Won't Load Iexplore.exe - 100% CPU Usage

Essentially, the computer in question loads to the desktop but refuses to display the taskbar or desktop icons. The task manager indicates iexplore.exe is using 100% of the CPU. Subsequent boots into any safe mode without the command prompt simply fail. Chkdsk indicates that the boot drive is still viable. The computer does not have a system restore point that successfully resolves the problem. I suspect that the issue is malware of some kind. However, I'm not entirely sure of my options, since I cannot perform a repair install (the user has no Windows XP installation disks).

when i ctrl+alt+del i see that the iexplore.exe and system are using all my cpu it seems that the system and browser processes are fighting each other

for quite awhile now both my computers but they seem to work pretty good although alittle slow. but when you go to shut them down, both of them a box comes up and says ending program where you can wait for it to end the program or you can click on end now. well it doesn't matter which you do most of the time the computer won't shut down. it just keeps going back to the end program box. It is always this program--iexplore.exe always that one. One time I looked into the task manager and it had like 5 or 6 of the iexplore.exe in the application part. anyway it is getting quite annoying. I ran asquared when this was happening and it caught what it said was a trojan (didn't write it down) I deleted it and it seemed to work for awhile. But now it is back to the same ole thing. Can someone enlighten me on what might be wrong? It is on both of my computers.

I am running XP,SP3.I have Kaspersky anitvirus, PC Tools spyware doctor, Lavasoft Ad-aware (free), spybot search and destroy (free). Recently I had my computer wiped clean, so I have had all the updates from Microsoft. I am now experiencing a problem with my Internet Explorer. It will open, either from the start menu or the launch. However, if I close IE, it will not re-open. Then when I shut down or log off, I receive numerous pop ups that "iexplore.exe is not responding.click end now. The # of pop-ups I receive usually correspond to the # of times I have attempted to get IE to re-open OR during my session of surfing, how many links I may go out to. I started looking at my task manager, and I am finding 3-4 iexplore.exe running! I have already run all my scans, including in safe mode. Nothing has helped. I am getting ready to purchase XoftSpySE after researching real time protection.I have done some research and have seen that others are experiencing the same problem I am having but have already done everything suggested that I have found so far. There is nothing on Microsofts website on this.

My friend, who has given a Dell Optiplex GX240 running Win2K Pro. 512MB RAM To help her out, I got rid of porn, viruses, and spyware using: Ad-Aware, AVG spyware and AV free versions, Trend Micro House Call, Spybot I checked the task manager, and has constant 100% CPU usage, avg memory usage The system runs, but apps open slow, so I tried some freeware reg cleaners: CCleaner, Eusing Free Registry Cleaner, Wise Registry cleaner.

I recently installed a winTV card in my computer, ever since that I have noticed that when I press ctrl, alt and delete, the cpu usage appears to be 100% full whenever I try to open an mpeg file I have recorded from the TV card. it is a pentium 4 2.8 ghz processor.

When I try to open Internet explorer, it tells me that iexplore.exe is missing,so basicly IE can not be opened.I tried to run it through start-> run , but he says that he can't find the file (C:Program filesInternet exploreriexplore.exe) I do have a internet explorer folder in program files,but i'm unable to open it.Normally,when you click on "Start", "internet explorer" is standing there too. Somehow I can't see it there.
When I click on the Internet Explorer shortcut, it opens a screen saying: Choose the program that you want to open this file with (Note: This will probably won't be the correct translation as it's a dutch computer).In this screen you can search for IE. By this i know for sure that it is iexplore.exe that is missing.When i do Ctrl-Alt-Delete , I can't see iexplore.exe running .

I am hoping someone can help! I did some disk cleanup and in add/remove programs, I deleted programs that, according to add/remove, had not been used in a few years and were taking up space. I did this b/c my PC was running super slow. (if anyone has advice for this ailment I will welcome all responses)Anyway, I inadvertently deleted my calculator, character map and iexplore.exe. I found a free download for calculator, but the other two apps I am at a loss for. I have searched for the files and looked under "all programs" and cannot find either one.

since today i've been experiencing quite unusual behaviour of windows explorer. After logon the taskbar shows up for a blink of eye, and then closes. Explorer.exe cannot be started from task manager as well (the same behaviour). Iexplore.exe neither.
I've seen some similar problems here, usually caused by malware, but I couldn't find anything suspicious on my computer. This is HJThis log:

I just noticed this problem, but I'm not sure how long it's been going on because I seldom use IE. When I start IE the process iexplore.exe starts up, which is normal, but when I close IE, iexplore.exe keeps running, which is not normal. If I start IE again it will start another iexplore.exe, so I can have several running and the only way to stop them is to kill them with task manager. Now another thing I have happening which is even weirder is I'll start IE, then kill iexplore.exe and IE keeps running like normal. I've run all the anti-virus and anti-spyware stuff I can think of and everything comes up clean. I'm current with all Windows updates?

I'm running XP pro SP2. I have a gig of ram and my mother board is an Intel D101GGC. My CPU is Intel Pentium D 920.
If I use Windows Explorer to go deeper than the first level of any tree, CPU usage goes to 100% and stays there. I've disabled System Restore because it wouldn't let me go back in time anyway and this program is a known resource gobbler. Didn't help. I've attached a hijackthis logfile to see if anyone recognizes a Trojan, etc. I would appreciate any help at all.

