Screen Flashed Out And Getting Only Blank Display?
Jun 4, 2006
I woke up this morning to find my moniter appeared not to be receiving any information from my computer. It was blank. I tried it on another compuetr and it worked. I tried another moniter on my computer, it didn't work. I have tried going in in safe mode but nothing. Computer is making all the right noises with all the right lights.
I'm trying to solve a video issue on my friend's pc with windows xp home. He just bought a new video card (Ati 9550 256mb AGP) and he ended up disabling the old video card in device manager. Now, no matter if he installs the new or old card, the screen goes black right before it goes into the desktop. He can hear sound, such as the windows sound. He went into bios, but there's no video options, as this is a custom built PC. He tried to go into safe mode, but that doesn't work..same black screen.
xp boots past the login screen, but doesn't display any icons, taskbar or start button. On ctrl/alt/del and task manager - new task, I can run some apps. If I try to run explorer.exe I get 'cannot find....path not found...etc'.If I run cmd prompt, I can change to c:windows and dir for explorer - it's there but size is 1008640 bytes. I rename it to .old and run sfc which puts explorer.exe back - size 1004032 bytes. Now new task - explorer.exe loads my desktop icons, taskbar, and everything else. This is fine until I reboot, and then the problem recurs. Each time explorer.exe is replaced with the bigger file.
Today i went on my comp in the morning turned it off came back and went to turn it on and it got all the way to the boot screen took forever at that screen then just flased a blue screen i did not install any new hardware or software. I am able to boot into safe mode so im not shure what is causing this. my system:
windows xp pro sp2 1gb ddr2 800 pc6400 gigabyte GA-M57SLI-S4 mobo Nvidia geforce 6600 512mb AMD X2 6000 Need any new info ask
so far i did a virus scan and tried restoring the system and that didnt help so in a min im guna unplug things i dont need on the system and see if that helps. Here is part of the code: 0x100e0001 (0x86ce4030, 0x85657e70, 0x00000000 one more code thats not on the pic,)
I have a problem with my computer, When i turn it on it sounds like its starting up like usual, but when i go to turn on my monitor the light just flashed and no picture comes on, ive tired unplugging it then a window pops up saying theres no signal so clearly the monitor does work, i also tried using a differnet monitor and the same thing happens, could i have a virus?
I frequently spot a pop-up window titled "Deleting Files", which appears for only a second or two. Files which are being deleted are flashed so quickly that I can't determine what they are. Afterwards there is some corruption, the extent of which I haven't determined, except that my Connection Settings for MSN9 Dial-up are clobbered, and I can't get online. I've been successfully recovering from this situation by doing a System Restore, which has been working well for the past two months, but I need to determine what can be done to resolve the problem.
I've been assigned to go through the computers in my school lab and delete (or turn off) the images that some students have set to flash on for a few seconds at start up. What would be the best way to do this?
Very similar to the following problem but i do not have a raid, and it seems that this PC has a raid and i don't, plus it was never really determined what the actual solution was.
The basics: XP Professional Boot up screen, right before the windows loading screen, or direct after the F8 Menu if you hit "Start Windows Normally..." it will just lock up, no HDD activity, blank screen. now BSOD, nothing.
All 3 safe mods work fine.
Ran chkdsk /r in recovery. Ran proper fixboot procedure.
Went into safe mode and checked the event viewer.
The only concerning message i got was: The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load: AmdK8 Fips nod32drv
Formatting really isnt an issue since i can back up anything i need through safe mode. However its just the fact that the Windows gremlin has struck me again and i must defeat it once more.
I highly doubt this is a hardware issue as it is more of a driver/software issue.any help?
When i turn on,first Windows screen appears, then a blue screen blinks, then hp screen, then a blank page with cursor on the top left, then a screen with the message"we apologise for the inconvinience but Windows did not start successfully.there was a hardware or software problem.I tried to run it in Safe mode, Windows normally, last known configuration but no luck......Then someone suggested to Get into the Recovery Console by making a Recovery CD with ISO image but the machine is not responding to any of it.Is it with CD/DVD ROM drive or any major hardware problem???...I ran a self hard drive test and it seemed fine
I was playing a game and I rebooted my computer. When i went to start it it went to the a blank blue screen before the account screen in the beginning of XP. I know i can restore to new but i will have lost so much information that it would take about 3 months to retain it all back. It says it can not find operating system. I need help in a serious way. all advice and solutions are requested.

issue seems to be similar to: http://forums.techguy.org/windows-nt...o-startup.html http://forums.techguy.org/windows-nt...p-problem.html but recommended solutions didn't help so far.

Hey my screen will go blank like it's starting up the screen saver after a few minutes on my PC. Then it will go back to what i was doing can i fix this?
There are 2 accounts in my XP Pro SP2 machine, one has admin rights, the other is limited. When I log into the limited account then log off, Windows does not return me to the welcome/login screen, instead it gives me a blank screen (my monitor, which uses DVI, gives me "No signal"). Pressing any key will not wake the computer. The only resort is to press the Reset button. I expect this to be either software or hardware incompatibility.
I tried to open an flv file in Winamp and XP froze up, and do not start up again except in Safe Mode. The XP splash screen comes up, but then the screen goes blank.
