I have tried several different settings and cannot get my monitor to wake up after sleeping for several hours. I have tried hybrid on and off. I have changed various settings in BIOS. I have made sure USB never turns off. I have changed the settings related to PCIe in sleep mode... Nothing works. I have a ABIT IP35Pro Board with an Sapphire 3850 Video card.

When the computer goes to sleep the LP3065 primary monitor won't wake up. When I restart my computer the LP3065 primary monitor won't wake up. When I start the computer manually everything works fine.

Like there a sleep button on my keyboard, but when i use it, it sleeps, dissconecting me from the net and etc so my downloads will stop.
Just want to be able to have a key that when i press it will just lock the screen of my pc and thats all.
I'm running Vista Home Premium SPA, 2 GB RAM, Firefox, Spyware Doctor, MBAM, SAS and CCleaner, Office 2007. I also have Spyware doctor installed on a Windows 7 laptop. Can anyone tell me (or redirect me) if my Spyware Doctor scanner (or any other scheduled scanner) runs when the computer is either sleeping or is in hibernate mode?
My Spyware Doctor history file suggest that it's been several weeks since the last scheduled scan, yet the scanner scheduler is set to run every night. We close the laptop cover each night and I'm not sure if closing the cover stops the scheduled scan from running.
When trying to enter sleep mode vista locks the computer and goes to the welcome screen. Event views shows "preparing for Away mode". I have had this problem once before so I restored the computer and it fixed it. But at this point I simply want to know what is causing it to happen. Bios is configured. Hibernation is off. no scheduled tasks. Bios is properly configured.
View 4 Replies View RelatedEvery time I open an Office application (Word, Excel, etc.) or Outlook, then Speech recognition seems to fire up. When I have my headset plugged in (USB Logitech headset & Microphone) I get a little panel appear which has a microphone icon and it says Sleeping or Try saying Start Listening. I have to close this every time. If I unplug my headset & microphone, then on opening the applications I get a pop up message saying Speech Recognition could not start with accompanying text of make sure your audio hardware is working properly and check your audio configuration in the Audio Devices and Sound Themes control panel.
Every time I open an application it starts, and I dont find that friendly. Even with the microphone plugged in, and the setting turned to Off, it fires up. Just how do I get it to go way for good (and be controlled when I want to use it?) any ideas? (On Vista Home premium 32 bit SP2)
i put my laptop on sleep mode,then i leave home while my laptop still on sleep mode, there is no wifi on air, and when i open my laptop on a place that provides internet, my msn masenger reconnect automatically, (even my signing in set up is not to sign in automatically after turing on my compter on if it was shut down).

What i have observed is, this normally happens when i am trying to type on my laptop keyboard, All of sudden it goes to sleep mode and i have to press enter to get it back. The frequency of this unusual behavior has only increased by time. I have already installed the latest display drivers, I have also reset my Bios to default setting. Nothing seems to be working.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI added a second monitor to the GeForce 7100 GS using a DVI-VGA adapter and for the life of me cannot get it to display anything, the monitor is just in sleep mode. I've got the latest driver, Windows is up to date, checked the cables, tried another adapter, tried everything but, still nothing. The second monitor shows up in the device manager and in the Nvidia control panel. It's enabled and set to extend desktops. It seems the system knows it's there because I can move the mouse over, but cannot see anything. The power light on the second monitor just flashes. I've swapped monitors over, to make sure there's not a problem with the display and it's fine. When I do that, the main monitor is then plugged in to the DVI adapter and then that one goes to sleep. Just seems whichever monitor is plugged in to the DVI-VGA adapter just doesn't want to work........

I did a major upgrade for but did not replace my DVD, CD, Power Supply, or Floppy.

My chip is an Intel Core 2 Dual (e4500)
I have 2 GB DDR 667 and one mal-partitioned SATA drive. The Vista portion has 167 GB.
Today, it took aver three hours to copy merely 329 MB of data onto the other partition using my HP 940i DVD writer. the program was not even half done, BTW I got several gray-out screens in the process. I could not do any other work because the darn machine hung.
I sometimes get kicked off the internet while I'm at home, while I'm actually on it as in not after "sleep" mode. My roommate doesn't have problems, and I haven't noticed problems elsewhere although I only very rarely use it elsewhere. I have started to use it just in front of the modem itself, without any other devices nearby.
It works again after I restart the computer. We had the key changed recently. My roommate used to get kicked off but then would just unplug & replug the modem, and she didn't have to restart her computer. I've checked with Gateway and they swear for some reason it couldn't be my computer although that seems fishy to me. Comcast can't see why it would have to do with them and to be honest I can't either................
i have only one monitor, and somehow it is being treat as though its the secondary monitor in a dual monitor set up. i cannot view my start menu, or view any programs being opened, as when i try to open them, they presumeably open on the phantom primary monitor. even when i try to open display settings, i cannot see the box. i am able to move my mouse to the left border of the screen and move it off into oblivion, and occasionally drag random folders and short cuts over to view.

