When i turn on,first Windows screen appears, then a blue screen blinks, then hp screen, then a blank page with cursor on the top left, then a screen with the message"we apologise for the inconvinience but Windows did not start successfully.there was a hardware or software problem.I tried to run it in Safe mode, Windows normally, last known configuration but no luck......Then someone suggested to Get into the Recovery Console by making a Recovery CD with ISO image but the machine is not responding to any of it.Is it with CD/DVD ROM drive or any major hardware problem???...I ran a self hard drive test and it seemed fine

Can't Start XP: After Loading Screen, Blue Screen Stop Error

Oct 5, 2010

Toshiba Satellite running on windows XP

When I start the computer, it asks if for the choice of Safe Mode, w/ Networking, w/Command Prompt or Normally.

I've tried them all and if I try it normally, it won't get past the XP loading screen. It's loading and then it flashes a blue screen for a second and then restarts the computer again.

I tried pressing F8 at boot and selected 'Disable automatic restart on system failure' and this is what I get

STOP: 0x00000024 (0x00190203, 0x83306788, 0xC0000102, 0x00000000)

I even tried using this http://forums.techguy.org/6669592-post28.html to get to chkdsk At boot, F12, chose CD/DVD, but still nothing, I even tried disabling boot from +HDD, FDD and LAN from the bios setup menu to see if it works and this is what I got, it just keeps going on and on unless I enable boot from +HDD

Start Screen Inverted Upside Down / Login Screen On Everything Is Flipped

Mar 21, 2006

I was just typing along in a word document when my whole screen on my laptop flipped. File, Edit etc are across the bottom and start and all those things normally across the bottom are on the top - but upside down. The mouse is working backwards as well. MAJOR PAIN. When I restart it, the Windows screen comes up correctly but from the login screen on everything is flipped. I just use that computer for word processing not the internet so I'm hoping it is not a virus. I tried restoring the system

Welcome And Log On Screen At Start Up

Dec 14, 2004

Recently my Dell 4600 with XP would give me a welcome/log on screen at start up, which it never did before in the 8 months I have owned it. On the screen is my main and only identity with the icon that I chose for this identity. I am given the option to click the identity I wish to use or shut down my computer. When I click on the icon for the identity a message comes up for no longer than one second that says "loading profile", then the screen blinks, and it then says "logging off", and I am taken back to the main log on screen with the icon and identity name. The only way I have been able to get back into XP is to do a reinstall from the rescue disk, but each time I shut the computer off the same thing starts up when I power up. I have norton 2005 with the current definitions, I have used a few web based virus scan programs, and I have run several spyware scans to no avail. The Dell tech. does not know what to say other than I must have a virus, but I dont think that I do.

Hangs On Start Up After Welcome Screen

Dec 12, 2004

Windows XP halts and will not load Windows Explorer after the welcome screen An error message states that windows has encountered a problem and will close....Leaving me with a "Blue screen" I am able to get to my files only by "ctrl, alt, delete" and selecting browse at the task mngr. Or, I can log on as a guest where everything is normal again, but without administrative power. I have tried logging off the admin, then re-booting..no change. Performed a virus check, spy ware check, system restore, which is how this all began in the first place! I even tried re-installing XP. Nothing has worked yet. Ther are no service packs or updates of any kind on the system, nor is it possible.

Computer Will Not Go To Start Up Screen

Jul 18, 2009

When I turn on my compuiter it goes to a blue screen and says that a problem has occurred with my computer and that the computer will not operate because it may lose important data. It tells me that if this is the first time then to restart the computer but if this is happening on additional times then to contact someone. It talks about an BIODS (I think that is the initals). Then sometimes it will go to the startup screen but will not show any of my shortcut icons. While waiting several minutes for the shortcut icons to load it goes back to the blue screen that I just mentioned. My operating system is Windows 2000 and I have Norton Antivirus loaded on this computer.