I was using MSN aquarium screensaver, and it locked up the screen. I rebooted and changed to pipes. This was ok for a couple of weeks, and then pipes locked up. Now I have changed to bezel, and the screen just fadeds in and out and then goes blank. When I try to change back I get a message that properties is not responding. Has anyone a fix for this?
Randomly I will get a blank white screen, or a white screen with vertical lines. When this happens the only thing I can do is turn the computer off. It has always rebooted successfully and no data has been lost, however it is a great annoyance. I have looked in the event viewer and don't find anything unusual.
I have the same screen described in the posts below, I tried to follow the same steps, but the same files (kvkruz) are not in my C:Windows, and the same items were not there.
When I open my recylce bin it shows nothing, only a blank screen, as if there were no files in it. But when I click to empty the recylce bin I get the delete confirmation "are you sure you want to delete these 83 items?" If I click yes, the little empty sound plays, but if I empty the bin again I get the exact same delete message. Why can't I see these files and why can't I delete them? Running windows xp with sp2.
Every so often my screen will go blank for a second or two and then return to normal. This happens whether I am or not logged onto the internet.I am using NVIDEA (whatever that is) and it says it is working properly. I also have a registry cleaner so clear the caches and temp internet files regularly and defray monthly.I have been logged on for 15 mins now and it hasn't (so far) happened but some hours ago it was happening every couple of mins. Could it be some other cache that fills up and causes this?
i keep getting emails with attachments ending in EML....i can't get them to come up....same with ones that end in .email. what am i doing wrong??? i click and then i clicked download & then run....nothing came up, just a blank screen. said there was no virus, but it still didn't come up. i feel like such an idiot! this is just a machine right? shouldn't i be in charge!?
One of my WinXP PCs all the sudden won't do a windows update. The Microsoft web site is nothing but a blank page. It says "DONE" down in the corner, but leaving it for 5 minutes it still is blank. I try to reboot, reload ,etc, but still nothing. It connects to other pages just fine. I did a view source and it does show html code, so something loaded, but the page just won't display anything. Is there anything I can do besides reinstall windows?
Dell Optiplex GX270 SERIES, 2.6Ghz, P4, 512MB DDR/SDRAM & 80G. Its more than a month i had blank screen. I am attempting to clean install XP Home to a (semi) new system.New mobo (PCChips P23G v3.0); new Intel Celeron D 3.2MHz processor; one new stick 512mb US Modular DDRII; new Seagate 250GB HD; -these are all upgrades to an existing case with existing 300W p/s; floppy; CD-ROM.Problem: setup loads files as normal, then reboots. When it comes back up and the GUI phase is suppose to start, it goes to a blank screen and nothing else happens.I have tried different memory, different (older) HD;I've tried making changes to the BIOS (new board that is suppose to be XP compatible, but tried it anyway. onboard video, sound, etc. No extra cards installed. Very minimal system); I've tried setup by booting from the CD, booting from floppies, xcopying I386 to the harddrive; I've tried loading an old version of Windows 98! and then doing an "upgrade" (actually a new install is the only option- it is an OEM version of XP Home, not an upgrade). I've searched MS but nothing comes close to solving this issue.I've built systems before with XP pro (and older) and have never had anything close to the problems with this one.
Computer boots up normally and everything runs fine until I try to right click on a file or folder, anywhere on the drive. The first time I do it I get the context menu like I am supposed to get. the next time I click on a file or folder the screen goes blank for a half a second and then comes back on and has to reload the programs in my systray. I have already run my nortons AV and it finds nothing. Can't complete a scan from trend micro but it doesn't say it found anything (hangs prior to summary page). pandas active scan finds nothing. Adware finds nothing. Also if I highlight a folder or file and push the delete key, have the same results. Only deletes every other time the key is pushed.
Intermittently the screen reamins blank at start up. I then need to turn th PC off an then on again. Sometimes the scrren come on sometimes it takes a number of OFF/ON's. MAchine is also now starting to reboot by itself. Have used Nortons to check for Virus's.
I have been having a boot up issue on my compaq presario sr1630nx. When I turn on the computer now it takes me to the boot screen where I press F2 and the little dash up in the corner flashes for a second or two...disapears...and then nothing...black screen. I then have to turn the computer off manually but when I turn the computer on again and it goes to the boot screen and I press F2 again and it takes me to the default start windows normally prompt.
I hit enter and then it boots up like normal and everything is fine with the world and my computer runs just fine until the next time I turn it off and have to turn it on again. Same routine at every boot. Was wondering if the brown out may have corrupted my boot.ini file somehow and if so how to fix it. My computer was on when the power spiked twice in a two minute period then was off for a couple of hours so it could be a hardware issue as well. I have Windows xp home edition
when he turns it on, it shows the HP logo with the F1 for Setup and such, then it goes straight to a blank screen with a cursor flashing. it's a boot sector problem. I just need to get him booted up so I can do some scans.
For some reason, sometimes when I start my computer, after having put it in hibernation, the screen is blank. This is as if the video card has put the monitor in standby or something. Sometimes a wake-up event, like the mouse and keyboard will fix it, but often it doesn't. In that case, I have to CTRL-ALT-DEL, then feel my way to the "restart" (and because Firefox always hangs when it quits, I have to guess when the "End Now" button comes up).
