I have Windows XP Home edition and use Outlook Express 6.0 My Brother has Windows XP Pro edition. He also uses OE 6.0. Whenever I send or forward an email with an attachment, he can't open the attachment. It says there is no file associated with it. I am sure that he doesn't have something checked off or something is checked on in his settings, that is causing this problem. This is frustrating for me because i have been sending him all kinds of emails with attachments and he hasn't been getting them. What would cause this to happen?
About a month ago my husband was having trouble sending emails. I would sometimes, but it would eventually work for me, but still not for him. He told me he had heard about the email antivirus scanners and somehow they block outgoing mail. So I reinstalled our Grisoft AVG antivirus without the email scanner. Now we can not send any attachments at all. Pictures, documents, nothing. I since reinstalled the email scanner since when trying to send I would get the message that a virus was attached. It still happens. It kicks it back along with about 50 messages telling why. Looks something like this..........
How can we post an attachment "inside" the message in this site when we post either a new post or a reply... versus just having the attachment as a separate item at the bottom of the message that the viewer has to click on to see it? I'm just dying to be able to do that. I have seen huge attachment such as "Print Screen" right along with the written message.

I have used Incredimail since 2002 (free version though I did buy the letter creator) without many problems other than slowing everything down. Suddenly 4 months ago it started to shut down when ever I tried to send a powerpoint or word document, which meant I had to use Outlook express to send any serious mail Error messages vary from the usual 'Incredimail has encountered an error... etc' to 'The memory cannot be read at 000011234 etc.'

I have developed a problem attaching and sending/receiving URL's. On receipt from a known sender i receive *.url in the attachment box and when i click to open, a window appears saying " Windows has found that this file is potentially harmful. To help protect your computer, Windows has blocked access to to this file." I have recently started using Microsoft Anti Spyware Beta version and am wondering whether this is having an effect.

You can easily create an icon on your desktop that allows you to compose and sand a mail by double clicking on it without opening Outlook Express.1- Find a free space on your desktop and right click on it on New -> Shortcut2- Enter in the space 'mailto:' (w/out quotes)3- Press 'Next' button.4- Enter in the space a name for the icon (i use 'mail')5- Click 'finish'.That's it.
up until a month ago I was able to send attachments with my e-mail. Now, when I click on the "attach files" button, it continues as if is attaching it then stops and goes straight back to the main e-mail page. No error message or anything!I've tried it with different attachments and I've tried by disableing the firewall.Again, this was working just fine up until a month ago.
When i send an email with attachment, my recipients could only receive the email message but not the attachment if they use outlook express. But if they use outlook they can receive both attachment and email message. As these users are of different companies i suspect the problem is the settings on my side. Is there anything i can set to resolve?

My operating system is Windows XP utilizing Internet Explorer and Outlook Express 6. Upon opening the attachment on certain e-mails from people I know, the following window appears and I cannot open the attachment!"This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the folder option control panel"I can find and open the control panel folder option, but have no idea how to proceed from there! Does one have to repeat this procedure (however you instruct me to proceed) with every e-mail that presents this problem?

For years now people have been sending me e-mails with ''wmv attachments and I haven't had any trouble opening them until a few days ago. Now every time I try to open one of these attachments I get the following error message. OE removed access to the following unsafe attachments in your mail: *.wmv''where the Asterix is the name of the file. Does anybody have any ideas what my problem is? I know I am getting these files from a trusted friend so I am not worried about getting a virus. Like I said, I have been opening them for years. I have no trouble playing the ''wmv files that I have saved on the computer.
XP Pro - SP2 - Outlook Express Sometime ago - some strange force compelled me to uncheck the box that says "Always ask before opening this file" for a PPT attachment. Now PPT attachments automatically open without the Warning Dialog Box. I have gone into Folder Options/File Types/Advanced/Confirm - made sure that the box is checked. Still doesn't matter. I have tried to attack this several ways - still no go. How do I get the dialog warning box back?
I used to send photos directly from "My Photos" folder using Outlook Express, and after I selected the photos, I was asked if I wanted to resize them, and then after I e-mailed them, the photos always appeared in the e-mail once it was opened (not as an attachment). Now I use Outlook, and when I try to send the photos from "My Photos" folder, they are sent as attachments, and they are not viewable in the actual e-mail. I have searched for a setting to change this, but I can't find any. Does anyone know how I can send multiple photos in an e-mail using Outlook, so that they can be viewed as soom as the e-mail is opened, rather than having to download and open each individual photo as an attachment?
I am currently unable to open a .PPS email attachment directly from the email.I get the usual 'This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Folder Options control panel.I can save the slide show onto the computer and open it from there without any trouble. I am running Windows XP Home, MS Outlook Express 6 and have MS Power Point Viewer 2003 installed.'' The preceding message was posted on 02/08/05 by BigBad64.I am repeating it here because it applies to me as well. However, unlike BigBad64, the solution suggested by Cetin Denislam didn't work for me.