Won't Start Blue Screen

XP won't get beyond a 'blue screen' since I attempted to update the IDE ATA / ATAPI Controller drivers. The update went as planned, until I selected the best version. XP then restarted my computer and a 'blue screen' appears refering to 'atapi.sys' as being the problem.I can't get XP started in any form of Safe Mode by accessing 'F8' during startup. The only part accessible is the Bios.

I've got an IBM R52 Laptop it's running Windows XP and is a few years old. Just the last couple of days I've been having trouble getting it to start - I get the Blue Screen and when I finally do get it going the System Error message. There are several such ERROR Events which say the source is Dhcp there are also some Event 57 ftdisk. If anybody has any ideas about what I may have done to create this problem, please respond. The only thing I can remember changing in the past few days is starting to use a USB headset. I noticed this afternoon that when I unplugged the headset instead of going to the Blue Screen again - the computer went forward as usual.

Stuck On Splash Screen On Start Up

Jan 31, 2006

I started up my system today and on the windows splash screen (the page on start up that shoes the WINXP logo and the blue scrolling bar below) The blue scrolling bar was stuck in one place and stayed there for a good 2 hours so I restarted and was greeted by the infamous ?Disk boot failure, Insert a system disk and press enter?. So I turned off my system and took the side of the case of and disconnected the SATA cable from the hard drive and then the power cable from the hard drive as well, connected them back up powered the system back up and I am now back on the windows splash screen. With the scrolling blue bar below the WINXP logo stopping and starting randomly now and again. I am going to leave it for 2 hours see if it recovers its self, anyone got any ideas if this does not work what to do? I have my windows XP disk and serial number so I guess its fresh install? Still what could have caused this as it?s happened twice now!!!! Could it be the SATA drivers I have all the driver installed by a shop do I need to install SATA driver for the HD or not could the drive be faulty?

Lag After Splash Screen And Start Menu

Apr 4, 2007

I have no specific reason pertaining to the problem but... about 2 months ago I noticed that just after the splash screen disappears, my desktop comes up completely blank, for (and I've timed this again and again) 84 seconds. With no apparent reason. After which the start menu appears along with my shortcuts and my lappy is as fast as ever!! I can confirm the following (and regular) maintenance activities performed before the problem.

My hard drive and Regisrty were both completely defragged and happy, I performed regular SpyBot, Ad Aware, Mcafee scans for the obvious, I ran Tune Up Utilities to remove all of my invalid reg entries, CCleaner for general crap, My system was optimised with PC Booster, as far as I was aware my machine was running sweet as a nut... It wasn't as if any of the mentioned actions were run close to the issue arising. It just happened one day.........

Stalls On Start Up Loading Screen

Aug 6, 2005

I am using WinXP SP2 and just two days ago the computer stalls at the loading screen (black screen says Windows XP and the blue loading bar underneath). It doesnt completely freeze but it just keeping on loading and never gets to windows, even after I wait for 10 mins. I have tried F8 and used 'last know good configuration and that didn't help'. The only change that i've made was instaling a new DVD burner a few days and it worked no problem after installation. The stall problem started after I manaully shut down the computer (press down power for 10 secs) when my computer froze from using dvd shrink. I'm pretty sure its not the software problem.. it should be hardware problem? Should I update dvd firmware? Is there anything else I can do to fix the stall problem?

Start System Log In Screen Freeze

Sep 13, 2008

this problem for a while now and ive been trying everything i can think off. Basically when i start the computer up the windows login screen freezes. I have to press ctrl + alt + delete to get the login box to come up, and i can login that way. That's fine just a bit annoying . Secondly, When i look through my files in windows, even click a file on desktop or browse the internet, the taskbar and my desktop will freeze. I can move my mouse, but cant click anything, icons, start menu, right click - nothing. To get it back i bring up task manager and close it, then i can click the taskbar etc, i have no idea why that works i dont close explorer.exe or anything . I've ran anti-virus scans with avast and nod32 (i only have avast installed), anti-spyware scans with Spybot and superantispyware and nothing was found. I've disabled startup programs with msconfig, defragmented and updated video card drivers. but it still freezes. Specs are beside my forum name, and im using xp home.
