Since installing IE7 the open windows on the taskbar show the url instead of the website name. For example instead of showing 'Yahoo' it says http://yahoo.com. Is there a way to change this?
View 4 RepliesHad diffs yesterday with computer running at snail speed > did ad-aware/norton scans to clean up > now when I minimize any open window, the tab/s just disappear/s to the left of the lower taskbar so they can't be opened easily again. Must be an easy fix for this but after hours of research in MS Help + Google + your existing threads, haven't been able to source a solution.It happened once before but I can't recall how I got it going properly again - that's what age does to the memory!! Now when I have a PC prob & manage to solve it, I note the solution for the future!Would greatly appreciate any suggestions to solve this irritating prob.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI've just switched from 98 to XP. I find now that the window designations in the taskbar for my *browser windows only* are severely and unaccountably truncated. My browser is IE6. Even if there's only one window open, if it's a browser window, only one letter will display. Other windows will properly display the full name. I've turned taskbar grouping on and off with no change. I've also run the SFC utility, with no change. There is no such problem in my Win98 machine, and my security settings (and all other settings) are the same. I don't wish to upgrade to IE7.

problems.A few days ago it exhibited an error message "Initiated by NT
Authority/System - Remote Call Service terminated unexpectedly" in 60 seconds it rebooted the computer.The process repeated itself whenever the computer was rebooted.I found news messages that others had had this experience when a certain virus was active in 2003 and concluded that somehow I had been infected. The Microsoft letters on the subject have not yielded anything that worked.( http://support.microsoft.com/kb/893086 for example)
When i open any link with "open in new window" the new window is not full size screen window.Of course i dragged it by mouse many times and that should fix it later.It means it should be opened as it had been dragged,but that's never happened though i dragged it about a hundred time as a full screen size.What is the wrong here?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just replaced my old Windows 2000 HD with a newly purchased HD and installed Windows XP Pro/SP2 with all the latest updates from MS.When opened this web page by placing cursor on the line and click, the Google page appears briefly on the myWin.doc window but immediately closes and opens a new, different size window for the Google web page. In the old Windows 2000, the Google page remains opened on the same window overlapping the myWin.doc window and no new window is opened.

Unfortunately most are on the same disk and even have the same path.Due to the full pathname, what is shown in the taskbar is only the first part of the path. After the upgrade, when I click on a program on the taskbar, the window for that program does not come up on top of my current window, however the taskbar icon blinks orange. View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been having this issue where while I'm surfing the internet using Firefox, a blank window pops up and then disappears in the taskbar on the bottom. It's too quick to grab and find. I checked my running processes, nothing out of the ordinary. I ran a full blown virus scan with Norton AV Corporate, with all updates. I have ran Adware. with newest updates smart and full scan, PestPatrol (with newest updates), Aluria. And none of these has found anything. I even went into IE and Firefox and double-checked my plugins to make sure there are no strange plug ins which may have been spawning a process, and there is nothing out of the ordinary.

For example I often use four notepad instances which are grouped in the taskbar. I have to bring them to front and focus by clicking each instance individually. I was hoping there was a "restore" option when I right click on the group in the taskbar but there isnt one. Is there a way to bring them all to the front without cascading or tiling? (i.e. bring them to the front without changing their previously assigned position on the desktop)

With Explorer I end up hitting cancel about 10 times and it takes about 30 seconds and it asks me for a CD I don't have, I hit cancel some more, and then Explorer finally loads. With Word and Excel, I just hit cancel once, and then Word and Excel never do load.

I go to open MSN for example, it opens, but I try to do anything inside of that program like open up a new window and it freezes. I press end now and it doesn't close no matter what, even after hours. I minimize it, go to desktop, try to open a folder and explorer freezes. At this point nothing opens up nothing works and I restart.
