up until a month ago I was able to send attachments with my e-mail. Now,
when I click on the "attach files" button, it continues as if is attaching it
then stops and goes straight back to the main e-mail page. No error message
or anything!I've tried it with different attachments and I've tried by
disableing the firewall.Again, this was working just fine up until a month
ago.
I work from home and need to be able to email. A few days ago I started by getting Script Errors at the bottom of my pages anytime I tried to do anything, but read my yahoo mail. I asked yahoo's help desk for support and they had me check the java script and debugging, and try downloading updated IE. Now I it says Error on Page at the bottom of my screen and I still can't do anything. I can't reply, forward, compose, attach files, delete, or move messages.

Upon opening the attachment on certain e-mails from people I know, the following window appears and I cannot open the attachment!"This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the folder option control panel"I can find and open the control panel folder option, but have no idea how to proceed from there! Does one have to repeat this procedure (however you instruct me to proceed) with every e-mail that presents this problem?
My problem is.when receiving an attachment with E mail Outlook Express,at times I cannot open it.A message comes up.create an association in Folder Options.
Apparently i need to do this to be able to open the attachment.I am using Windows XP system.Can any one help please and tell me what to do.
For years now people have been sending me e-mails with ''wmv attachments and I haven't had any trouble opening them until a few days ago. Now every time I try to open one of these attachments I get the following error message. OE removed access to the following unsafe attachments in your mail: *.wmv''where the Asterix is the name of the file. Does anybody have any ideas what my problem is? I know I am getting these files from a trusted friend so I am not worried about getting a virus. Like I said, I have been opening them for years. I have no trouble playing the ''wmv files that I have saved on the computer.

Those receiving the e-mail say they get an error message that they can not open the program. The receivers usually ask me to resend as a Word Document. As far as I know it was orginally sent as a word document

View 14 Replies View RelatedI'm using Windows XP Pro and I open folders on my computer with shortcut like "Ctrl + Alt + "Letter key". To get this to work I created hidden shortcuts on my Desktop and under: Properties/"Shortcut" tab/"Shortcut key" Field. I added a shortcut key, by then pressing this particular "shortcut key" the folder attach to the shortcut folder will open. So far so good but once in a while out of the blue these shortcuts stop working all at once, restarting the computer ect doesn't fix the problem, the only way I found the shortcuts will start working again is by clearing the "shortcut key" field under Properties/"Shortcut" Tab then clicking ok, opening up properties again and adding once again the shortcut key on the "shortcut field" Why Do I have to keep reentering the shortcut keys on the shortcut folders for this to work? Any idea what can I do to prevent the shortcut command from stop working on the future?

When booting my computer the keyboard does not become active until windows has loaded. Hense I am unable to press F8 during the boot process and therefore cannot boot to safe mode. Whenever I send or forward an email with an attachment, he can't open the attachment. It says there is no file associated with it. I am sure that he doesn't have something checked off or something is checked on in his settings, that is causing this problem. This is frustrating for me because i have been sending him all kinds of emails with attachments and he hasn't been getting them. What would cause this to happen?

He told me he had heard about the email antivirus scanners and somehow they block outgoing mail. So I reinstalled our Grisoft AVG antivirus without the email scanner. Now we can not send any attachments at all. Pictures, documents, nothing. I since reinstalled the email scanner since when trying to send I would get the message that a virus was attached. It still happens. It kicks it back along with about 50 messages telling why. Looks something like this..........

Now PPT attachments automatically open without the Warning Dialog Box. I have gone into Folder Options/File Types/Advanced/Confirm - made sure that the box is checked. Still doesn't matter. I have tried to attack this several ways - still no go. How do I get the dialog warning box back?

and after I selected the photos, I was asked if I wanted to resize them, and
then after I e-mailed them, the photos always appeared in the e-mail once it
was opened (not as an attachment). Now I use Outlook, and when I try to send
the photos from "My Photos" folder, they are sent as attachments, and they
are not viewable in the actual e-mail. I have searched for a setting to
change this, but I can't find any. Does anyone know how I can send multiple

However when I follow the import instructions (after the stage where I browse to find them again) a message comes up saying that the messages are not there in that file (they are).The export/import of the identities and the message rules worked fine.
