Extra Item In My Documents In XP - Bar Titled "Music Tasks
Mar 6, 2005When I click on My Documents and it opens, there is a bar titled "Music Tasks" - with a music note on the left of it that appears in My Documents folder above the "File and Folder Tasks" Bar (all in the upper left corner of My Documents Folder. This Music Tasks bar has a drop-down menu of "Play All" and "Shop for music online". I don't know how I managed to get it there, but I would like to remove it. Can anyone give me a clue

Dec 7, 2008Every music folder in My Music after C (cameo!) has disapeared although I know they are still there - i can still play them in itunes and even open the song folder but if I copy it and drop it back into My Music it vanishes. Windows doesn't even recognise the memory that the missing files use and thinks the folder holds 3 gigs when its more like 30. Just wondering if there is anything I can try before going through the hassle of reformating.

At startup, the Compaq boot screen ( boot, setup, system recovery) options. appears and hangs there for 4 minutes before windows welcome screen loads.
I have tried using msconfig and went through and unchecked everything, just to see. Still have same problem. I contacted HP, however they could offer no help.

Mar 5, 2007I added a 512mb stick and 500gb hard drive to an AMD 1.7mhz system that was running fine but just out of disk space (figured as long as the chassis was open to throw in the ram too). Now I can barely use the darn thing. Runs extremely slow. Audio and video and useless, responses are crazy - even the mouse is herky-jerky. Went into taskmanager and there is one program that seems to be using a lot of processor time but I alway have that one running even in the 'old' configuration. I can kill it and it helps a little bit but why should more resources make things worse. I have AVG running for virus checking and regularly run adaware and spybot for malware checking. Checked system settings and everything looks fine there as well - cache, VM, performance, etc. all set to normal levels (768mb by the way).

In Disk 0, it shows the three partitions (I've no clue why there are 3, is that standard?)39 MB FAT, 69.81 GB NTFS, and 4.64 GB FAT32.This happened after a failed software install that dell refused to help with (there's a shocker)It's just an annoyance, nothing more, but I would like to get it back to being just the c drive without risking losing anything in the process. In the programs folder there is common files and windows media player. in the documents and settings folder, there is defaut user, local service and networkservice. Adding An Extra 1GB Or Should I Wait Until Vista
Aug 12, 2006I have 1 memory slot left in my motherbaord and it supports a maximum of 1GB in that slot - I have used the previous 2 with 1GB in each channel running as dual channel memory.
Can Windows XP MCE 2005 work with more than 2GB of memory? I heard that XP with more than 2GB of memory is like Me with more than 512MB. Under Me when I used more than 512MB RAM (768MB) it worked but after performing intensive tasks I has incredibly slow performance to the point where the system almost grinded to a halt!! I wouldnt even dare make full use of the 1GB as I saw articles on MS website saying that 1GB will cause 9x OS's to completely not start at all!! Oh and lets not forget the glorious BSOD - those bring back some memories!
Once I upgraded to XP the 768MB of RAM worked fine. Then went onto 1GB and then afterwards a nice comfy 2GB.
Simply put, if I have 3GB of RAM, will I experience slowdowns or lockups in XP MCE 2005 much like I did in Me, when I had 768MB of RAM? Is 2GB of RAM the "ceiling" in XP MCE 2005 for good reliable performance.
Disk Space: Extra Updates
Aug 7, 2008I was trying to free up some space on my computer, so I got into "Add or Remove Programs" to see what I can delete etc. I noticed that there are like five Java updates, they all have that icon next to them.. the cup of coffee thingie. it's in white, except for J2SE where it's in blue.
Can I delete some of these updates? Like Update 2,3,5 maybe? Or do they have to stay on my computer.? Should they even show on the list? Do I have them installed?
