This little notice window is constantly popping up on my desktop. I close it etc., but it keeps coming back....I've looked all thrugh internet options, but I can't find a way to stop it.
View 6 Repliesboth my firewall (zonealarm) and my viruscan software (macafee) just stopped working, and i can no longer get acces to the internet or scan for viruses or block anything. and it wont let me restore any of my old registries either. anyone know what happened or hot i might fix the problem?

After long periods of my internet connection being idle (2+ hours usually), all programs requiring internet access are unable to connect. By idle I mean I leave to run some errands with no programs other than Zone Alarm running. My DSL modem still has all lights flashing and active. There are a couple other scenarios where this occurs as well. Ex. I'm playing WoW for extended periods but not using the internet through any other program, then upon alt-tabbing no other applications are able to connect to the internet even though WoW is still connected and functioning. Rebooting the router/modem doesn't fix it, but rebooting the comp does.

Works Ok after administrator account has logged on and established link.Our church wants to set up a computer in our library for visitors to use to access the internet. A hard wire connection to the router works with the Visitor Limited Account without the Administrator account being logged on. Running a hard wire CAT5 cable to the library isn�t an option. The computer�s wireless adapter is Belkin G Plus MIMO USB adapter. The DSL Modem/Router is a Siemens SE 567.
View 8 Replies View Relatedmy cable is not working properly.Every 15-20 minutes my internet connection is broken even though the modem is online and there is no problem with the cable coming into my house. I have to reset the cable modem and then it works for another 10-20 minutes until the next cut. Ive had this problem before (last time i changed computers) but cant remember how it was resolved. I already talked to my ISP support but these guys are brain damaged or something and cannot even comprehend my problem and all 3 actually concluded that i had somehow contracted some killer virus immediately after connecting my computer and this virus was the root of my problems
View 14 Replies View RelatedWhen I open my internet explorer 8, I go to my home page (www.Windstream.net), I am only able to see the top part of the web-page, above the green line. All the news clips and data on the rest of the page do not appear. When I go to www.MSN.com or www.YAHOO.com, both pages appear as they normally show.
When I go to my bank's web-site, and try to login to do my online banking, the pop-up login fails to appear.
Another example is when I go to www.ADOBE.com, and select the "downloads" tab, then Adobe Reader, the page goes to the right place, but the yellow bar asking for permission to install Active-X never appears, and the pop-up that tells me to click here to begin download never appears.I am running AVG9.0 (free version) and Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware I tried removing IE8, which put me back at IE6, but I had the same problem. SO I downloaded and installed a fresh copy of IE8, but I have the same loss of data on my screens. This happens in IE6 and IE8, so I suspect that I am over-looking something obvious.
I know this is most likely a simple question I cannot remember how to remove the informational popup that shows when you move the curser over an object on the desktop or any file or folder that fact.

to create their dialup connection to the internet, I couldn't.I went into the 'Internet Connection Wizard'. Told it that I was connecting directly to the internet. Then I told it I was going to set up the connection manually. But whenever the option comes up to setup a dial-up or broadband connection, the dial-up option is greyed out and unselectable.In device manager, it shows my modem as being fine. It's installed with no conflicts.
I got a Toshiba with windows XP.. Its an older laptop and runs slow.. which is fine for what i need it for.. It is connected through a Dlink Cable modem. Recently moved and had a DSL connection of 3 years no problems. Had to switch to cable broadband. The lights all light up solid no problem. Network cable connected to no problem. Problem : NO internet
Unplug netowkr cable from cable modem (get the network cabled unplugged in windows, so it is seing the modem or atleast talking to it)Tried using the windows xp network srtup wizard. I did that hub one (connected thourhg a hub) and i tried the direct connection (goes from modem to computer).