First my computer was cutting off in the middle of any program. I decided to delete everything on the drive and reformat it and reload windows xp. While trying to load windows xp it would load the set up but when going to load files it locked up everytime. I tried also loading windows 98, 95 and they too locked up. At one point it said I had a virus in my boot sector and at another time it said I had a virus in my RAM. I got a program called PC Beginner to help partition my drive and redo the MBR. I can partition the drive and format it but windows still doesn't load. Now I wonder if there is a problem with the mother board and I have a dual bios board, I was wonder if there is a program loaded in the dual bios that may somehow causing my problem. If so what can be done to clear the problem? How can I get windows reloaded?

1. My desktop remains blank without any icons.
2. clt+alt+del shows all choices except task manager - so I am allowed to reboot and shutdown
3. When I enter in safe mode cannot see desktop nor icons
4. Ran Norton Antivirus 2007 boot with CD - no virus found
5.Prior to crash desktop went RED, hence I rebooted and then the issues.

The IEXPLORE.EXE still reside im my PC memory after I close the IE window.
With task mamanger, I can see there are many IEXPLORE.EXE running. But, I already close all of them.
I ran 3 ad-ware, spybot, MS antispyware. Removed all the spyware by those 3 spyware detector.

PC was rebooted and this message showed up. I couldn't get to safe mode so I put the XP disc in. I got to the D:winint dir and tried to run bootcfg to scan for the boot file. It came back that it couldn't find it. I was able to see the dir's and data on the 2 drives. I ran chkdsk to see if that would solve the problem, it didn't. Do you think this is a BIOS problem or a missing boot problem. If it was the BIOS would I be able to read the drive. Looking for a fix without destroying everything.

My computer randomly started displaying this error upon start up a week ago and I have no clue what is causing it. I googled it and seen that it could be caused by a linksys wireless router, one was installed on the system before, but has been uninstalled for quite some time now. I was wondering what the difference was whether you had a program load at startup (by checking a box within the program to have it load when the computer boots) and unchecking that box but moving a shortcut to the programs executable into the startup folder on the start menu.

Click on ok to terminate the program.I got the above error message twice in the past two days after closing a site (I don't know what). I simply clicked on it and it disappeared. I have Windows XP Home Edition SP2, Internet Explorer 6. This is a Dell Dimension P4 model 4550. I recently removed some registry keys, files & folders for some old McAfee & Norton antivirus programs because I was getting antivirus error messages.I typed IEXPLORE.EXE in the "RUN" box, clicked ok and my ISP popped up on the screen. Should I be concerned? Is this a virus or malware? Tell me how to remove this problem.

I just formated my pc and installed windows xp pro and sp2 and the cpu usage was always under 20% now its always over 50%-60% with i installed the programs i needed. before I formated it was the same with high cpu usage but i installed sp2 and the cpu usage went under 10% but few weeks later it went back up, so i formated.

CPU usage is constantly at 100%. It started acting up a couple of months ago and I uninstalled all the software that I had recently downloaded (games etc) but still have this problem. I think this is also the reason everything just freezes suddenly for a good 2-3 minutes causing me to bang my head against the nearest hard object.Regarding this, in Task Manager --> Processes --> sort by CPU: CMD.exe is constantly using 65-85(keeps on changing) followed by csrss.exe at around 20-30

Out of nowhere a couple days ago my computer began lagging badly. The cpu usage is stuck at 100%, which the system process dominating the usage fluctuating between 70-95%. Now the computer will work decently for about 30 seconds at a time, then it will freeze for 45 seconds to a minute, over and over again, which is highly annoying. I downloaded ad-aware and it showed nothihng, and I am in the midle of a virus scan. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I dont know why this came out of nowhere. ADD ON: When running mcaffee virus scan, it s process jumps to the top fluctuating between 70 and 95. System tops off at like 20, but if I pause the scan it goes back to what it was doing before. xp sp2 I have a 3.2ghz processor 256mb graphics card nvidia 6200 and 1024 ram memeory the problem occured when i tried to open an avi movie file, i was moving the avi film from my downloads to shared folder but when i looked in shared folder it wasn't there so iwent back my downloads folder. when i tried to open or delete it a pop-up appearred saying the file was in use by another program, after a while i was able to delete it by dragging it to recycle bin. but 3 days on when i open a folder or firefox or an application the cpu usage goes from 7% to 100% and pf usage 550mb.

I recently kept getting a blue screen everytime I tried to restart my computer. This happened with my old computer and I ended up having to get a new Hard Drive. Well I was able to fix this problem by booting in safe mode and system restoring to an earlier date. Well now my CPU Usage is always running high, over 30% almost aways, dipping all the way up to 100% sometimes. This is when I have nothing system heavy running, I have Dual 3.2Ghz EE processors and 2GB of Ram.Well I was getting a similar problem last month, it was because of the trojan vundo. I got vundo off a couple weeks ago and no more CPU Usage problems. Well I didn't go THAT far back in system restore. So I did an updated Norton Scan, and updated Adaware scan and an updated spybot scan, still gettin the problem. It's doin enough that I cant watch videos with th epicture being jerky and sometimes it freezes my IE for 15 or so seconds.
