I have an IBM Thinkcentre running XP sp2 that will not allow a successful connection via RDP (no problem with VNC, Dameware or attaching via UNC). I do get the login screen (and can see that I have connected to the target pc) but as soon as I click OK it bounces me back to the pc from which I launched RDP. All firewalls are off. We do not have the same problem with any other PC in our environment.

My Firefox and Explorer cant connect to the internet even though my machine can and I can ping and get replys back from web sites like Yahoo. I tried to uninstall AutoCAd LT thinking that may be causing a problem. I cannot remove it because the system freezes.The system ran fine a week ago. Internet stopped working on system - noticed "search.iMesh" in address bar, with "IE cannot display the internet page" message displayed. Finally found and uninstalled iMesh stuff. 2. Now have Google back in address bar but unable to go online - even via Microsoft default.

computer would randomly lock up or say no signal on my monitor screen..I bought a new video card thinking that was the problem, it was not. I then had my brother look at it, people told me I had a virus from Limewire or nVidia.com and that I should do a full reformat right away, it would only do a quick one and it still didn't help it and when I tried to do a full one I would get an error that says I should put it in safe mode and disable components or something along those lines.I got a new hard drive, but then I had no mouse or internet. I installed my mother board CD. I restarted it thinking it would say new hardware found. I have reinstalled Windows and reinstalled my mother board CD, I tried my mouse on another PC and it worked fine.

In safe mode, spybot,i used ewiedo,smit,adware. i dont recall but i think spybot was the only program to find an item. When i rebooted in normal XP, i have been unable to connect IE6,Weatherbug,Widgets to my wireless connection. However Firefox is connecting pretty good,atlhough my wireless program is funny, its telling me there is no internet connection as i surf I tried 'internet options' such as resetting IE, i tried that scannow command. again, i dont have the system restore option to use. but also yahoo widgets are not connectiong nor weathebug.

She recently moved her desktop from the floor to her desk to get it away from the pet hair, and i made sure the wires are all in good condition and plugged in correctly. View 11 Replies View RelatedI am running a PC clone, Win XP SP3. It is using a wired connection to a router. Yesterday, out of no where, I lost connection to the internet. No browsers, Trillian, nothing that uses the internet works. I tried running a virus scan, malware scan and found nothing. I tried doing a system restore and it seemed to work, for a brief moment I had the internet again. Then, once more, it stopped working.
Right now, the current speculation is that the onboard network connection is dying. What I'm trying to find out, is if that is possible or not. I'm not worried about having to buy a card - they're cheap. I am worried about buying a new card and it not fixing the problem.Are there other things that can cause this to happen that I can/should look into first?
I'm setting up my friends home network. They have 2 PCs connected via ethernet and one laptop on wireless. The router is a wireless router / modem from 2wire. PC number 2 and the laptop both connect with no issues. PC number 1 is weird though. I can go to 192.168.1.254 and it opens up the router system page and I can go through and change and view settings. However when I try to go to any websites it immediately goes to "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage." I have tried netscape and the iTunes store and nothing can connect to the web. I have linux ubuntu on a Live CD and I can boot from that and it connects to the internet just fine.

And the new laptop with win.vista premium. Next is the linksys router which I cant make head or tails how to hook up. I called linksys and was asked to hold for a tech.that could help me set up the router. After fifteen minutes holding, the line is hung up by them and the phone goes dead. Im no better off now than before I made the call. And still not wired up to go online with the laptop. As for knowing which wire goes where I know nothing, 0, of how to place the wires. So Im hoping someone here can tell me. I went to HELP @ att and couldnt understand how to fix anything. Probably more fault being mine more than theirs.

My old computer is a Dell Optiplex GX1 Pent3 with a fresh install of Windows 2000. My brother had been using it with Win 98 and a dialup connection and all was fine. Prior to that I had it on a DSL connection. Now I want to get it back online at home where I have a cable modem and my usual computer with a DLink router.I know the router and cable are ok because I just had another XP computer on it.Nothing I do will seem to connect the Windows 2000 Pro to the internet . I tried disabling the onboard LAN connection(a 3COM 3C918 Integrated Fast Ethernet Controller and installing another LAN card but that didn't work either. I also connected it to the modem without the router.

Another oddity is that FTP connections in IE 6 seem to work fine.Through another forum, I found out that if I open a webpage through My Computer, it also connects just fine.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI have Windows XP SP3 and I did some updates two days ago: I allowed a java update that was hanging around in my lower tray for a couple weeks, updated my adobe to the latest version and I updated to Internet Explorer 8. After having IE8 for less than 24 hrs, my husband and daughter said they didn't like it, so I did a system restore to three days ago and now I can't connect to the internet at all. From the small amount of research I've been able to do here at work, it seems that once you download IE 8 you can't revert back to a previous version? Could anyone tell me if that's true? I can't even open the internet options tab from the control panel to see if there is a settings problem.
