When my computer is checking the drives after i restart my comouter by hitting the "reset" button on the CPU, it runs halfway and gives some errors. But the scanning does not complete.
The last line in the display says :

I had some viruses and in my process of cleaning, I believe the auto dowload feature kicked in for Windows service pack 3. Once it loaded, I ran RegiCure and a host of other virus or regi conflict software. The following message appears when I try to boot Excel or Word. "The application or DLL C:Program FilesMicrosoft OfficeOfficeMSO9.DLL is not a valid Windows Image.Please check this against your installation diskette."So at the moment, I can't boot Excel and Word. IS there a known Excel & Word conflict with service pack "3"?
View 7 Replies View RelatedA few days ago I started getting registry problems, applications not wanting to startup right and ect. Then it was followed by shortcuts crapping out on me. When I clicked on the shortcut to see what was wrong it said there was a .LNKtx problem with the .exe or somethign to that notion. I can bypass that problem fairly easily without a fix, however when I do that and load somethign such as a game it will cause the CPU to either a) shutdown program or b) make cpu crash and restart.

View 10 Replies View RelatedOn boot up the process seems normal through the Microsoft "Welcome" screen and start up music. Then the Blue screen of Death appears. Only the mouse pointer is visible. After approximateyl 45 to 60 seconds of this the boot completes and the desktop appears with the icons. This happens maybe twice out of 10 boots.

View 6 Replies View Relatedthe problem is that whenever caps lock, num lock, or scroll lock is pressed my keyboard goes into caps lock. my keyboard doesnt show this and i cant get out of capslock. whenever one of these buttons is pressed then the treo of lock leds lights up and then quits. after that to type in lowercase i have to hold the shift key.

Anyway, I go to turn my PC on and it gives me the "Loading Windows XP" screen but then just goes black, and Windows doesnt load...So I turn off and then on again. I load it up in safe mode, then restart again - without changing anything. The computer then restarts as normal - As if nothing had happened. Which is good - but whenever I turn it off i seemingly have to go through this entire procedure again
I've long made good use of the ability to search for files in my computer running Windows XP Professional by providing the Search Companion with "All or part of the file" or "A word or phrase in the file," but the Search Companion has suddenly begun behaving strangely. Sometimes when I run a search now it claims it found no files at all matching my criteria even though I know such files exist, and other times it lists some or all of the files it found multiple times (yes, with multiple listings of a single file within a single folder). And when it says it found results now, too, some of the files it lists appear in blue rather than the customary black.

View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter a catalogue of other mistakes and errors, I've found myself in the following situation which I'm hoping one of you might be able to help with... I somehow managed to mess up my partitions so that when I used the Windows XP boot CD, it seemed to think there were two partitions, one which was unpartitioned space and another which was available. The unpartitioned space was actually my main XP partition with my current windows installation and all my files on it etc.
So - and this may have been a very silly thing to do - I went into recovery console and issued a 'fixboot' command. It succesfully did the fixboot, but then it didn't sort out my partitions. Now when I try to boot my computer, it keeps giving me the NTLDR Missing message.
all tabs (Tables or whatever they are called) with all the different programs show in three columns.
But I have more than that and they don't show all ( have XP).
I remember I think in Win 98, I could go into Explorer/Filemanager, then move Programs around into Main Folders in the START folder or a folder of my choosing and make the columns shorter. I don't find where I can do this in XP. I tried as Adminstrator, myself, Guest, nothing works. XP just keeps the way it has decided to show them. I want Office:and its programs, Utilities with its programs, Graphics, Organizers, Toshibastuff, Webstuff, etc, all similar programs in a subfolder to choose from, instead of having to open Explorer to find them, because Windows own Tables don't show them all.
When I start the computer, I get a screen freeze and have to press Ctrl,Alt,Del once before any programs will startup. A lot of probs with internet connection and slowness while surfing as well as a lot of pop up ads in my face.
There are system boxes coming up with registry and dll errors and the whole system seems SLOW.
My laptop doesn't detect the external hard drive. It is strange that sometime the laptop can detect the external hard drive, but most of the time it doesn't.
I have tested 2 different external hard drive and both of them are not detected by the laptop too. When I tried it on other computer, both external cases work perfectly. I am not sure is it because of the usb driver is corrupted or what, but any helps is much appreciated. Thank you.

I am unable to get the 'default' welcome screen upon start up and am getting the logon box where you type in a username and passworld. I know how to get rid of this, user accounts>enable welcome screen - but it will not solve the problem.This is just the start of the problems. View 6 Replies View Relatedi have xp sp2 160 gb hdd with 4 partitions. c ,d,e and f (all ntfs). whenever i start or restart, a scandisk starts in f drive which is 100gb. it copletes step 1 and step 2. but it gets stuck at 0% in the third step without any message. no errors are shown in the first two steps. so i have to cancel the scannings everytime. even i installed a new os in the d drive even that is showing the same thing.
