whenever I insert my pen drive, or anything else, Adobe lightroom always wants to open up? All I want is for windows explorer to open up, not lightroom. I have set the defaults in the default programs for windows explorer, but lightroom still wants to open?

I want to change the default which is Windows Photo Gallery, to Adobe Lightroom 2?? Is there a way I can do this? I looked in control panel/default programs, but Adobe Lightroom 2 is not there? Only Windows Photo Gallery?
View 9 Replies View RelatedFor some reason Vista stopped using Google Sketchup to open files with the SKP extension. (It started using Adobe Reader). If I attempt to navigate to and open the correct program (Open With | Chose Default Program | Browse) Sketchup is not added to the list of candidate programs (no error indicated -- just doesn't happen). I can open a file from within the Sketchup program or drag a file onto the Sketchup desktop icon but can't open with the correct program by double clicking the SKP file. What am I missing?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a 2 year old Dell Inspiron 1520, which has a problem with the CD/DVD writer (TS-L632H). Everytime I try to either read or burn a CD/DVD a message comes up saying "please insert a CD/DVD in E Drive". I've looked in the device manger folder, there is no error message or symbol, but it says that the device is working properly. I've already updated the drivers from the Dell web site & still nothing.
Dell are wanting £120 for a tech man to come & look at it & a further £80 for a new drive if required, because it is out of warranty. I even thought about buying an external rewriter, but would like to try & fix the problem myself first. If anyone can help in anyway I'd be extremely grateful. I'm not a geek when it comes to fixing comps, but I am good if given instructions.
I recently installed Vista Home premium on my 1 yr old computer that wassuppossed to be "Vista Ready" the upgrade came as part of the packagejust not got around to installing it until now, I have adobe acrobat pro6.0 plus pro 7 upgrade I also have downloaded Reader V8.1.2 with all ofthem I get the error message the program is not working and windows willlook for a solution and notify me etc etc, I have gone to adobe's
website to try and find a solution to no avail or at least nothing Ihaven't already tried I have quite a few other annoying little problemswith it but will deal with them one at a time.
I ask because when I go into Programs and Features, neither of these are there. I do have an Adobe Flash Player 10 ActiveX and an Adobe AIR (whatever that is). I also now have an Adobe Download Manager which came when I downloaded the subject two programs. NOTE: The Flash Player shows as a plugin on Firefox
ALSO: The site told me to uninstall the older versions of these two programs prior to installing the new, but I don't have an older version of either. This came about because I was having a problem with a game that worked until after I installed the latest NVIDIA driver. The game manufacturer told me to install both of these as a measure to correct the issue. It didn't correct it BTW. Other games still work fine.
I just bought and installed a external hard drive. I am fairly knowlegable about computers but this is my first Ex. Hard drive and know very little about there use. So what I want to know is how to save my Family Tree Makers files to it. And once I do that how do I know for sure it is opening from my new drive and not my computer C: drive? I saved it to a DVD one time but when the time came when I needed it all that was there was a short cut but no files.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a question, I was wondering if it was possible that a virus/trojan or something else could cause my E: drive (DVD/CD) drive to randomly open? Because at points it will randomly pop open. Usually I notice this when I pick it up or set it down. I could understand if I accidentally hit the button picking it up but usually when I set it down Im not touching near that area. It has also popped open while on my lap.
Another thing I've noticed is even though I dont have a CD in the driver it will occasionally make the noise as though theres a CD in there. This has been a rather recent problem. I had a friends computer having problems so I did run a antivirus (A squared located under the free products). It did find some problems but said it deleted them. Im just wondering if this is a coincidence or if there is something potentially wrong because I'd like to take care of it over winter break.
Has anybody found any problem with this package in Windows Vista?
View 9 Replies View RelatedWhat would cause Vista x32 sp2 to all of a sudden not see my DVD RW Drive. I went to open it today and nothing happened. I checked 'Computer' and the device wasn't there. I checked BIOS and it showed as 'None'. The only option in the BIOS other than 'None' was 'Disabled' I opened my computer and checked the ribbon which seemed to be connected ok. After jiggling the ribbon and checking the other connections it now seems to be ok.

If I open one or both drives, moments later they will close on their own. This only happens when Windows is loaded (that is if I just boot to the BIOS screen and open the drives, they stay open), so Windows must be doing something that's causing the drives to close on their own?Note this is a fresh install of Vista, for various reasons we had to wipe the system and re-install Vista and the Dell drivers from scratch, there's no other updates (including MS Updates) applied - the Vista version is SP1 already though.

The 4 drives'icons display fine from Windows Explorer but all 4 drive icons are missing in File Open and File Save dialog boxes. Hopefully, someone in here has some ideas or a solution. Iron Man installed fine, but when we go to launch it, we get the same error box popping up, saying:
"Cannot locate the DVD-ROM"
"Please insert the correct DVD-ROM, select OK and restart application"
Then there's the OK button at the bottom
There's only 1 DVD for this game and it has to be in the drive for the game to run. The game just refuses to run. I finally sat down this weekend and all day today, trying different things, like cycling between the different compatibility modes, updating DVD firmware, tweaking the game's INI files, and Googling every damn thing I can think of to see if there any other solutions or anyone who's solved this. Nothing works.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm running Vista home premium 64 bit with the latest SP. I just installed an old game (Sniper Elite) and after installation it asked for a reboot. I did this and got the message that windows couldn't start, this could be down to a change recently made etc etc. It then said to fix it
1- insert windows disk and reboot
2- select language and click next
3- Choose repair my computer
I did this but when I clicked repair my computer it didn't show any OS in the box to repair! It just says "If you did not see your OS in the list, click load drivers to load drivers for your hard disk"
I want to keep track of the number of pics I have in a folder .. is there a way to insert text onto a folder icon, so that you can keep track of this? what i mean by this is actually inserting a number onto the folder icon itself, like "10". this way we would see the folder icon (along with the picture previews of whats inside the folder), as well as this number.

However, I always reply on top of a message so that the person who receives my reply doesn't need to scroll down to read the (latest) reply. Now, I have to move the signature from the bottom to the end of my reply, above the original message I received. Is there any way to insert the signature on top of a reply instead of at the bottom?
