No More Windows Updates?
Jan 3, 2008for some unknown reasons i don't succeed to install the updates from windows update, i'm attaching the message that I usually get.my PC is an original laptop with original XP. so i don't get it.

Sep 18, 2006Hi i have just got a second hand computer and when i turned on and connected to the net i got a message saying updates available. i click install then got a message saying this may be counterfeight copy of xp. when i start computer i get the message at the sart then its at the bottom of the screen and in bottom task bar .the computer works great otherwise can i get rid of these messages thanks or is it the bin .

Jan 28, 2008recently i had some virus problems and i had to make a repair install and a lot reg fixes and such and i wanted to download all windows updates (critical and security) because the repair install left me with fresh SP2 installation .i downloaded IE7 and when it started downloading security updates a window popped up to notify me that all updates FAILED then i went and tried to download the updates the regular way , first file was Windows Installer 3.1 but it failed also so i went and did download it manually from Microsoft website and after the install i went and opened the update screen again and i could see Tons of critical and security updates waiting i pressed DOWNLOAD just to see the window pop up that all the updates failed I'm so desperate now since my PC is soo vulnerable for attacks and hackers and all what can come to your minds
so i this problem caused by the repair install or some key missing in the registry or by some hidden Stupid virus ?i do use Kaspersky 7 / Zonealarm pro / winpatrol / spyware blaster but i feel something is not right.

Jul 4, 2008i have sp3 for windows xp but i cannot download any updates for some reason. It just says "updates failed to download" both that yellow icon at the taskbar and explorer way of downloading the updates fails. what is going on? how can I fix this? is there another way to download these updates?

I also am unable to search for anything that I put in a search bar like google or msn search. If I type the search criteria in the search box and press GO or the GOOGLE SEARCH button, nothing happens. The word just sits there like the buttons no longer work. I also tried downloading MS Antispyware and the system would not validate. I tried downloading the online virus scanner from Trendmicro.com and when I went to select United States as my download country and pushed the button next to it to submit my choice, nothing happened.

Jun 4, 2005I updated Windows for several critical updates and drivers and now cannot access the Internet. Just keeps coming up with Cannot Find Server. Do you need one of the HiJack logs? or other information to help me. I need the pc for my homework. I have installed this update at least 5-6 times in the last 2 days. I have just realized that this is the same update. I install, and 3 minutes later the icon is back telling me to install-Microsoft Security Bulletin MS07-042 - Critical Vulnerability in Microsoft XML Core Services Could Allow Remote Code Execution (936227). I have restarted the computer after each install, but this has not solved the problem.I am running XP PRO/SP2. Aug 22, 2007Did a repair install, everything is working except windows updates, it says I have updates and I can click on custom and it shows them when I click to install them it acts like it will then a box comes up and say they all failed. I turned off auto updates and went to the site and click on custom and they came up but the same thing won't install did it with express install to and its the same,. My next step was to download updates from MS windows updates. That is when something odd happened, I clicked on IE icon it opened up and said page could not be loaded (MSN default). I am using a wireless network and can access Windows up date from my HP computer with no problem. On the Gateway I can go to other sights except microsoft.

Jan 13, 2005I have an issue with my computer taking a very long time to shut down. First it takes a long time after i press shut down in the start menu, for the pop up of choices (restart, log off etc) to appear. Then when I make a choice, it takes a very long time again to actually shut down. I have tried downloading windows updates lately as well and i keep getting error message "0x80248011". I have been working with Microsoft Tech Support (via the telephone)for several days now and we haven't been able to correct the problem(s). When I go to Turn Off Computer, the "Turn Off" button has changed, indicating that when I hit it, it will install the updates. There's also a field I can click which will Turn Off without installing the updates. When I click the Turn Off buttion, it attempts to install two updates. It doesn't appear to be successful. Every time I Turn Off Computer it apparently tries to install the same two updates. I can reboot and do this over and over and they don't "take".There's nothing in Event Viewer to indicate what's going on. I couldn't find any installation logs though I'm not sure where to look.