View 4 Replies View Relatedmy desktop as usual, its a dell XPS 630I and Ive had it maybe 4 months total. I just checked my email and logged back off to the user screen. While I was gone it kicked into hibernation mode like it always does when noones using it. When I got home like 4 hours later I moved the mouse to bring it out of sleeping and nothing happened the screen stayed blank. So I waited and waited and it never kicked back on so I manually restarted it with the power button and it loaded to the dell screen which took alot longer than normal to load, right after that it popped up "Error Loading OS". I tried restarting and hitting the F8 button... no luck.... I hit F12 and tried running the diagnostics... nothing came up...
I put the dell cd in that has vista on it and hit the repair button near the bottom of the install screen and ran the different tests and nothing came up wrong. However I tried the memory test and it started I needed to reboot in order to use it. however when I did that it kicked back to the "Error Loading OS" screen. So thats where I am right now and I have no clue what to do, I am going to just do a clean install but theres stuff Id really like to get off this drive before I wipe it clean.
Our family has 3 laptops running Vista - 1 basic and 2 home premium. One of the home premiums will not stay sleeping. Sometimes I have to make it sleep twice or even 3 times before it will appear to stay sleeping. But the next morning it is no longer sleeping. I have to unplug the Ethernet cable to be assured that it is not doing anything on the web. How can I correct this problem?

...2 hours after I receive that msg. my pc restrarts....my windows detected a problem and needs to restart...
How to do the process is my problem..I have read notes how to uninstall my pre-release version. After I uninstall it what shall i do then?
I'm presently experiencing a situation in which my Internet connection (cable Internet) will suddenly and inexplicably come to a complete halt. This has absolutely nothing to do with my actual cable Internet connection; everything with the cable modem is functioning perfectly. Instead, just about every 24 hours I will reach a point in which my desktop system (Windows Vista Ultimate) will simply shut itself off from the Internet. I have absolutely no idea what is causing this. In the past, I have been able to go to the Network control panel and simply perform a repair of my Internet connection. This no longer works. However, restarting the system works 100% of the time. So basically I'm left with a system that functions for approximately 24 hours, then it must be restarted in order for me to continue using the Internet. Then of course the cycle repeats itself. I'm not using any third party firewall software by the way, only Vista's firewall.
View 9 Replies View RelatedInstalled Vista 64 Home Premium SP1 OEM on Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5, and the computer immediately began to download and install 40 updates via "auto update". These updates did not affect the operability of Vista, HOWEVER the 2nd group of "updates" (there were like 4-5) completely disabled my onboard NIC drivers and I could no longer connect to the internet. There were no updated NIC drivers on the Gigabyte website for the motherboard. I used "System Restore" but the system would not allow the NIC drivers to be reinstalled.
This is TOTALLY unacceptable when you are obligated to download "Auto-Updates" and then they require a complete reinstall of the OS to repair the damage caused by the "Update". I was forced to completely reinstall Vista 64 SP1. I allowed the first 40 updates to install, then I disabled "auto updates". Anyone else have this problem? Unfortunately, I was unable to determine exactly which module created the problem - but I tried "uninstalling" the top five "updates" on the "installed updates" list but could not get the system to allow the NIC drivers to initialize/install.
I guess I kind of receive email - about every two days or so. It went from a quick easy operation to agonizingly slow...I can only receive email occasionally and it waits in the outbox for hours. I uninstalled McAfee, checked the servers (working fine for everyone but Vista me) checked the ports (correct). What's next? By the way this started suddenly. It worked perfect one day - not at all the next. Was there an update that caused this? When I attempt to delete the program I go to (programs and features) after I open it is does not response and the cpu seem to be used High and all cores 100% busy even If I close (programs and features) the cpu still busy and never stops even If leave it for more than 3 hours - like what I did - and same proplem the cpu still busy! and this happed only if I open (programs and features) !
