I wanted to log onto a machine as admin and set the screensaver for all users to a certain screensaver.....MY PICTURE SLIDESHOW but it doesn't seem to be working. I was able to change the wallpaper, but I was told you had to do a registry tweak in order to do the screensaver.
View 14 RepliesI have a minor irritation. I downloaded a windows xp update and now when the screensaver comes on it takes me to the welcome screen to log back on. It used to just take me to the log-on. This computer is used by 3 people and none of them like this as it takes "extra time" to click on the icon and then type in the password. When I right-click on the desktop and go to properties, screensaver instead of it saying "On resume, password protect" beside the check box it says "On resume, Display welcome screen" It used to say the former.

I would like to enable the prompt for password feature when returning from a screen saver. However, when I go into the options, the only thing I can check is 'On resume, display welcome screen'. I've searched around a bit more but can't seem to find anything.

I've discovered that it's my album folders that have been tagged (most likely by me) to have a custom Folder Picture.I want to remove all the Folder Pictures from my music album folders. I fear I will have to do one by one (which is a LOT!) unless I can find a reverse procedure in the program I suspect caused this to happen. That program is Tag&Rename, and I suspect I accidentally added custom pictures to these folders when I was adding album art to the individual music files
View 10 Replies View RelatedI am experiencing pixelization problems. At first it would only occur at boot up or reboot. Now it is happening all the time which can be help somewhat by refresh, changing the desktop picture, and/or logging off then on I have tried, disabling the 128MB DDR ATI Radeon 9800 Pro using device manager. At first it was OK but at low resolution (VGA I think), but when it asked if I wanted to let windows manage the graphics it got garbled again. I have reset resolutions down to 800 x 600 using the graphics card but that doesn't help.

View 8 Replies View Relatedi've had problems with my computer background for months -.- and it's really getting on my nerves. i'd like to find a solution to my problem.. when i right click my desktop, click properties, click desktop.. and browse and find the photo i want to set, it looks fine in the preview but when i apply it, half of it is off the screen in the corner. i tried changing it to stretch, center, tile, i re sized the image to my exact desktop size, i also tried different resolutions and still no change! please if someone can help.. i've googled this Many Many times but none of the solutions worked for me, i've also tried multiple images... The one with the picture of a Windows 95 window on a white page. I figure the normal icon for pictures got deleted somehow, but I'd like to fix this without re-installing Windows if possible
View 4 Replies View RelatedProblem: When I try to work with a picture in an application the application crashes when the "my pictures" folder is viewed in Thumbnail.
examples:
1) From windows explorer when I go to My Documents click on My pictures and select thumbnail view and explorer crashes
2) if a picture is embedded in an email and I right click and select save "save picture as" the "my picture" folder pops up in thumbnail view and I get the error "ms outlook has encountered a problem...." if I report or don't report the error outlook crashes.
3) If I try to insert a a picture into excel...inset>picture>from file. The application opens the "my picture" folder in thumbnail view and then excel promptly crashes.
4) If I try to change the wallpaper on my computer and go to browse which opens "my picture" folder in thumbnail view and guess what...the application crashes. Here is get the error

I am using windows XP pro and MS office business edition 2003. I have a dell latitude d820 and I have recently have had the hard drive cleaned and everything reinstalled up to service pack 2 (service pack 3 eliminated that fax console which I use so I am NOT using SP3)
For some reason, my windows refuses to display the default folder icon anymore. I tried the simple fix of right clicking, properties, change icon etc. but even though i select the icon i want, it refuses to display it.

no display what so ever and system hangs. tried another monitor, same problem.cleaned some dust from my motherboard and ram while putting the card in.have i messed up the RAM or mainboard in the process??
There are a couple of websites I go to where I am not able to view the pictures. I am able to view on every other site. I have the popup blocker turned off, I have made sure to allow pictures in tools.

I am repairing the installation now, but I have no idea how to fix the problem if I can't see the screen. I have other computers at my disposal, but since I have no idea how far along the setup is (it is close to done, I think just setting up the accounts left).

In many applications, when I go to "File Open", I am presented with a default view of pictorial icons, rather than text listings of the files directory. This did not used to happen in earlier versions of Windows. Is there a way to stop this, so that I would only ever see a List or Details view, and never a pictorial representation of the files?

Regardless of whatever choice I make I always get a white background.Avast Anti-viruss scan found no viruses and 'Malwarebytes' found no malware.
