are taken with the same camera and imported the same way.
Are OE and Mail compatible in this network? Or do I have to choose one or the other? If they are compatible, can I use the Mail setup wizard and insert the old user name and address. Actually, I started the wizard and on page 2 it autimatically inserted the old email address.
i have recently been having trouble finding a compatible m-peg2 decoder for windows media player 11. that has been fixed, thankfully, but the picture quality is somewhat like a cartoon. here is a frame of spiderman 3:
Reasons for not being able to send mail outbound using Windows Mail: Some say "Windows Mail is not compatible with most McAfee and Norton antivirus programs. Those will need to be uninstalled, NOT just disabled."
Others say "it sounds like interference from a spyware/spamware program" - what nonsense! It seems for Microsoft it was the best of times, it was the worst of times when they launched Windows Vista.....
I'm getting "a program needs your permission to continue" how do I add the program to a trusted list so I dont get this any more. Im bouncing around lots of different programs and its driving me crazy, I need to stop this for selected programs that I trust like putty
I installed on my brand new Windows Vista PC an unnecessary program (D-Link Monitor, but it is not important). The program is not needed and also it didn't install properly. Now when I start my PC, the program starts up displaying several messages to inform me that it cannot work.
I had a look in StartUp - it is not there. I tried to uninstall it to no avail.
How/where else can start of this program be triggered? And how to make it not to start?
In the Windows 7 test versions released earlier this year, the built-in Windows Mail program was gone, along with Windows Photo Gallery and Windows Movie Maker applications.
install a fresh install over my old copy of vista and now I need to restore everything from the old one. got most everything except when i try to restore program files x86 it says access denied?
I have been using Windows line of Operating system all the way from Windows 3.1 upto Vista and now Windows 7.
(1) There is one thing I always noticed that whenever I downloaded a program for Windows from Microsoft its size was almost always huge for example recently released free antivirus solution called Morro was whooping 150 MB or so comparing it with industry leading antivirus software Eset Nod32 4 which is just 30 MB download; My question is that when all the things like required system dlls, resource files are present in the Windows system then Why the hack Microsoft's own program for Windows becomes so huge like Morro? Is it that They just package everything in it and re-invent the wheel and do not trust their Windows system installed at the user side.
2)When we install any new Windows offering it is almost always around 6 or 7 GB full install size. But when we install any Linux offering it is almost always 4 GB to 7 GB full install with all the necessary GAMES, OFFICE PRODUCTS, SYSTEM UTILITIES, NETWORK CONFIG UTILS, PROGRAMMING TOOLS ALMOST ALL, MULTIMEDIA PROGRAMS AND WHAT NOT - installed in one go and they are now industry standard and very usable.
when we spend say more than 300 bucks for mere BARE BONES SHELL of Windows which is always bug ridden and comes with a high requirements and there in linux world we get the whole world for peanuts, WHY? Why Microsoft is paying millions to a army of programmers who are always just churning out a barebones shell Operating system with mere Aero and glass effects thrown in? Where is Utility which we are looking for?
I am using Windows Mail as my newsgroup reader. Even though I have the option checked to indent with > for replies, the program does not indent and add the >'s.
Ours is a home computer that is used by my wife and myself. Together we receive less than 20 e-mail messages per day. I notice that Windows 7 does not include any e-mail program at all, so I was wondering about the future of Windows Mail. Even Windows Live Mail is complicated for us "Old Timers". I guess I would like to see Windows Mail go on forever.
My brand new computer has a virus and I used windows defender to delete it and everytime it gets done scanning it says an error has occured and I can't even delete the program that has the virus. I'm really upset that to even get help with this, i have to pay 60.00 for "advanced support." Vista is starting to SUCK.
What email should I use when I convert to Windows 7 in a few days? I must be able to easily convert thousands of emails in hundreds of folders, many nested within other folders, maybe 3 or 4 deep. I have 8 or more email addresses that Windows Mail checks automatically. Is OEX any good?
I recently purchased a laptop with a 64bit Vista. I bought this laptop to help me edit videos and pictures using both the Premier Elements and Photoshop elements. I have is that when I'm working on Premier Elements windows keeps closing my program. I recently found out the PE 4 is 32bit compatible, not 64. Is it possible to run programs in a 32bit environment without downgrading my whole system to 32.
I recently upgraded to VISTA and discovered I didn't like Windows Mail because of the way the autofill thing works for the addresses. So, someone in this group told me to upgrade to Windows Live Mail. I did that and so far have been very happy with it. Except that, I can't find new stationery for the program. I love using cloudeight stationery and it was working on the windows mail, but not on windows live mail. I emailed and asked them about this and the following is their reply to me. Is this true? Is Windows Live Mail really Hotmail? I look forward to hearing back from someone about this.
all of the sudden (i havent noticed when it happend as i mainly use desktop icons) the programs have disapeared totally from the "All Programs". Most of the oem ones are there and i saw the thread to restore those, no biggy there, but the programs that i installed are gone now too, like Office, flight sim x, wow, quickbooks, etc. is there a way i can restore or retrieve those without reinstalling? i dont really want to go and copy shortcuts manually. the Programdatamicro softwindows does not contain Start Menu?
I have installed multiple games on my Vista, like Assassin's Creed, and when I try to play them, the intro plays, and then a message pops up that says that my game has stopped working and Windows is searching for a solution. Then this message pops up, Assasin's Creed Game has stopped working A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is abailable. I have tried restarting the game, reinstalling it, everything I can think of.
using this Windows Mail program to read messages in the MS bases. Where in the world is the internet files/cache/cookies stored now anyway? I've used the same method in viewing them for quite some time now, but using the same method after getting this new laptop with vista installed isn't showing me the files. I suppose that the files could be being handled differently now, but I'm not sure. So are these files STILL stored/accessed the same way?
Since installing service pack 1, I cannot find windows media player or the Media center. I have looked every where and when I tried to download it again I got the following message. There is a more recent version of Windows Media player (11.0.6001.7000) already installed on your computer. It is not possible to use an older installation package (11.0.5721.5146) to install files or to repair your current version of the player.
I can't even find it to uninstall it and then download it again! I have just found another post which said to right click on the desktop and type in C:|windowsehomeehshell.exe to create a shortcut. This worked but when i tried to open the application using administrstor option I got this message. Windows cannot open this program because it has been prevented by a software restriction policy. For more information contact your system administrator. I am the administrator and I don't know what I'm talking about!! Any ideas please???
