Sep 2, 2006I have a new Toshiba satellite A105-S4084, with an Intel centrino duo. I want to remove a "Buy toshiba.com" icon from the start menu. How can I do this? It's easier to remove windows icons.

Jan 25, 2007I recently purchases a Toshiba Satellite laptop. I use an older version of Magic Tweak, and tweaked most everything I want. One this I can't get rid of is an item on the Start Menu "Buy From Toshiba Direct". It's located directly above the shutdown dialogue in it's own little category, below the Run button. There's no options I can find to remove this.

Removing A User From Welcome Screen?
May 22, 2005I have recently installed windows XP pro SP 2 on my computer. Is there a way to remove a user from the welcome screen so that no body knows the log in name of that user. Just like the build in administrator account which is not displayed on welcome screen but one can log into this account thru the classic log in screen instead of welcome screen (pressing Ctrl Alt Del) twice?

Jul 2, 2008I have a Dell Vostro 200 DC - 1GB RAM, 80GB Hard drive, DVD, w/ Windows XP Home. I turn it on and instead of opening my normal work screen (with icons etc), it goes to a blue windows "welcome" screen with my name and personal icon as if I�d returned from standby and it's waiting for me to log back on. I am the only user -- only my name appears. There are only two options on the screen: click on my name or go to turn off the computer. When I click on my name it starts to load my personal settings, then in less than a second it says it's �logging off� but then after a few seconds it just returns to the welcome screen. I have rebooted windows in safe mode, but to no effect.

Dec 31, 2007I was looking for a United Methodist Church logo that is commonly used and went on one of the UMC websites to see if I could copy it to my computer for purposes of incorporating it into graphic artwork for some t-shirts that my client wanted us to print for them. I found the logo and clicked on the outside of it and dragged my cursor over the image until it became "transparant blue" and sent it to my computer. I thought it was going to my artwork file, but instead it went to my desktop. The problem is that it is now permanently on my desktop.I cannot highlight it, encompass it in a box or move it at all. This image is not from the screen saver program. It's not an icon. You can't even click on it and move it around on the desktop.It doesn't respond to any right clocks or left clicks at all. It is permanently rooted in this one spot on my desktop screen.

When I start the computer, it asks if for the choice of Safe Mode, w/ Networking, w/Command Prompt or Normally.
I've tried them all and if I try it normally, it won't get past the XP loading screen. It's loading and then it flashes a blue screen for a second and then restarts the computer again.
I tried pressing F8 at boot and selected 'Disable automatic restart on system failure' and this is what I get

Start Screen Inverted Upside Down / Login Screen On Everything Is Flipped
Mar 21, 2006I was just typing along in a word document when my whole screen on my laptop flipped. File, Edit etc are across the bottom and start and all those things normally across the bottom are on the top - but upside down. The mouse is working backwards as well. MAJOR PAIN. When I restart it, the Windows screen comes up correctly but from the login screen on everything is flipped. Dec 14, 2004Recently my Dell 4600 with XP would give me a welcome/log on screen at start up, which it never did before in the 8 months I have owned it. On the screen is my main and only identity with the icon that I chose for this identity. I am given the option to click the identity I wish to use or shut down my computer. When I click on the icon for the identity a message comes up for no longer than one second that says "loading profile", then the screen blinks, and it then says "logging off", and I am taken back to the main log on screen with the icon and identity name. The only way I have been able to get back into XP is to do a reinstall from the rescue disk, but each time I shut the computer off the same thing starts up when I power up. I have norton 2005 with the current definitions, I have used a few web based virus scan programs, and I have run several spyware scans to no avail. The Dell tech. does not know what to say other than I must have a virus, but I dont think that I do.

Then sometimes it will go to the startup screen but will not show any of my shortcut icons. Just the last couple of days I've been having trouble getting it to start - I get the Blue Screen and when I finally do get it going the System Error message. There are several such ERROR Events which say the source is Dhcp there are also some Event 57 ftdisk.If anybody has any ideas about what I may have done to create this problem, please respond. The only thing I can remember changing in the past few days is starting to use a USB headset. I noticed this afternoon that when I unplugged the headset instead of going to the Blue Screen again - the computer went forward as usual.

Not Start Up Properly Loading Screen Comes Up
Nov 22, 2009My HP Laptop is about 4 years old, but still works great... until a few days ago. When i start it up, the loading screen comes up and finishes. Then it goes black, and stays black. I CAN however boot in safe mode (not safe mode with networking tough), and it works fine. I am also having problems finding my CD, but have the License Code. So a No-CD Answer would be wonderful
