Apr 14, 2008After a few hours, I killed it. No errors, but no movement. Seems like a waste. I was only testing the conversion of an 8mg .AVI file.

Poor Quality Pictures On Web Sits
Jun 21, 2008on every web page i go on i am having to press shift+a to improve the picture quality, i have to do this on every page. its very annoying. how to i make it so i dont have to ores the darn shift key??? the grapics seem very blurred and not clear.

Movie Maker / DVD Maker Keeps Crashing
Mar 23, 2008I keep getting the "Program has stopped working" message with either of these programs. I have cleared all 3rd party drivers in the "Compatability" section. I have a recollection that Nero 7 can interfere with these programmes, but cannot find the article in the Discussion Group I cannot find any details regarding constant crashing of the program anywhere. I am running on Vista SP1

Mar 23, 2008I have premium vista and i've used movie maker to create a film containing only video. when i try and encode it to wmv (dvd quality) it starts ok then just hangs half way though encoding. So I tried to burn it to DVD instead - DVD maker opens and I made a menu then clicked burn. It starts and makes one pass of the encoding progress bar. It then returns to zero and says buring and goes to 0.6% before stopping there. Both applications are running in task manager and respond to minimize/maximise/close etc without problems. my cpu use is low and I have free ram. I have tried different media and slowing down the burn speed, all to no result.

Apr 12, 2008I am trying to install an electronic edition of Britannica. Previously, it took about 10 minutes, using 2 CDs on XP Pro.
I did a major upgrade for but did not replace my DVD, CD, Power Supply, or Floppy.
My board is an Intel DG33FB
My chip is an Intel Core 2 Dual (e4500)
I have 2 GB DDR 667 and one mal-partitioned SATA drive. The Vista portion has 167 GB.
Today, it took aver three hours to copy merely 329 MB of data onto the other partition using my HP 940i DVD writer. the program was not even half done, BTW I got several gray-out screens in the process. I could not do any other work because the darn machine hung.

I have noticed an svchost.eve process runs each time I reboot which seems to bloat constantly although when I close it down it only frees up about 800MB, what's happening to the rest of my 8GB??? When I launch Task Manager it says I'm only using 10% Memory but free RAM sits at 0?!?!

Monitor Wake Up After Sleeping Several Hours?

Internet Connection Suddenly Halts Every 24 Hours
Mar 23, 2008I'm presently experiencing a situation in which my Internet connection (cable Internet) will suddenly and inexplicably come to a complete halt. This has absolutely nothing to do with my actual cable Internet connection; everything with the cable modem is functioning perfectly. Instead, just about every 24 hours I will reach a point in which my desktop system (Windows Vista Ultimate) will simply shut itself off from the Internet. I have absolutely no idea what is causing this. In the past, I have been able to go to the Network control panel and simply perform a repair of my Internet connection. This no longer works. However, restarting the system works 100% of the time. So basically I'm left with a system that functions for approximately 24 hours, then it must be restarted in order for me to continue using the Internet. Then of course the cycle repeats itself. I'm not using any third party firewall software by the way, only Vista's firewall.

Dec 10, 2008Installed Vista 64 Home Premium SP1 OEM on Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5, and the computer immediately began to download and install 40 updates via "auto update". These updates did not affect the operability of Vista, HOWEVER the 2nd group of "updates" (there were like 4-5) completely disabled my onboard NIC drivers and I could no longer connect to the internet. There were no updated NIC drivers on the Gigabyte website for the motherboard. I used "System Restore" but the system would not allow the NIC drivers to be reinstalled.
This is TOTALLY unacceptable when you are obligated to download "Auto-Updates" and then they require a complete reinstall of the OS to repair the damage caused by the "Update". I was forced to completely reinstall Vista 64 SP1. I allowed the first 40 updates to install, then I disabled "auto updates". Anyone else have this problem? Unfortunately, I was unable to determine exactly which module created the problem - but I tried "uninstalling" the top five "updates" on the "installed updates" list but could not get the system to allow the NIC drivers to initialize/install.
Only Receive Email, It Waits In Outbox For Hours
May 8, 2008I guess I kind of receive email - about every two days or so. It went from a quick easy operation to agonizingly slow...I can only receive email occasionally and it waits in the outbox for hours. I uninstalled McAfee, checked the servers (working fine for everyone but Vista me) checked the ports (correct). What's next? By the way this started suddenly. It worked perfect one day - not at all the next. Was there an update that caused this? Windows DVD Maker Stops At 98.8%
Apr 20, 2009I have an HP Pavilion Media Center m8200n PC with Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit. The problem is with publishing from WMM to DVD using Window DVD Maker. The encoding process goes fine but once it begins to finalize (98.8%) the DVD will eject and then it gives me the message that it cannot complete the burning process due to an error but it doesn?t tell me what the error is. The only thing mentioned is to check the burner and make sure it is connect properly. I should mention that I have an internal LightScribe burner (ATAPI DVD A DH16A3L SCSI cd Rom device). After spending the better part of a Sunday afternoon I tried using only a LightScribe DVD and that worked but in the past I have been able to use any brand DVD.

The problem and resolutions page suggests i try disabling lmpgtspl.ax, which i have done to no avail. I can add in the individual unedited video clips without issue, but not the finished project. I can publish the project on my computer and burn it onto DVD that way, but i then lose certain features, such as scenes etc.

My ultimate aim is just to get my AVI movie files onto DVD (for playback on a standalone player) so do not necessarily need to use DVD Maker just thought it would be easier using a built in Microsoft app

I recently opened movie maker and all the folders and clips I've been collecting over many months have vanished. This is a nightmare and a tremedous loss of valuable data.
