View 5 RepliesI seem to have a problem opening links in my emails.I have already followed 2 different procedures with no success.
It apears that a file is missing, this why I think a file is missing:
opened Windows Explorer
Tools|Folder Options|File Types
Scrolled down and tried to find....URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol
Underlined links won't open when clicked on. This has happened before and I can't remember the solution. It is on the Internet that I have this problem.

View 6 Replies View RelatedThe issue is that on web pages with multiple frames, if I click a link in one frame that is supposed to open in another frame, it opens full-page instead. This began occuring after I installed the monthly Windows Security Update in June.It is machine independent as it affects all 3 of my machines. All 3 are running XP SP 2. It is browser-independent as it happens in both IE and Firefox. It is webpage/app-independent, also. This happenes on many different sites, not just one.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to open web links and file links in any of the Office 2003 products, for example Outlook. I click the link to open it, and an error message appears: This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhenever i try and click on a program or open anything an error message comes up saying. windows explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. The only thing i can go on is the internet and things on my desktop. I also have a problem as sometimes my computer crashes and a blue screen appears.
When I click the 'my computer' icon in windows xp it takes a while to load, upwards of 20 seconds to display my hdds etc. I made some changes to services.msc last week in an attempt to speed up my machine, any thoughts on something I may have disabled which would result in this?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI double click on a Jpeg it opens in Windows Paint instead of the Windows Fax and Picture viewer as it has always done.BMP and GIFS still open correctly When I check under properties it states that Windows Picture and Fax viewer is the programme it opens with and that is highlighted in the drop down column. I can open them when I use the right click drop down menu and select preview, then it will open in the viewer. I have ran Norton Antivirus, spybot, Ewido, adaware. I have tried changing the Jpegs to open with paint, then changing it back again, still won't budge.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm running XP home SP2. I have MS Office 2003 with all updates. The problem I'm having is when I double click on any MS office file (powerpoint, word, excel, etc), it takes about 1-3 minutes to open. When I look at the task manager, the CPU is 99% idle and no task appears to be using many resources. It's not the anti-virus SW because I've removed it from the system and still have this problem. It's also not network related because I've removed it from all networks and still have the problem. If I open the program that the file is associated with (ie MS word for a *.doc file) and then select file/open, it opens fine. I don't think it's just a MS office problem, because the same thing occurs when I try to click on a weblink within a document or application. It takes 1-3 minutes for IE explorer to open and go to the web page. I think it may be due to some security patch, but I don't know which one.
View 5 Replies View RelatedYou can easily create an icon on your desktop that allows you to compose and sand a mail by double clicking on it without opening Outlook Express.1- Find a free space on your desktop and right click on it on New -> Shortcut2- Enter in the space 'mailto:' (w/out quotes)3- Press 'Next' button.4- Enter in the space a name for the icon (i use 'mail')5- Click 'finish'.That's it.

View 8 Replies View RelatedWhen I click on a Word document (on my Desktop, for example), it seems to take a long time for the document to open. Yet if I have Word open and click on the document it opens instantaneously. Similarly, when I right click on a document, photo, spreadsheet file, it takes what seems a long time for the menu (Open, Run as, Send to, Delete, etc..) to open.

Somebody told me its a bug in Windows where you clicked only once, but Windows think you have double clicked.

Is it possible I have some type of virus that is causing this multi-clicking of the mouse when I only click once. I did a full system scan with Norton and nothing is found.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI recently experimented with the desktop alternatives and ended up with larger than wanted Links bar icons.
How can I reduce the size of these icons?
Nothing I've reversed has helped.
Thanks, Bob
This is so strange. For some reason I can't click on any link sent to me in an email (I use Outlook Express) or in a messenger program like MSN or Yahoo Messenger. it seems to be any link that would open a new window when clicked on.It was working fine this morning, but now I can't, even though I've restarted several times. All I've done on my PC today is remove a bit of spyware with X-Cleaner, and installed Windows Media Player 10. I've tried doing a System Restore back to this morning but it's had no effect. Does anyone have any ideas why this is?I'm on a laptop with a touchpad, but everything else is working fine.

I'm running XP Pro, and just did a clean reinstall. I've been using AVG free for years, but this time it's preventing me from using the links in my emails. I went into AVG, couldn't find anything to correct the problem, so I turned off the email scan.Is there any other good free antivirus programs that won't muck up my computer?

Well if you're like me, you probably have tried to delete the "Links" folder in your favorites, and then come to find out that when you restart the "Links" folder is still there. Well if you follow these directions you will not have that problem again.1. Start regedit, navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftInternet ExplorerToolbar 2. Locate the string "LinksFolderName", right click on it and select modify and set the value to a blank string. 3. Exit regedit 4. Now delete the Links folder.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI had a little play and disabled Flash in an attempt to speed up my page loading. (It seems to have worked.)However, now when I click on a link, I have to do so twice to get the page to load, (new window.)I have run Spyware Blaster and unchecked the kill bit as I was unable to get any links to work, but now I need to click the link twice, (the first time the page only part appears.) Not doubleclick, but actually click the link a second time as the page refuses to fully appear.I even System Restored it earlier, but then I could not get online atall, so rolled it back again.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI went through the problem stated by Joephilippa and my problem of similar kind. To be more specific...... All the related links in the Help and Support are not working. For example: To display system data
1. Open System Information
2. Double-click a category in the category tree, and then click an item to display its information in the details pane.
When I click System Information , nothing happens except that note sigh ( ...) apears repeatedly. Please see the attachment also. I have no idea what went wrong.
Most, but, no all links return we to the windows XP start (desk top) when clicked. This just started after the automatic security download by Microsoft.I am very weak on software fixes. Is there something I can do to correct this problem.