I have a number of XP computers (all SP2) connected to the Net via a wireless modem/router. Everything was fine until a few days ago when my connection speed dramatically slowed after being online for a few hours. This happens to all of the PCs in my home - so it's nothing internal to my PC. I tried to transfer a large file across the wireless network and it transferred fine (5Mb in 10 seconds). I can also connect to the router's web management software without problem. So it's not the wireless connection. Which leaves either my modem/router or my broadband connection. The router's "DSL" light is always on which infers that my broadband connection is OK. So that leaves my modem/router.
If it's not one thing going wrong it's another. At certain times when I'm online and maybe off-line also, I don't remember, But when placing the curser on a link and then clicking, I get this notice along with a clicking sound: "Hardware Malfunction" "Call your hardware vendor for support" "NMI: Parity Check / Memory Parity Error" "The System Has Halted"
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a built in wireless card in my Dell D610 laptop. Every time my computer wakes up it gives me a notice that it has detected a wireless network somewhere (even if it is secured or is very weak. This is annoying.
Can someone tell me how to stop this, or at least cause the notice to disappear after 1 second, rather than after about 20 seconds?
I am trying to fix my mother in laws computer for her. She had lost her Task Manager, which I have restored, and she has the Spyware Black notice on her desktop that I just can't get rid of. I tried a variety of fixes I have found. But so far, none have worked.
View 7 Replies View RelatedAfter running a defragmentation, I received a message that 6 mb of system 32 did not defrag. the system ran, closed, then when booted up the next day I received the windows 32 error. I have an OEM windows xp installed in the computer, a pentium III gateway, and i understand that common recovery proceedures cannot be used with success, because the OEM versions have embedded passwords and such. I have not heard strange sounds from my hard drive, previous to , and subsiquent to the problem. I wish to run chkdsk,to see if this can resolve the problem, if the OEM version will allow it. Is this possible, and the fact that I have a D drive slaved to the c drive matter?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI was replying to an e-mail when a message something like 'Virtual memory exceeded,microsoft can fix this' came up. I believe I selected a 'go ahead' button and left it to fix the problem. When I came back sometime later the computer was not reacting to anything so I reset. The screen that shows my hardware etc came up and windows then started, however, when the start up appeared to have progressed to the stage where the screen goes blank and an arrow eventually appears it didn't! It went back to the screen that shows the hardware build and kept cycling in that mode.

I click on it to have in installed and after a while the installation freezes. I tried to restart the PC... but could not do it. I had to cut off the power to shut it down. When I rebooted, I received a notice saying that my operating system was not genuine and that I would no longer be able to receive updates. I am one hundred percent certain that my operating system is genuine... but, what should I do now?
View 14 Replies View Relatedsometimes if i stop using a browser window for about 10mins, the browser seems to stop seeing the internet (until i reboot). this happens with both internet explorer and firefox. it brings up 'cannot find server' etc, as if i had no active connection. although all my other programs are using the internet fine, MSN messenger, limewire, download managers etc i recently reinstalled, im running windows xp pro with SP2 and all the latest updates. and have internet explorer 6, and mozilla firefox 1.5. i have an ADSL connection thru a wireless router.

I have recently reinstalled Windows XP home due to corruption of files but previous to that my internet connection did not work. However, since the install i have been unable to establish a continuous connection. It starts and stops for no reason at all. I have been online and it loses connection saying there is no dial tone. A connection can be lost/found for no particular reason.

It's been coming on slowly, but my connection to the internet, via internet explorer is extremely slow. I also experience long waits opeing new windows, or attachments from a site, as well as rply and fwd on E-mail. Once connected moving from site to site is normal speed, but as stated other openings take up to 2-3 minutes to connect. My ISP says my connection is fine, but I do get a connectivity icon on occasion, causing me to click repair, and it goes away.

I have my internet connected threw USB dirctly to my modem. Then i have my crossover cable plug into my Xbox and the other end in my ethernet port.. And when i trying to bridge the connections i get a error on my xbox something about the DNS sever i try to fix that but i think its because I am not sharing my internet connection.. This is the error i get when i try. However when i went to view all network connections, there wasn't any connection icon there. SO, i created a new connection and the computer asked for a restart to complete the process. After the restart, i went back to the "view network connections" place and there was no icon there. i repeated this process many times and still get the same result.
